We filmed them on the hottest day of the year last summer- uniform became the coolest clothing possible whilst we made the most of the sun (and shade) to share with you what Simonside Primary School is all about. At SlamFresh, we believe poetry can make a big difference to young people’s lives. But the need to create a nurturing and supportive environment in which to write has never been greater. Although the popularity of the art form, particularly spoken word, continues to grow on an unprecedented scale, last year, for the first time in our country’s history, poetry was nearly made an optional GCSE subject. As well as this, the recent closure of schools has meant that young people from lower economic backgrounds have been put at an even greater disadvantage than they already were. Cut off from schools, many of these young people simply have not had the space or resources to access creative opportunities, at a time when they need them more than ever. SlamFresh is a CIC based in the Newcastle upon Tyne which aims to address these problems. We run workshops that focus on the contemporary styles of spoken word and slam poetry, styles of writing which we have found can engage some of the most reluctant students. SlamFresh work in partnership with schools and community centres to mentor young people in writing, editing and performance. We have 3 company directors, Rowan McCabe, Michael MacDonald and Jeff Price. Rowan McCabe and Michael MacDonald (stage name Donald Jenkins) also serve as the two primary facilitators for the workshops, although guests may be brought in on a freelance basis where required. The directors met through their work as professional poets. Collectively, they have spent over 40 years working with children and young people.

c4c (conect4children) is a large collaborative European network that aims to facilitate the development of new drugs and other therapies for the entire paediatric population. It is a pioneering opportunity to build capacity for the implementation of multinational paediatric clinical trials whilst ensuring the needs of babies, children, young people and their families are met. c4c is committed to meeting the needs of paediatric patients thanks to a novel collaboration between the academic and the private sectors, which includes 35 academic and 10 industry partners and around 500 affiliated partners. c4c endeavours to provide a sustainable, integrated platform for the efficient and swift delivery of high quality clinical trials in children and young people across all conditions and phases of the drug development process. c4c strives to bring innovative processes to all stages of clinical development by generating a new model of organization and of the clinical development process. By emphasizing inclusiveness and collaboration across geographical, specialty, sectoral, cultural and societal backgrounds, it will set up a new infrastructure to support all evaluations of medicines in children. In this manner, it will become a benchmark in the currently fragmented European clinical research environment. Best practices and up-to-date expert advice will inform the c4c approaches and methods, which will subsequently be refined in the context of viability trials.

He graduated with a dual M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering & Engineering Management from the University of South Florida, and a dual B.S. degree in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering from University of Florida. Throughout his education and work experience, Mr. Hamidi has gained valuable experience in the field of leadership, research, education & management. He also has taught in Private and Charter Schools (K-12) including Nur Academy in 2019-2020. Brother Karim is very happy to be back and look forward to a great year ahead inshallah. Amel Abosamek Amel Abosamek is a homeroom teacher at Nur Academy. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt and earned her BS in Chemical Engineering from Alexandria University. Sister Amel has completed several professional development and educator training programs. She has 17 years of experience teaching Math and Science for all levels up to 8th grade. Jamila Ali Mrs. Ali. will be our Kindergarten/First grade teacher during the 2022-2023 academic year. She was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida and have been here for 30 years! Mrs. Ali grew up within the Muslim ISSB community and she is so honored to finally be giving back to the community by teaching our young Muslim children and much more. She graduated as an Education major from University of South Florida. She loves to read, cook, and spend time with her family in her spare time. Rana Elshamy Rana Elshamy received her B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of South Florida. After graduation, she realized that she was a teacher at heart, so she decided to pursue a career in teaching. Sister Rana has more than 12 years of experience at teaching. She has taught in different Islamic schools as well as at some public/charter schools. She is very excited to be part of Nur Acade Dina Gadelhaq Dina Gadelhaq teaches Quran and Arabic at Nur Academy. She was born and raised in Egypt and earned her BS in Accounting from Cairo University. She is a certified Nuraniyah teacher and has taught Quran and Arabic at Nur Academy for the past 4 years.
