Metropolitan College of New YorkBorn out of the idealism and turbulence of the 1960s, Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY) was founded by Audrey Cohen, an innovative educator who believed the key to a truly effective education lay in uniting the classroom with the professional world. 1964 A udrey Cohen launched the Women’s Talent Corps in 1964, addressing a need for both jobs and training. The program prepared motivated women, with experience in their low-income neighborhoods, for jobs to assist their communities. Simultaneously, the Women’s Talent Corps worked to create a new level of “paraprofessional” positions in organizations and agencies: teacher’s assistant, guidance counselor assistant, paralegal. The 30-week training program included an eight-week classroom orientation, 10 weeks on-the-job training in a school or community agency, and 12 weeks of intensive work at the same organization. Students were then hired by those agencies. The one-year training program paid students $2 per hour to participate.

Since Suzy's departure from the business in 2021, Rachel has continued to lead Smiles of Quorn carrying forwards the same passion and ethos established when we first opened. Michelle Clancy is a fully qualified hands on beauty therapist & has been in the industry for 17 years. In 2004 Michelle became a nail technician, she found a love for nails & went on to do master classes in acrylic and gel nail enhancements and qualified as a Grand Master nail technician in 2009. Michelle is based in our Tavistock centre. Natalie Pearse has 5 years experience in the beauty industry, she has worked hands on as mobile therapist, also as assistant salon manager. Exploring how art and science can come together to benefit our health and wellbeing. Sarah has a personal interest in Neurology and Neuro diversity due to having drug resistant Epilepsy. Artist's Practice: Sarah L Goy MA, (Dis) - Animation Production. Sarah initially studied Fine Art and then Natural History Illustration, she now embraces the potential of the moving image. Her focus has always been on emotions, nature and her environment, with a specialisation in drawing and painting from life. Inspired by her travels she aims to capture every day moments in her sketch books, which are the foundations for all her other works. Although taking an analogue and tactile approach to her practice Sarah has become interested in the possibilities and potential of technology, experimental animation and the moving image and how they might be used beyond pure entertainment. This became part of her post graduate research in 2021 and continues to be the core of her research interest. As a visiting lecturer at Arts University Bournemouth ( AUB) and Southampton Art Gallery, she creates and presents new courses, with the emphasis on ' art for all'. Encouraging students to enjoy the process of creating and getting in touch with their inner child. Sarah also creates and runs online art therapy styled creative sessions, again, encouraging a sense of play through which new skills are gained, whilst encouraging a sense of community and inclusivity.

This has over time evolved into a program which holistically develops the cognition, physical skills, social interaction, imagination, creativity, communication, autonomy, musicality, confidence and love of learning in little ones. Over the 10 years Babylove has been running Claire has identified a real need to offer mums more support. To do this skillfully she has teamed up with LushTums founder Clare Maddalen, an inspiration in the ante natal, birth and post natal world. Currently Claire is completing Ante Natal training with Clare through her amazing Lush Tums Program.
