SCDC was Founded on June 6th 2011 by Katie Tonkin-Beardmore, SCDC Dance School has grown to become one of the biggest and best-known dance schools in the S-O-T Area. Offering a wide range of classes for all ages & abilities. All Performers/Dancers Will Build Up To Perform In Our Dance School’s Annual Show & Performances held every year. Our aim is to keep kids happy, healthy and out of trouble, since lockdown hit we have seen children’s confidence hit rock bottom, and our aim is to help them get it back. Katie and her amazing team of teachers strive to get the best from your children. If your child is sat at home constantly on their phones/devices SCDC is the best place for them. We will help your child’s confidence by improving their fitness and give them a better social life, making new friends and feeling safe in the environment we provide. We offer classes in Street & Hip Hop Dance, Ballet, Jazz/Commercial, Gymnastics,Singing, Fitness, Yoga, Self Defence, Drama & Musical Theatre. IDTA Exams in Street Dance offered every year. Workshops with Famous Industry Teachers from all over the Globe held every 3 months for extra training. Newcomers are welcome to trial our classes FREE of charge, Booking is required in case our classes have reached full capacity. When arriving at SCDC head to the main reception to speak with our receptionist, upon your arrival you will be given a welcome pack this will include everything you need to attend for the duration of your stay. Uniforms are NOT required at SCDC, we give you the option to buy. Clothing needed for your child/yourself : anything that is breathable, Leggings, Joggers, T-shirts/Hoodies, Trainers for footwear is perfect. The dancer/performer can join in or watch during the FREE trial, parents must wait in the waiting room provided & also view from the viewing windows, whilst enjoying a nice cup of Tea or Coffee. Our studios have a small Confectionary & catering area, feel assured if your peckish or thirsty we have food and drinks available to buy.

As a recruiter with over 20 years of experience in the field of data science and analytics, Roisin McCarthy observed a worrying decline in female candidates applying to roles across every level. The gap in female applicants led her to examine the underlying causes and barriers to women in the data and analytics industries. What she found led her to collaborate with Britain’s foremost analytics expert, Payal Jain and together, Women in Data was formed to confront this startling problem and to agitate for change. Women in Data® aims to bring awareness through media appearances and events; in particular, the landmark annual Women in Data® conference. This began as an understated symposium, attended by 100 people in 2015 and it erupted into the most highly anticipated annual data science event in the UK. At the 2019 conference at the Arora O2 Women in Data welcomed more than 1500 attendees, and in 2020 thousands of data professionals attended a week of online Women in Data events and workshops. The message of diversity and equality is permeating into the data zeitgeist with each Women in Data® event we run. From the classrooms of Milton Keynes to the House of Lords, we have been working tirelessly to raise awareness of the issues and emphasise the value of female participation at every level. We collaborate with our corporate partners to stage regular Women in Data networking events throughout the year, providing opportunities for leaders in the field (mostly women) to share their knowledge and experiences via informative presentations and discussions. We intend to emphasise and celebrate the accomplishments of women because ‘you can’t be what you can’t see’. All Women in Data events are for women at every stage of their careers to connect with one another in a safe and stimulating environment. The demand for data science to become more inclusive and representative is growing, as evident in the generous support of our corporate partners, whose contributions enable us to run these events for free. Shalamar Children’s Homes – Isola, Cairn, and shortly Glebeland – are based in family-sized houses around rural Essex. We are residential children’s homes with a therapeutic approach. Our aim is to resolve issues in young people and not to merely contain them. We achieve this by using attachment-based care and to look for the communication behind any behaviour. We believe behaviour is a form of communication. We would look for the meaning behind all negative behaviour in the young people within our care. From this, we work with our young people helping them to not only to control their negative behaviours, but also attempting to work through the issues which are the cause of these behaviours. Shalamar carers use Dan Hughes’ PACE method to gain a positive attachment with the young people within our care. PACE stands for Playfulness – Acceptance – Curiosity – Empathy. Given time, we aim to create a stable, secure base and safe haven for all young people staying at Shalamar, allowing the space and the confidence to heal and develop. At Shalamar, there are daily community meetings where young people have the opportunity to voice any issues they have with their care, or state how it can be improved. This space allows for the young people to feel listened to, raising their confidence, self-esteem and making them feel valued and cared for. Shalamar’s work looks to change the negative way that young people view themselves and the adults around them. Through attachment-based nurture we restore their self-belief and provide positive experiences with adults who care. We understand that many children who display challenging behaviour have had trauma at some point in their life. This usually manifests itself in emotional developmental delay. Therefore we treat the child at their developmental/emotional age, rather than strict biological age. This creates a realistic and settled environment for the young person who can succeed and receive praise for their work and efforts. We also provide a psychodynamic behavioural approach, which is worked alongside the attachment framework, where we bring the subconscious to the conscious. This allows the young people to understand why they are feeling and acting the way they are and is the first step to taking control of their actions.
