Offering in person Embroidery and other needle craft courses and workshops in Cumbria.  Also available online. I learned to sew and embroider at a very young age, with skills passed down through generations of Irish Grandmothers.  These skills have been honed with training from some of the worlds' leading embroidery schools such as Hand and Lock and the Royal School of Needlework in London. With over 25 years of experience, I own and operate the Maire Curtis Lakeland Studio and accept bespoke commissions from all over the world for individuals and couture designers. Growing up and living in the stunning Cumbrian Lake District provides an endless source of inspiration and when I am not stitching or designing, I am to be found up to my elbows in dirt in the garden or drawing and painting. Whilst face to face workshops prove very popular, I am now offering courses and workshops online to a wider audience.  This also allows people to learn at their own pace in the comfort of their home. Now that our courses are hosted directly via the Cademy website, you have instant access to dip in and out as you choose any time you want. COURSE FEATURES All of our courses feature in depth tuition with professional hints and tips supported by images and videos.  You also have direct tutor support for six months from registration.  Contact information will be provided in the course notes. A course pack will be posted to you upon registration but the course has been designed so that you can make a start straight away whilst you await your parcel. It has always held a fascination for me and exploring the history, techniques and examples of embroidery from around the world has been a joy as I have learned more and more about this extraordinary craft. As well as Day Classes, the Certificate and Diploma, Summer Intensive Certificate and the Degree modules at Hampton Court Palace, I have taught at the Victoria and Albert Museum, The British Library and The Royal Free Hospital. Currently I have a studio at Lancaster Castle though I spend a lot of my time teaching and embroidering elsewhere. I run workshops and teach classes for the RSN, at Hampton Court and in Lancaster. Recently I've taught at The Brewery Arts in Kendal; Swallows and Artisans, Coniston; Farfield Mill Sedbergh; and Cumbria's Museum of Military Life in Carlisle to name a few. I also run Embroidery Groups in Kendal and Lancaster. Alongside that I continue to exhibit, recently I've curated exhibitions at Farfield Mill, at Cumbria's Museum of Military Life in Carlisle, and Lancaster Castle. And I found time to do online courses for the RSN and for the School of Stitched Textile, host a holiday for Colouricious and talks for embroidery groups. During Covid I've also taught and tutored online. When I'm not busy with all this I love undertaking renovations, and have done work ranging from samplers to a Shabraque for the Parachute Regiment's pony. This versatility came in handy working as an expert with the BBC One Programme The Repair Shop. It's busy but great fun.

EMBROIDERY WORKSHOPS AND RETREATS Hosted in the heart of Cornwall LAUNCHING SOON.  We will be hosting a range of design-led embroidery workshops, embroidery retreats and textile related courses. The idea is to create a retreat for embroidery lovers who want to learn and/ or simply nurture their love for textiles. It is so important for our mental health to make time and space for ourselves; to create and be immersed in learning something new whilst switching off from the busy world around us. We would love to provide just that: a peaceful haven in which to learn and create.

Our focus is on reusing, recycling and upcycling existing garments. We hold workshops around London, encouraging participants to mend their favourite items of clothing instead of disposing them into landfill. Our workshops aim to introduce ways of mending clothing through various textile methods in order to fix, deconstruct or customise to revive much loved pieces. We aim to inspire people to learn new, invaluable skills and reconnect with textile techniques, encouraging creativity and mindfulness when it comes to your wardrobe. All of our workshops are available for special events and large group bookings - visit our PRIVATE EVENTS section to request a private booking. All of our workshops come with free tea, coffee and cake (including vegan options!) Here at RESTORATION LONDON we encourage mending your clothing and therefore offer a 10% discount to those bringing in their own item of clothing to either fix or use as fabric during the workshop.

Ecole Saint Clare runs a range of embroidery courses online dedicated to teaching the art and techniques of embroidery included in Tambour Beading and Goldwork.  Bespoke embroidery- Cheshire based Atelier Saint Clare was founded by Stephanie Bonneau, an embroidery artist and expert tutor.  Stephanie wanted to create her own atelier to create her own embroidery. She also wanted to transfer her knowledge and create a school. She created Ecole Saint Clare to bring a specialised training.

Hi, I'm Stephie (not Fred), An embroidery artist and creative based in Manchester. I'm inspired by the natural and the man(chester) made, and passionate about encouraging others to explore and express their creativity. I LOVE running workshops and sharing the joy of stitching and creating with others. I want people to leave a Hoop & Fred workshop feeling better than when they walked in and empowered to create. Maybe they’ll fall head over heels with embroidery as I did, or perhaps they will simply feel better for having spent a couple of hours trying their hand at something arty and leave feeling confident enough to try other new things.  All my workshops are suitable for beginners. I  ensure everyone gets the time they need to ask questions, and they leave with all the materials and knowledge required to finish their project at home.
