This course will include everything you need to get started with practising Zen. Each week will feature informal talks, practical demonstrations and plenty of opportunities for questions and discussions. Getting Started – looking at what meditation is and how it’s practised within the Zen tradition. In the first week we’ll have practical posture workshops to help you sit with ease and find rest in a balanced posture that suits you. We’ll also look at embarking upon a daily practice and tips for how you can get started practising at home. Turning In, Facing Out – introducing some of the traditions and rituals of Zen and how they might help us to practice together with the space, with each other and with the wider world. We’ll go on to have a look at Kinhin and the practice of walking meditation.

We’re a group of incredibly talented performers passionately strutting our stuff — on the ground, mid-air, and oh, tugging at heartstrings with delightful spectacles of ‘brain foolery.’ There’s a whimsical bubble about us that just might get you in a spin! A brainchild of Finn and Toffy, we’re a contemporary, socio-aware group of performers/producers who fuse circus arts with collaborative imagination (Toffy and Finn’s peerless chemistry) to create versatile, fully immersive, and visually enriching performance arts experiences for the world’s audiences. We entangle our audiences, up-close and personal, drawing them into a world where they live only for the present glorious moments. We live in complex times, an era in history poised to stretch the thirst for unflinchingly humanity-driven art to its full elastic limits. In our bold bid to provide answers, one common thread you’re odds-on to spot throughout our circus art performances is that human connectedness — or rootedness (if you will) — within communities that we celebrate. The sheer vitality we inspire and the spellbinding fabric of fragility we weave our audience into — all by the intricately knitted universe of the circus. Without question, the circus, for us, is never just about a ‘13-meter-diameter’ or ‘42-foot ring’ mastery. That would be just scratching the surface. At its heart, the circus has always incorporated a fusion of skill and soul—clusters upon clusters of exceptional human skills and artful mobility to tickle the human fancy. What sets us apart, though, is how we bring these human elements together. The spatial (on stage) and social (offstage) recognition we take to new heights to gratify, entertain, and inspire collective progress as humans. Ultimately, we’re becoming part of a more robust movement with the loftiest calling in the circus performance arts, and indeed, any other art form worth its earthly significance — to redefine the boundaries of what reflects the deepest needs of the modern-day, contemporary audience.

BRYAN CLARK My journey towards becoming a writer is deeply rooted in the rich tapestry of experiences that life has generously offered me. As I journeyed through my military career, I naturally had highs and lows, things that I loved and a lot that I’d rather have skipped, all of this has been a thread that I’ve woven into the fabric of my narratives. Fiction, my chosen medium, serves as a conduit through which I channel these myriad experiences, infusing my characters and the worlds they inhabit with the essence of real-life wisdom and insight.  This creative alchemy is not solely for my own fulfillment but is driven by a profound love for reading—a love that has allowed me to traverse countless universes, each a unique reflection of the human experience.  It is this magical immersion that I aspire to offer my readers. By inviting them into the realms I create, I hope to echo the enchantment that reading has bestowed upon me, crafting not just stories, but gateways to worlds both vast and intimate, where every page turned is a step into the boundless potential of imagination.

For education is committed to the view that the ideal order and the actual order can ultimately be made one. HENRY MORRIS Impington Village College opened its doors in 1939 within days of the declaration of World War II. It was the fourth Village College to be established in Cambridgeshire by the visionary educationalist Henry Morris, who firmly believed that both formal and informal education should be a lifelong process, a vision that carved an innovative new approach for education. This remains extremely important today as the founding ideas and principles remain embedded within the fabric of Impington Village College, and we aspire to uphold Henry Morris’ vision. Our College is open to the whole community; as well as an excellent education for students from Years 7 to 13, we offer a variety of adult education courses and workshops. The foundation of Impington Village College was made possible through the foresight and generosity of the Chivers family, who donated land, support and finance. The original building was designed by Walter Gropius, founder of The Bauhaus School of Architecture, and his partner Maxwell Fry. The iconic design was a radical departure from the taut educational establishments of the Victorian era, and introduced many innovations that had not been seen before. The original construction, which is now Grade 1 Listed, still stands at the heart of the College and continues to attract visitors from all over the world.

I find joy in craft and the handmade and I’m so lucky that I get to hand make my own products everyday. I live in Brighton where I grew up, I’m an avid tea drinker, a colour lover and I find happiness in being outdoors and in nature. Lume lighting is based in a small sunny studio at the bottom of Albert Mews in Brighton & Hove, UK. From here I hand make contemporary and traditional sewn lampshades using Lume’s own collection of printed fabrics and a range of luxury linens. Alongside my expertly designed lampshades, there are unique fairy lights and pendant lights to add interest and fun to your home. I am a skilled lampshade maker and have been expertly manufacturing lampshades since 2014. After adding contemporary drum lampshades to my range of homewares, I found a love for lampshades and decided to focus on lighting and rebranded my homewares business from ‘Joanna Corney’ to ‘Lume Lighting’ in 2018. Being a trained printed textile designer means that my lampshades are unique as they are made using my own exclusive screen and lino printed fabric. I am skilled in the traditional methods of soft lampshade making as well as hard backed contemporary styles, and offer a bespoke made to order and lampshade recovering service.

Victoria teaches traditional and modern upholstery skills, restoration and upcycling on your own furniture.  The Spey St teaching studio offers six dedicated workbenches with a full set of upholstery tools, airline with staple gun and an area to store your project.   Learn how to strip down, repair/refinish frame and woodwork, re-web, replace seat pad traditionally with coir and horsehair or modern foams, apply fabric and finish off with braid, piping or studs.  There are four 8 week courses per year and monthly weekend drop in sessions available to book on the website. Victoria is a member of the Association of Master Upholsterers and the Fine Furniture Guild.
