The National Energy Foundation was established in 1988 by Milton Keynes Development Corporation to continue its work on energy efficient housing through its Energy World project. Energy World was a demonstration of 51 low-energy houses designed to be at least 30% more efficient than the Building Regulations then in force. The Foundation was set up to increase public awareness on the safe and efficient use of energy through demonstration and research. From 1993 to 2001 NEF worked closely with the Energy Saving Trust in setting up the UK’s network of Energy Efficiency Advice Centres (EEACs) and managed the network for the first five years. NEF went on to develop the National Home Energy Rating Scheme, which was run by a trading subsidiary (National Energy Services) from 1994 and in 1998 NEF established the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme for businesses which was transferred to the Carbon Trust in 2005 and later became the Carbon Trust Standard which continues to run to this day. Renewable energy was relatively unknown at this time and NEF became a thought leader as awareness began to grow and was at the forefront of educating the public on the latest developments. Through outreach events and working with schools, the team was introducing local people to the benefit’s renewable energy. When USEA (United Sustainable Energy Agency) merged with NEF in 2013, NEF started doing a lot of work on advice on domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty which grew into the projects still running today.

Dr Jeff Hardy has over 20 years of academic, policy and business experience in sustainable energy. He has helped clients worldwide understand the implications of zero carbon futures on business models and strategy, consumers, customers and citizens, policy and regulatory frameworks and energy systems.  Jeff is the Director of Sustainable Energy Futures Ltd, a consultancy providing clients with zero-carbon energy transformation advice, analysis and challenge. He is also Deputy Chair of the UK Power Networks Customer Engagement Group and a visiting researcher at the Grantham Institute at Imperial College London. Previously he was a Non-Executive Director of Public Power Solutions, Environment Mission Lead at Zinc, Head of Sustainable Energy Futures at the GB energy regulator, Ofgem and Head of Science for Work Group III of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He’s also worked at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the UK Energy Research Centre, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Green Chemistry Group at the University of York and at Sellafield as a research chemist in a nuclear laboratory.

Promoting trusted local companies that are able to install energy saving measures that work, and which use a local workforce, thereby helping to retain money in our local economies. Encouraging communities to work together to share knowledge and learning to create more vibrant and resilient places. Climate change will impact most on the vulnerable. We want to see a more significant leadership role from Local Authorities, preventative health organisations, faith networks, colleges and NGOs, able to influence, train and inspire in our shift to a low carbon society.

Energy Tennis combines a wholistic approach to tennis coaching, integrating body-mind awareness for all ages. Our focus is on the potential of the individual and gaining a greater understanding of ourselves and our energies and channelling it to grow. By placing an emphasis on the process as opposed to only the result, we believe we can encourage students to transform their competitive experience through paying attention to both their body and their inner process. This increase of awareness within the body and a simple non-judgmental ‘acceptance and allowing’ of whatever is there is the process by which ‘growth’ can happen. Based at the Ranelagh Club (Mount Eliza), we also run classes at North Seaford Tennis Club (Seaford), Wattle Park Tennis Courts (Surrey Hills) as well as homecourts.
