Currently working and living in Milan, Italy, Robert Marjoribanks’ work finds inspiration and a great attachment to space and identity, spirituality and pragmantism. New perspectives and varied visual information are combined to explore possible narratives which may be overlooked or ignored as opportunities to make art which often talks of the relationships we have with our own and others culture and living spaces. Trained as a printmaker at Gray’s School of Art he was increasingly interested in the physicality of the print process. This intrigue pushed and pulled him into a more sculptural way of working. Taking into consideration the appropriate materials to use he often works with cast or found objects placed into a relationship with printed media and the environment they are found in. After being awarded his bachelor’s degree he went on to become the workshop assistant at the Edinburgh Printmakers in his hometown. After a year working with an artist residency program helping to curate and working with artists in Shanghai he has lived and worked in Treviso and now Milan, Italy.

We feel as though there is a lot of pressure on young people to make the correct career choices yet so many still do not have the tools or access to make informed decisions. Lack of access to people from different professions means that young people do not know what certain professionals do or what it takes to get there, and a lack of confidence means that individuals do not put themselves forward for roles that they are absolutely capable at achieving - with a little hard work of course! Breaking Through Careers would like for people from all backgrounds to have the opportunity to end up in a career that is truly right for them. We will have succeeded if just a few more people from any and all backgrounds: Discover and understand a profession that they either a) have not had access to, b) have not taken the time to explore, or c) would otherwise not have heard of because of their upbringing or environment. Know what is required for them to enter that industry. See themselves in other people currently in that profession, giving them the confidence they need to put themselves forward.

Established in 2012 by Jill Martin Boualaxai and Damian Michael Malone, Look and Draw runs a year round program of exciting and innovative art classes and workshops from Wasps Artists Studios near Haymarket and monthly pop up events at The Safari Lounge in Abbeyhill. Look and Draw classes are brought to you by a group of like minded professional artists who are all passionate about the visual arts and about taking the right approach to drawing and painting. Juniper Green Tots is a small, family orientated nursery based in Juniper Green, Edinburgh. We offer full and part time places for children aged between 6 months and 5 years. We are governed by the Care Commission, and our staff have been specifically chosen for their commitment to providing quality care for each individual child in our setting. Each member of our team has a recognised childcare qualification. Our staff offer a secure, warm atmosphere where your child can grow and flourish. Each child has a special carer to ensure the care they receive during their time at nursery is tailored to their individual needs. Juniper Green Tots is divided into two play areas to accommodate the wide development stage of 0-30 months - our busy messy area where toddlers can enjoy and investigate a wide range of play experiences and a quieter area where our babies can explore and discover in a much calmer atmosphere. We also have a secure back garden which is specifically designed to provide all the facilities your child will need to encourage and stimulate all aspects of cognitive, physical, emotional and social development in a safe, secure environment. Kids love our after school clubs. Parents do too. At Trinity After School Club we are proud of the exciting and stimulating childcare we offer. We understand each child is different and that they want to get involved in different things. Every day there are planned arts and crafts activities, outdoor games, and quiet time for reading or to do homework. All the children get involved in planning the activities and outings at the after school clubs. They bring new ideas or develop initiatives suggested by the staff. The kids make sure we do interesting things and get involved in the community – from a tooth brushing project, writing a song and a performance on anti-bullying to building relationships with a local elderly residential care home. We make sure there is plenty of variety. Our experienced staff encourage an all-inclusive environment where consideration for others is paramount. Policies and procedures are in place to cover all aspects of childcare to reassure parents and guardians that we have their children's interests at heart. Flexibility of care is important to parents and guardians and we offer full-time (5 days per week) and part-time places (2, 3 or 4 days per week), and we operate a Crocodile Club for P1 and P2 children who finish earlier. We cover most holidays and in-service days and our team plan ahead with the children to offer a great range of holiday activities.

You Can Cook is a celebration of food, people and cultures!  You Can Cook was established in 2007 and was set up to encourage and empower local communities to make informed choices about their food and health.  Healthy eating initiatives are promoted through every service from cookery classes, demonstrations, workshops, talks and seminars with training for young people in primary and secondary schools, youth groups, families, elderly, disadvantaged communities and individuals with allergies and food intolerances. A safe and relaxed environment is created where people from all ages can come together, socialise, rediscover and explore a healthier approach to cooking with simple and nutritious ingredients using seasonal and local produce. You Can Cook has created an off-shoot, You Can Grow which helps to raise awareness of how and where our food comes from and also introduces the concept of growing food free of chemical fertilisers and pesticides in client’s gardens and allotments.  This is done by teaching clients how to convert their outdoor/indoor paces into edible gardens or working together in community allotments using organic/permaculture principles. Another initiative to come out of this off-shoot is the launch of a book for growers in Scotland, aimed at aspiring growers of all ages, beginners and experts too. The book is a simple, practical guide to help purchasers take the first steps to growing their own food and have fun at the same time. There is no need to buy expensive starter kits to get growing as the book is full of easy to find and use household items that are normally thrown away and which can be recycled to help in the growing process. This is the first book published by a Community Interest Company and Social Enterprise aimed at Scottish growers. The book is priced at £12.99 and proceeds from sales mean that the Organisation is able to reach more families and communities across Scotland, helping them to grow and cook their own delicious food. The book is available in all big and independent bookstores in the UK, including online through our website.
