The Survey Association - TSA

Newark On Trent

The Survey Association, known generally as TSA, is the trade body for commercial survey companies in the UK. The association was formed in 1979 to give a focus for private sector businesses in land and hydrographic survey. It is important to realise, however, that it is not a regulatory body. The role of TSA is to promote best practice amongst its members, provide a forum for members for discussion, debate and continuing professional development and, to the wider audience such as engineers and architects, provide guidance on new methods and techniques and a list of suitably qualified and experienced companies. Today, the association has over 200 companies in membership as full, associate, supplier, affiliate or academic members directly involved in the geospatial profession. TSA is also involved in lobbying Government departments when appropriate and other agencies such as the Environment Agency regarding policies likely to affect or involve the survey profession. TSA meets regularly with RICS and CICES on a range of issues and has established a group called the SLG, or Survey Liaison Group. This body convenes at regular intervals to examine matters of mutual interest and to ensure that there is little or no duplication of effort by the three bodies. Representatives from the Geospatial Commission also regularly join SLG meetings. I’m writing to share some important news about QA Dental Engineers. As some of you know, I started QA as a sole trader around 25 years ago, back when the industry was very different to the industry we see today. Due to an increasing client base, I expanded the company to include field engineers and office staff as was necessary and the company grew steadily over the years. With the advancement of technology and development of new techniques, we adjusted our practices to ensure we always stayed current and were able to continue to support our clients to the fullest of our ability. I’ve always been proud of the way our engineers have stepped up to the challenges posed by an ever-changing industry, their willingness to undertake further training and continuing professional development. I surrounded myself with an excellent team and we have always endeavoured to provide the best service we can. Unfortunately, with all that being said, times do change and things do come to an end. It is with regret that I have made the decision to close QA Dental Engineers. We will cease actively trading on the 31st of March 2022, although the office will be open until the 15th of April 2022 in order to give us time to wrap things up properly. I appreciate that this is very short notice, however, we had been hoping to reach an agreement with another company in order to enable us to continue trading (albeit under another name.) Unfortunately, this was not feasible and so we are still in the situation where we need to close our doors. We are not booking in any further service work or Pressure System Inspections in order to make sure we have enough capacity to cover breakdowns and repairs in the weeks we have available. We are unable to recommend another dental engineering company at this time. I personally am going to continue to create better practices for dentists by means of automation of vacuum & compressor systems. I’ve been involved in this for some time with my company Qcall Technologies UK, which some of you may be aware of. I will be available in this capacity for any enquiries you may have.
