Hi, I'm Carol, a musician, performer and educator based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Since childhood I have been involved in the performing arts throughout school, training in dance from the age of 5 years and performing in school music and drama productions. Since then I have continued performing and studying, gaining a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance, teaching dance at Acting Up Theatre School and in after-school clubs, writing and performing my own poetry, performing in Theatre in Education and singing and playing percussion in various bands across the North East and Europe. I have worked extensively at Sage Gateshead across their Learning and Participation Programme, as a Project Musician and Programme Leader for their CoMusica, Early Years, Loud & Clear Foster and Adoptive Families and Young People's Programmes, delivering music-making projects and devising training in Early Years & Family Learning, Inclusive Practice and Working With Young People With Autism. I have worked collaboratively in partnerships with The Great North Children's Hospital, North East Autism Society, Children North East, North Tyneside Family Intervention, Durham, Gateshead and Newcastle Fostering and Adoption Services, Family Intervention Services and Music Services (HUBS) within Primary Education, SEND and PRU across the North East. I was a vocalist and percussion player with Bridie Jackson and The Arbour, a four-piece contemporary folk/acoustic band based in Newcastle. Gaining widespread acclaim, we received radio play on BBC 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 Music, played live sessions for Dermot O’Leary and Radio 4′s Loose Ends, and won a Journal Culture Award for their Arts Council-funded project, Music in Museums, and performed on multiple stages at the legendary Glastonbury Festival, having beaten over 8,000 contenders to win the 2013 Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition. I am a Festival Compere, having worked with Cambridge Folk Festival since 2015 and smaller festivals, including Maddy Prior's Stepping Stones Festival in Cumbria. I am now a Director of Sound Sense and work as a Freelance Musician working with babies, the elderly and all ages in between. Anita Sharma Coaching

anita sharma coaching

Personal Growth & Wellbeing I’m Anita, a personal growth and well-being coach, specialising in helping young people and their families navigate their way through the teenage and pre-teen years. Whether it’s exam stress, social anxiety or learning to deal with the overwhelm caused by social media, today’s young people have more pressure on them than ever before and, as a parent, it can be hard to know where to turn for advice and support when your child is struggling. Why use a coach? Shouldn’t I be able to support my child myself? Not fully understanding emotions, the impact they have and how to manage them can lead to self-destructive behaviour and negative beliefs, which is not only hard for the young person but for the family around them too. Seeking help from someone objective, outside the family, might feel difficult but many of those I work with say they wish they’d done it sooner. Parenting is hard work and it’s ok not to struggle on alone. I have spent my entire career working with young people, spending 20 years as a secondary school teacher before becoming a coach. I’m also a mum-of-two myself, so I know how difficult it can be. How does coaching work? Using a combination of talking and listening, alongside a series of practical steps, I help guide and encourage your child. Together we work through the issues that are troubling them to come up with a sustainable plan to set them on the right path for the future. How we get through our teenage years can pave the way for how we manage the rest of our lives. I’m passionate about bringing out the best in every child and teenager and giving them the confidence and skills to succeed in the world. I offer two types of support – Emotional Wellbeing and Academic Coaching – and aim to build flexible packages around you and your family, with prices starting from £30 per session. You can see more details in the Services section and more information about my qualifications and credentials on the About Me page.

Linlithgow

Central Scotland Ballet School began life as a branch of the prestigious ‘Scottish Academy of Dance’. From humble beginnings with only 20 pupils, CSBS Principal Mrs Jacqueline Clark established 4 large branches with a roll of over 1000 pupils. Her daughters, Amanda and Samantha, have become associate directors and teachers in the school, ensuring her high standards are maintained and keeping it a family business. The School quickly established a fine reputation as one of Scotland’s leading part-time ballet schools. Students of all ages and abilities are trained to the highest levels in Classical Ballet, studying the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus in a fun and friendly environment. They complement their ballet lessons with our professional tuition in commercial dance styles including Jazz, Acrobatics, Cheerleading, Tap, Commercial, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and competitive dance, as well as workshops with guest professional dance tutors. Many students enhance their training by successfully auditioning for professional Associate schemes as well as attending holiday courses at dance colleges across the UK. Annually we have students gain places at top full-time ballet schools and dance colleges across the UK. During the pandemic we ran a successful online programme with over 2500 online lessons and events… But it’s been a delight to welcome dancers back into the Studios! Whether our students are hoping to follow a career in dance or just dance for fun and fitness as a hobby, we hope to provide them with skills they can use in all aspects of their lives. “I never grow tired of watching the children grow and develop into confident and happy young dancers. It is a constant joy and privilege to watch them perform and I take huge pride in all their achievements. I hope that my school can continue to give young dancers a sense of confidence, enjoyment and success...” Jacqueline Clark RAD RTS , Director/Principal CSBS

Edinburgh

Our school supports students in developing creative confidence and finding courage through a range of icon painting courses and workshops open to students at all levels. Edinburgh School of Icon Painting was founded in September 2013. It is a small school based in the artist hub St. Margaret's House. The school mission is to teach icon painting (writing) to people of all different backgrounds but at the same time maintaining the ethos and essence of it's spirituality. Introducing this unique form of art to students of the school I introduce a way of practising art which is different the other forms of art and it is said to be more then just art. Students learn egg tempera technique which has been used in art for centuries and it is one of the most lasting painting techniques. There are still reasonably well preserved icons from VI Century. Egg tempera involves preparing own paints using egg yolk and dry pigments. Through the whole process of work we try to limit synthetic materials. Using organic materials helps to develop a connection with nature and in consequence with the Divine. Basia Mindewicz - founder and teacher. Born in 1978. Cook Stars - Hull East and Holderness

I have 2 amazing children Noah and Phoebe who love to help me out in the kitchen and join in with classes and workshops whenever they can. My wonderful husband Andy shares my passion for cooking and enjoying good food. He has been a sweet chef in a Michelin star restaurant but these days he is kept busy preparing ingredients and washing the pots from the Cook Stars sessions. I come from a family of foodies and food lovers. My mum Marion, introduced me to cooking from a very early age when I would often "help her" in the kitchen. She even used to come into my junior school to volunteer to teach baking and ended up doing this for 25 years!! My brother was also inspired and now owns his own Michelin star restaurant! My degree is in Psychology and Sociology but I have always had an interest in learning about food, cooking and sharing my knowledge and skills. I worked in the hospitality industry as a waitress for many years from part time while going through my education to full time as restaurant supervisor and back to being a waitress while starting out in my teaching career. After graduating I moved to Romania for a short time doing charity work in Gypsy villages particularly working with the children within the communities and helping to feed the villagers by making soup twice a week with one of the heads of the village and distributing it to villagers in need. I worked in a local secondary school for 15 years first as a teaching assistant working in a variety of subjects with students with a variety of needs. I completed my training as a Food teacher in 2005, I have taught a variety of food courses in KS3 and KS4. I was head of the D&T faculty and also worked alongside some local primary schools on a variety of projects. On my return to work after having Phoebe I realised that I needed to look at different avenues to regain my work life balance. Cook stars is the perfect opportunity for me to do this. I can do what I truly love which is teaching Kids to cook and encouraging children to enjoy cooking and learning about nutrition.
