Our first meeting of 2023 occurred Wednesday, Jan 11! Our guest artist demonstrating was Roxsane Tiernan. Roxsane Tiernan was born and raised in the Greater Vancouver area. She became an international educator teaching high school and marketing for the district in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Mexico. She is a Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists showing in over 70 juried shows. She studied Applied Arts at Capilano College in the mid-seventies and started painting seriously in 2000 when she joined the FCA and Burnaby Artists Guild. She really likes the challenges of interpreting local nature using chigiri-e—Japanese torn paper collage. She gives workshops and lesson in this technique even in Finland or Manitoba. Roxsane joined the North West Collage Society which is centered in Seattle. Her work was featured on their posters and invitations. She has won several awards locally and internationally mostly for mixed media or chigiri-e pieces. ART and SOUL has her poetry and artworks together. Meetings take place 6-8:45 pm every second Wednesday of the month except in Summer. Please note that the Cultural Centre prohibits food and drink indoors, but we may be able to use the roof garden during the break.

Our studio is a warm, friendly environment where everyone is made to feel welcome, and our motto is ‘dancing should be fun’ - our emphasis is on the social side of dancing. We are a well established dance studio offering courses in Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle and many other dance styles. The Principal, Teresa Croasdale, a teacher with over 40 years experience, is a Fellow of the IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) in Ballroom & Latin American, and qualified to teach a wide variety of other dance styles. We offer classes for all ages from age 3 upwards (please follow the links to see classes available) and support both Bolton and Bury Hospice, providing training for their annual dance competitions - check out our Facebook for more information. Our experienced teachers are also available for private tuition. In addition we offer traditional children's parties for up to 40 children, from the age 4 upwards. The room is also available (with a licensed bar) for functions such as wedding receptions, adult birthdays etc.

The EUBC is the official boxing club for the University of Edinburgh. Established originally in the late 19th century, the club is open to anyone wishing to try their hands and fists at the sport of boxing, or simply anyone wishing to keep fit while having fun. Throughout the club's history, the EUBC has been committed to providing excellent boxing training to the students and staff of the University of Edinburgh: for both competitive and recreational aims. Under Boxing Scotland: boxers from EUBC have competed in regional championships including the BUCS and SSS leagues. We are located at the Centre for Sports and Exercise of the University of Edinburgh where the club meets for its classes and sessions. Forgan Arts Centre is a thriving hub rooted in the community and strives to offer educational and cultural opportunities to people of all ages and abilities, in an environment that enriches well-being. Established in 1978, the Centre offers a wide variety of modern and traditional classes and events to the residents of Newport-On-Tay and surrounding towns and villages. Weekly classes include Pottery, Upholstery, Jewellery, Painting, Dressmaking, Charcoal drawing, Printing, Stained Class, Watercolour, Photography, Life Drawing and more! In addition to our popular, long-running courses, we run new workshops, classes and events each season - so be sure to keep an eye on what we're doing. Committee meetings are held approximately every two months. Additionally, there is an Annual General Meeting which all members are welcome to attend.
