Jason West is the founder and chief creator of English Out There. He now has almost thirty years of self-employed experience in transformational English language teaching and learning. In 1992, at the age of 25, he co-founded an English language school in the heart of London’s West End and within two and half years the school achieved British Council accreditation (which annoyed a few people!). A long-standing interest in the psychology of learning lead Jason to feel that something could be done to improve the way his students acquired English. As a result he created the English Out There (EOT) course concept, where students engage directly with fluent or native speakers at every stage of their language development. The language laboratory in EOT's case was (and still is) the streets of London and members of the public (recently we have been experimenting successfully with handheld mobile technology and Google+ community pages). A lot of people have helped to create English Out There over the years. The principal EOT lieutenants have been Georgina Moon, Maria Stamati-Knipe and Jonathan Jones whilst Tim Bowen helped edit the materials for publication. After 250,000 hours of teaching and editing English Out There course materials were born. They can be used both offline and on. The online element came out of a fascination with social media and free internet telephony such as Facebook and Skype. An interesting quirk of their design is that they will work with any and all social media platforms, even those not yet invented! The inexpensive DRM-free course materials for students and teachers recently made the EU’s top 10 formal uses of social media for language learning and can be purchased online from this website. English Out There is the only English program we know of that posts 'before and after' audio and video proof of the amazing progress of real students. It is a truly transformational English course because learners who have tried and failed to speak English comfortably for years find that it helps them to break through their personal language barriers. Children's TV and Film School We are a part time TV and film school for children based at Pinewood Studios. We deliver a unique range of screen and film classes in a fun and practical way to 6-16 years. We are passionate about ensuring that children are well trained and we offer our students a huge wealth of opportunities to meet casting directors, directors, top coaches. We offer lessons, close to the new Shinfield Studios in Reading, on Sunday mornings from 10.30am until 12.30pm and close to Pinewood studios in Iver Heath on Tuesday evenings 5pm until 6pm We offer weekly acting lessons exclusively for TV and films. Ideal for beginners, our courses allow children to learn techniques that build their confidence in a fun and unique way. Children perform against green screens on a weekly basis. Every week we focus on a different style and scenario making these classes fun and highly interactive. Children will receive immediate feedback and at the end of each term their work will be showcased in a glamorous red carpet style premiere event for their friends and family. Children who are currently represented in the industry can learn techniques for onscreen acting. Delivered by leading charities tackling youth violence, Catch22 and Redthread, The Social Switch Project is switching the narrative on how social media’s relationship to youth violence is understood, tackled and solved. How the project was formed The Social Switch Project launched when Google.org was seeking a way to tackle the growing issue of antisocial and violent online behaviour, which often leads to violence offline. Where antisocial behaviour was once mostly limited to a physical audience, harmful content is now rapidly shared online, resulting in retaliation and feeding gang violence. This programme contributes to the public health approach to tackling youth violence. Utilising funding from the corporate sector, Catch22 and Redthread are able to offer these learning opportunities for London’s young people and professionals. Who is involved? Initially funded by Google.org, two of London’s leading charities Catch22 and Redthread, launched the pilot project in 2019. Catch22’s extensive research in the area and frontline experience of reducing violence, is combined with Redthread’s expertise in delivering youth violence interventions. Google.org encouraged both partners to use their knowledge to create an exemplary pilot project.  The Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit is now supporting the next phase of the project to build our impact and shape its future development. The Social Switch Project has a large advisory board, with representatives from across the sector, police, and academics. We’re already working with key players, including Google, Facebook, TikTok, City Hall, the Metropolitan Police, and The Children’s Society.

ABOUT US Wuntanara – meaning ‘we are together’ in the Soussou language from Guinea Conakry – is a collective of outstanding artists from West Africa and dedicated African drumming and dance students from across Europe. Master Drummer Souleymane Compo is the Founder and Artistic Director Wuntanara, and CEO of Wuntanara Ltd. Souleymane was born into the proud musical tradition in Guinea. As a young man he travelled to The Gambia, where he continued his training in the traditional arts with Guinean masters, in the famous Fatala Drum and Dance School. He soon began teaching African drumming and dance to students from all over the world. An accomplished dancer, he also became choreographer and lead dancer for the Fatala Ballet troupe. Souleymane moved from Africa to London in 2004. Since then he has been teaching and performing in schools, weekly classes, festivals and private events across the UK. He combines warmth and patience with great musical knowledge and skill. He is an inspiring teacher, as well as an accomplished performer. Wuntanara's lead dancer is Salif Camara Salif belongs to a family of Guinean artists, and began dancing at a young age. An exhilarating dancer, Salif has performed in some of the most acclaimed Guinean ballet troupes and teaches Guinean dance to student across Europe as well as in Guinea.
