All are welcome Methodists have always been clear that no-one is beyond the reach of God’s love. Salvation is there for everyone who turns to God, and not just for a chosen few. Our Worship Our place in the Methodist family The Methodist Church in Scotland is part of the Methodist Church in Britain and the worldwide Methodist Movement -see the World Methodist Council. History The first Methodist societies were formed in the 18th Century by those who heard John Wesley and his preachers. John Wesley and his preachers were itinerant; they travelled almost incessantly. John Wesley believed that no preacher should stay with a society for more than 6-8 weeks; after that the people would no longer be attracted by the preaching. Methodist Structures Local churches are grouped into Circuits, within which preachers, deacons and presbyters are shared. The Circuit Meeting is chaired by the Superintendent Minister of the Circuit. There are 7 Circuits in the Scotland District, which covers all of Scotland, apart from Shetland. Representatives from all the Circuits attend the Scottish Synod, over which the Chair of the District presides. The Scotland District sends representatives to the Conference of the Methodist Church in Britain, over which the President of the Conference presides. Ecumenical Relations The Methodist Church in Scotland belongs to the EMU partnership between the Scottish Episcopal, Methodist and United Reformed Churches in Scotland. It is one of nine member churches of ACTS – Action of Churches Together in Scotland. Local Methodist churches have many connections with other denominations; in some places, they belong to Local Ecumenical Partnerships or United Churches. What is Distinctive about Methodism?

Belhaven Hill School

belhaven hill school

Welcome to the Belhaven Hill School website. I hope that you enjoy this window into our wonderful school. Whether you are a parent looking for the best option for your family or an Old Belhavian keen to rekindle the magical relationships made during childhood, you would be so welcome to come and see us. Belhaven offers its children the very best start in life. Our core values of courage, creativity and courtesy encourage everyone at Belhaven to explore…whether it be our idyllic parkland campus and the beauty of the East Lothian coast or the mysteries of a broad range of subjects that stretch far beyond the curriculum. By promoting kindness, we continually support one another in the discovery of the world in which we live and seek to influence. The children’s exploration of this world, which starts with wonder at the growth of a seed or the hatching of a chick, can now be enhanced as they learn to harness the natural and digital resources around them; a well-positioned camera in a nesting box, controlled from a dormitory hideout by an app created in a combined Outdoor Education and Science lesson – that is the kind of composite experience that I wish for our children at Belhaven. In a school set up for boarding and day pupils, we have the enormous twin benefits of time and pastoral expertise. When these combine with ambitious children in a beautiful setting, there is no limit to what can be achieved. Come and see us to find out more – you can always be sure of a warm welcome. In the meantime, please do enjoy our website and our new video.

Bismillahi wa salaatu wa salaamu `alaa nabiyyunaa Muhammad wa `alaa aalihi wa ashaabihi ajma`een(With the Name Allah, the Blessings and peace be upon him, his family, his companions, all of them.) We invite you to join the IOU Education Distance Learning Initiative for the Incarcerated. This is an effort to bring Islamic Education to a population that needs it most. IOU has embarked on a journey to provide it’s Diploma and Undergraduate course of Islamic and Arabic studies, and other course offerings to the incarcerated Muslim population across the country, and around the world where requested. Efforts are underway in several state and federal correctional facilities to provide authentic Islamic Education through this initiative, to Muslim inmates in an effort to aid their rehabilitation process and to assist in preparing them for a successful and productive life after prison. Because the Islamic Online University was founded as an internet-based institution of learning, to accomplish the above-stated objective has required a “paradigm shift” away from the internet resource, to that of hard-copy materials, i.e. soft-back, non-spiral bound text-books, (cds and dvds where staff supervision is available.) There is no need for the inmate to access the internet, as the materials are made available to him or her, free of charge. The cost of the Diploma program to the inmate is free, through the generous donations of global and local donors. Currently male and female Muslim inmates are enrolled in 26 states and Puerto Rico. To date more than two thousand (2000) inmates are registered in the program across the country, with an active enrollment of more than one thousand (1000) inmates.

Evulva

Crewe

EVULVA is a health literacy platform used to promote education about vulvovaginal health and care at key intervention points. These stages include pre-puberty, puberty, fertility and family planning, peri-/menopause, and post-menopause. We are aiming to develop content that is customized to each user’s literacy level and to present information in a way that is culturally affirming, trans/queer-inclusive, and 100% FREE. 6/10 adults in the UK are unable to understand and act on health information Health literacy costs America an estimated 238 billion dollars annually and the economic health costs of poor health literacy in England is crudely estimated to be 4.95 billion annually. Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic/ Black and Indigenous People of Colour (BAME/BIPOC), trans/queer and other marginalized groups are disproportionately represented in these numbers, making this a human rights and public health issue. EVULVA is designed to improve health literacy and reduce these health inequalities through evidence-based research and the support of BAME/BIPOC community leaders and allied health professionals focusing on needs specific to culturally diverse groups. There are more than 5.8 million results when you type ‘vulvovaginal health’ into google. Some websites will have information that is too difficult for the reader to consume while others will underrepresent cultures, isolating people from obtaining life-saving information about their body. More than 4 in 10 adults in the UK struggle with health content. That number raises to 6 in 10 adults when numbers and statistics are added to health content. Many websites hypersexualise BAME/BIPOC groups adding another level of stress and deleteriously adding to decreased mental wellness around vulvovaginal health concern

Canvey Island Swimming Club

Essex

Since inception in 1975, Canvey Island Swimming Club (CISC) has been competing in the world of swimming and has pupils from all local areas. Swimmers are personally trained and developed in line with Swim England Swim Plans, then fed through to the Club’s Squad Teams. Once swimmers reach Squad level, Head Coach and Teachers work closely together with members to transform them into competitive swimmers. We are a competitive club whilst encouraging younger swimmers to attend for the fitness and fun side of swimming in a Swim Club environment. All swimmers are introduced into a sporting environment where fitness along with nutrition play a vital role. CISC competes in local, regional and national swimming leagues. We swim against other clubs in and around Essex and at County level. All our swimmers develop confidence and courage to compete in races either as an individual or in team events. So, come on Canvey! From August 2011 to August 2013 – CISC temporarily moved to Runnymede whilst Waterside underwent major development work. We had no Coach and no Squads at this point. The Club provided Swim School and Swim Development lessons. Late 2013 saw the return of a Coach and Squad groups slowly built. In 2018 the full committee resigned, leaving the club in disrepair, with no Swim School Teacher and no Head Coach. Some of the parents pulled together to become the new committee, their first action was to re-employ Paul as Head Coach and Alison as Head Teacher. They revised Membership/payment/insurance costs and Teamed together to make what the club is today, a family friendly swimming club.
