The Cookery Courses Courses are either half-day or full-day. On the full-day course, attendees will spend the morning or evening preparing the recipes and then enjoy what they have prepared at a sit down meal. The courses are taught in a small group setting, with a mixture of hands-on cooking and demonstration, in a fun and friendly setting within our home. You can book a course as individuals, where you will have a chance to make new friends or book as a group of friends, family or work colleagues, to have a fun day together! The cooking classes offer a great team building opportunity. As such, I also run Corporate and Team Building workshops. There are further courses specifically for children and young persons ( I am DBS registered) and those with particular dietary requirements. Please contact me for further information. There is something for everyone! Book to attend for special occasions, be they birthdays, anniversaries, Valentines, Mother’s and Father’s Day or other personal milestones – the list goes on. Hagley Catholic High School is part of the Emmaus Catholic Multi Academy Company that was established in February 2021 with 9 other primary schools. We are a mixed 11-18 school in Hagley, Worcestershire and our Published Admissions Number (PAN) is 190 and with over 1130 students on our oversubscribed roll. We are situated in a semi-rural setting some twelve miles south west of Birmingham. The village of Hagley is within close proximity to the national motorway network and on a train line from Worcester to Birmingham, yet still enjoys views of the Clent Hills and beautiful surrounding countryside. As a Catholic School we believe that everyone is uniquely formed in the image of God and we are called to live, learn and serve in Jesus' name, by living out the Gospel values and following the compassion of Christ. Consequently, the Hagley family is a warm, caring, nurturing and generous one, in which all students, staff, parents, carers, and visitors feel part of. Our Patron saint is the Catholic martyr, Saint Nicholas Owen, and the school is divided into houses named after saints Anselm, Bede, Chad, Gregory, Kenelm and Wulstan. Hagley Catholic High School is a good school and the recent OFSTED inspection of October 2019 under the new inspection framework confirmed this. Inspectors commented very positively under a very robust and challenging new framework.

Born and raised in Birmingham, Tom has always been obsessed with making things. This obsession continued right through school and on to London where he studied furniture making. It was whilst in London his unusual style prompted his teacher to suggest he study sculpture. Taking his teachers advice after completing the year, he moved back to Birmingham and began his sculpture degree in Wolverhampton commuting daily before opting to move to West Wales School of Art - where they teach the fascinating process of bronze casting - to complete his degree. After completing his degree, Tom once again moved back to Birmingham where he continued his sculpture practise alongside working with family to further refine the carpentry and woodworking skills he learnt in London before setting up by himself a few years ago. The relatively recent decision to start offering courses came about almost by chance. The positive experience Tom had in West Wales ignited a desire to want to teach his skills to others – something that became even more apparent after taking on a couple of apprentices. However, with business being so busy it wasn’t until the apprentices highlighted the lack of woodworking courses available in the Birmingham area outside of full-time college or university courses. It was at this point Tom realised that this would be a great opportunity to give those interested in woodworking a way in without having to commit full time.

I AM YOGI is the story of wanting to build a yoga community. The company was co-founded by myself and Vittoria Manca. After practising yoga together for many years at various studios, we wanted to give it a go ourselves! In 2016, I decided to leave my career as a secondary school teacher and complete my yoga training in Goa, India. On returning, teaching in the local gym just wasn’t enough and the vision started to brew. The origins of I AM YOGI started in a space called ‘The Glasshouse’, which was essentially a conservatory on a pub car-park in Moseley. The weekly schedule started there. Wind the clock forward 18 months and the purpose-built wooden cabin that now stands in Moseley Park, was The Glasshouse re-envisioned. The cabin was constructed by a local carpenter and friend, Jim Jones along with many helping hands from parents, close friends, extended family and local stakeholders. Today, I have a dedicated team who work hard behind the scenes, from our CABIN CREW to our outstandingly dedicated TEACHING TEAM. The community that I AM YOGI serves and continues to create is special - and now even extends out into the virtual world since the pandemic! You can practice YOGA AT HOME with us from anywhere, anytime! The work we continue to do is for every yogi that continues to show up and practice with us.

When we started Nimbus Learning, we looked to solve what we saw as a gap in support for students such as ourselves. Our peers would reach out for help but would be faced with a multitude of obstacles to access student success services. We watched as they put time and effort into finding help (whether that be finding tutors, mentors or other support) on top of an already intense workload, juggling school, jobs and family responsibilities. We watched their health, wellbeing and success suffer as a result. When we connected with administrators to try to understand the problem, we saw ambitious and dedicated offices spending a significant amount of time every day on repetitive, time consuming tasks. Tasks like emailing to match students with the right mentor, recruiting tutors, and tracking hours and time sheets. Over the years we have honed Nimbus Learning’s services to make student success services more accessible while cutting down on the administrative workload. The Nimbus Platform centralizes tutoring, mentorship and advising programs into one place, where service providers can make their availability known in a few steps and students can book what they need at the click of a button. We help tutors develop the tools they need to succeed in their first jobs, empower administrators to see every aspect of their program in seconds and guide future planning based on in-depth analytics. We now work with administrators at over 25 schools, representing a quarter of a million students, to reduce the time that they spend on managing their student services by 52%. That return on time allows them to actually grow their services instead of just maintaining them and what we see are efficient, budget-saving programs that provide more value to students, help students do better academically and, ultimately, help them succeed.

The Island Project

The Island Project School was set up to provide a school for children and young people with autism. It was founded by parents whose children had previously been taught at home using Applied Behaviour Analysis ("ABA"). Without functional communication, adults with autism can be isolated from their family, community and even carers. Without clear and early intervention, children and young people may grow into adults with no communication or independence skills meaning that they become the most dependent, and sadly most vulnerable group whilst needing the largest amount of support. If, as a school, we can give young people a means of communication plus independence skills, we can give them a better quality of life, whilst reducing their long term dependence upon their community. Unfortunately, whilst Local Authorities have a legal obligation to provide appropriate education for all children, they do not have the space, funding, or expertise to provide appropriate education for all pupils, particularly those with complex communication needs and associated difficulties, or for those who have ABA on their EHC Plans In the West Midlands, there were no ABA schools when the Island Project was founded, and this remains largely the case. The School was founded using the principles of ABA, and the Pyramid Approach to Education which gives pupils an effective means of communication using the Picture Exchange System. The School recognises that having an effective means of communication, putting in place strategies around managing sensory difficulties, and the development of independence skills are key to enabling children and young people to successfully access education and a better quality of life in the future. In recognition of this, all pupils at the School have input from a Multi Disciplinary Team which includes Behaviour Analysts, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists specialising in Sensory Integration. The School originated with three pupils in a small unit in Balsall Common. The Schoo was founded as a charity, and within a few years, had outgrown its original building and moved to new premises at Diddington Hall in Meriden.
