Meet Gehane Gordelier Education Consultant As an education consultant I provide on-site and remote/online guidance, support and training for headteachers, senior and middle leaders and practitioners at every level to help them to further improve their practice; this includes governors. Most of my work is currently in the South East and in Jersey. I support schools with school improvement, planning, self-evaluation, curriculum provision, the teaching of phonics and early reading as well as financial management and budgeting. As an HMI I reviewed the implementation of policies and practice in education. I inspected local authorities, initial teacher education as well as primary, secondary and special schools in the maintained and independent sectors. I have experience of reviewing a range of curriculum subjects for Ofsted and now undertake deep dives of subjects for schools. As HMI, I was the national lead for the inspection of information and communication technology in primary schools and the inspection of international schools in England. Areas of specialism include strengthening leadership and management and improving the teaching of phonics, early reading and writing, MFL, EAL and accelerating school improvement. I have a B.Ed. (Hons) in Education and French and an MA in IT and Special Educational Needs.

Children Unite is a registered charity that promotes participatory approaches to working with exploited children. Since 2010 we have worked in over 15 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America with children's rights agencies and donors that are supporting exploited children and young people. Through consultancy : We work with NGOs and donors that support exploited children and young people. Our advice service builds organisations' capacity to integrate children's participation into organisational policy and structure, and develop programmes that are based on needs identified by children themselves. Our technical advice and consultancy includes programme evaluation and grant assessment, qualitative research and policy reviews as well as capacity building and training staff and children. Through our projects : We facilitate children's activism and advocacy in order to influence national and international policy and practice. We design and co-ordinate participatory research and projects that empower exploited children. We have successfully supported child domestic workers to campaign nationally and internationally; influencing the International Labour Organisation's Domestic Workers Convention and introducing local by-laws to protect children from exploitation. At Challenge Dyslexia we understand first hand the difficulties and frustrations parents of a dyslexic child face when navigating the educational process. The method of teaching utilised at Challenge Dyslexia follows the ‘Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme’ (DALP) This programme is highly effective and successful in providing targeted specific dyslexia tuition and is delivered in 1-1/ small groups. Lessons are formulated based on the findings of an evaluation carried out within the initial placement sessions. The lessons follow a tailored structured plan of learning points which are delivered through a combination of exercises, activities and games which aim to build and reinforce each learning point. Our aim at Challenge Dyslexia is to engage students by making learning fun with all sessions designed to promote relational learning. The lessons follow a learner led cumulative approach, which is built upon session by session. Due to the negative experiences some students may have previously experienced within the classroom, a major element built into the construct of the lessons is the promotion of learner independence, self efficacy and self confidence, which aim to increase motivation and attitude to learning.
