IDL was devised in the mid 1980s by educators working with the Starcross Educational Research Association. In 2012 a programme was funded by the Big Lottery called Lifting Barriers. This allowed IDL to be developed for use within a school environment in conjunction with SENCO leaders. Over a three year period IDL was placed in to 120 primary and secondary schools across the North West. IDL was required to show an increase in reading and spelling ages along with an increase in confidence and self-esteem for those pupils with dyslexia or dyslexic type difficulties. The results showed an average increase in reading and spelling ages of 11 months after only 26 hours use. Since its development for use in schools, IDL has gone from strength to strength with schools nationwide and overseas using IDL and demonstrating real improvements for pupils with challenging literacy needs.

I first took up silk painting at the 2001 Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, when the Fabric Colour Workshop were doing taster sessions. I went with curiosity, and came home with a large frame, some silk, a brush and a box of little bottles of paint! Since then, I have completed my City and Guilds qualification in creative textiles (silk painting), and the "Access to Art & Design" Diploma at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham. I enjoy teaching silk painting and helping each student to achieve their potential. I have written tutorials on aspects of silk painting for Crafts Beautiful Magazine and Creative Crafting Magazine, and contributed three projects to "Craft", which was published by Dorling Kindersley. I appeared (briefly!) on Paul Martin's Handmade Revolution (BBC2), and was interviewed by the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of a project on traditional crafts. I have run silk painting workshops for many local organisations including Watts Gallery, The Lightbox, The West End Centre in Aldershot, Amberley Museum, Woking College, NADFAS, The Embroiderers' Guild, the Guild of Weavers Spinners & Dyers, and the WI. I have also run introductory evening workshops for a number of local businesses, and many private parties. I have also been working in fused glass and ceramics since 2009, and have my own home workshop. I have been on a number of courses at Glasszoo, UCA Farnham, Warm Glass and The Glass Hub, and have also attended workshops at the International Festival of Glass. I have been featured in the Glass Beadmakers UK Magazine and Journal. I am a member of the Guild of Silk Painters. I set up their Surrey Branch in 2005. I have also spent time on the Guild of Silk Painters Executive Committee as their Vice Chairman and, more recently, as their Publicity Officer. My silk painting courses are also listed on craftcourses.com. I produce a range of hand made accessories and homewares from hand painted silk and fused glass, suitable for all occasions. We have been producing umbrella since 1995 as Gold Umbrella. The umbrellas we produce in Turkey, we export to many countries in the World with our expert and professional team in the field. We are able to receive orders from all over the world without the minimum order quantity of 1 or 1000 pieces Because we focus on customer satisfaction we have no minimum order limitation. Our aim is to continue our business regardless of any Quantity. Our aim is that all our customers the product or products that they have purchased to send in a flawless and fast manner, to do not embarrass ourselves and our customers against anyone. As production capacity, we give 3 or 4 weeks term time for high-volume orders. We prepare a sample on the computer according to the colour, printing and dimensions after the confirmation of customers we prepare a real sample if it is approved after send it, we are going to serial production. We check our production line every two or three years and replace it with new ones, if we have an old one. We participate the fairs, investigating new machines, new technologies and if there is a new technology, we include it in our production line the and we continue umbrella production. Turkey is one of the strongest countries in the production of printing types and fabrics. That’s why we do not have much problem with fabric and printing. Our customers, whatever printing they want, we can find a solution. First of all we prepare a drawing sample on the computer, after the confirmation we prepare a real sample. We have six different umbrella models. These are Rope System Umbrella, Magnet System Umbrella, Telescopic System Umbrella, Manual Telescopic Umbrella, Crank System Umbrella, Side Pole Umbrella. After we have learned how our customers will use the umbrella, we will first hold a meeting with our colleagues on this subject, then decide which products are useful, long-lasting and economical for them, and then we present them as two or three models.
