WRAP – Warwickshire Reminiscence Action Project – was set up 25 years ago to support and train people caring for older people in our community and began its life under the control of Warwickshire’s Community Education Service. Since then, WRAP’s support services have grown and adapted to their needs. We understand just how demanding looking after a loved one living with dementia can be. We’re here for you, whether it’s to lend an ear or help you access the training, funding and support you need. It’s estimated that around 850,000 people are living with dementia in the UK and 650,000 people are caring for a loved one living with dementia of some form, which can be lonely and overwhelming. Together we hope to make the valuable job you are already doing that little bit easier.

The Defence College is a UK-based organisation specialising on providing technical short courses to engineers and applied science professionals working in defence sector. It also offers engineering R&D consultancy services. The organisation is served by a number of highly experienced academics specialising in the defence technical educations. One such example is Dr Bidur Khanal. He is a senior academic with a long and established track record of teaching engineering courses in UK Higher Education sector. In particular, he has developed a niche in teaching/training defence engineering courses. He was working at Cranfield University’s Centre for Defence Engineering (CDE) as a lecturer in Complex Weapons, where he spent a number of years teaching defence engineering topics in military land vehicle propulsion, transmission system design, weapons design, and fighting vehicle design. He still supports CDE’s courses. Dr Khanal has delivered short courses to defence organizations (currently to US & UK Army and Canadian defence personnels) as an external consultant, and the teaching are focused on weapons engineering courses e.g. Military Engine Technologies, Military Tracked Vehicle Transmission Systems and Designs, Gun System Designs, Fighting Vehicle Design etc. Dr Khanal is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member of Royal Aeronautical Society, UK. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. He is also an active researcher in computational fluid dynamics, and has published numerous research articles in journals and conference proceedings. Some of his most recent research projects include CFD studies on large calibre gun muzzle brake flowfield, thrust reverser design, High-Pressure turbine blade design and transient missile release from a military aircraft. We are also supported by Major Santa Pun MBE, Major Pun is a senior advisor to Defence College. His experience in UK Military and continuing service in UK MOD means we are strategically supported by a defence professional with life long experience in defence.

Over the last 40 years we have developed a contextual approach to legal education which avoids treating the law as if it can be separated from other aspects of society. Students examine the impact of economic, cultural and political change on law and consider how it affects life beyond the court-room and the lawyer's office, as well as studying legal judgments and statutes. We also pride ourselves on providing excellent teaching. A significant number of colleagues have received a Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence – Dallal Stevens in 2011, James Harrison in 2011, Gary Watt in 2009 and Paul Raffield in 2008; in addition, Philip Kaisary and Jane Bryan received commendations in 2015 and 2014 respectively, and James Harrison received the Butterworth Award for Teaching Excellence in 2011. A number of our postgraduate research students have also received the equivalent award – Tim Dodsworth in 2013 and Adam Slavny (now an Assistant Professor) in 2012, with Natalie Byrom being commended in 2014. A number of colleagues are fellows of the national Higher Education AcademyLink opens in a new window (HEA). The HEA has also awarded National Teaching Fellowships (NFT) to Paul Raffield and Gary Watt in recognition of their outstanding achievements in teaching. Since there are only 500 NTFs across the UK as a whole, and 9 at Warwick, we are proud to host two of them. We encourage a comparative and international perspective on law which influences our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our staff and student body reflects this perspective, with students from twenty or more countries studying here at any one time, and teaching staff with varied backgrounds and extensive international experience or research interests.
