The Judo Federation welcomed very favourably the introduction of judo in the school curriculum to the point that Catherine Arnaud proposed to teach it in our school. Judo is for students beginning at age 4 and a half and all Montessorian judokas, who are certified by the judo federation, pass the grades at the end of the year. Judo is a sport that allows the child to develop many skills: respect for the rules, respect for others and respect for oneself. It builds self-confidence and an ability to communicate. The structured character of judo (dress, rules, greeting, respect of the teacher) allows children to flourish. This contact sport participates in better appropriating the body diagram which remains an essential step to develop a better knowledge of oneself and helps to promote self-confidence. Through this activity, children evacuate excess physical energy and release their emotional charge which can be a source of aggression. Judo is therefore a wonderful opportunity of self-learning and brings forth an extraordinary development of the personality (taste of the effort, surpassing oneself, spirit of sharing, respect, development of motor skills). Including judo in the school curriculum is a unique chance to practice a high-caliber sport in a peaceful and caring environment.

Reading up on the dangerous side-effects of most detergents sparked Antoaneta’s interest and she began researching different approaches to commercial cleaning. There simply had to be a way to get good results without putting the employees or clients in danger of chemical exposure. Eventually, one thing led to another, and she realized she was no longer interested in the subject merely from a professional standpoint. It was no longer just about efficiency and work ethics. Exhibitions... The Art of Grieving exhibitions enable artists working in any medium to share work related to this issue. This coming together of artist and audience generates new and important human connections around a shared desire to explore the subject of grief and loss. Workshops... The Art of Grieving workshops offer the opportunity to come to a supportive environment to learn new art techniques and create a piece of work either in memory of a loved one, or in contemplation of a loss. The first workshops were held in September/October 2018 and proved to be a great success. Sadly, Covid-19 prevented the workshops planned for Autumn 2020 from going ahead. Shared creativity... The sharing of artwork with an audience can be a valuable part of the bereavement process and encourages communication with those impacted by their work. However, the Art of Grieving is not just for artists. The aim of our exhibitions and workshops is to spark conversation and encourage openness; we hope those who attend will reflect on the creative works and be empowered to speak to others about their thoughts and experiences.
