Funded by Wycombe District Council at a cost of more than half a million pounds and built on land owned by Buckinghamshire County Council, construction of the Lane End Youth & Community Centre commenced in July 2003. The Centre was officially opened in January 2004. The Centre is a modern, bright building offering facilities for recreation, sport, entertainment, education and information. It is also the ideal choice for PRIVATE HIRE. We have been successful in attracting numerous events – a regular youth club, dog training classes, fitness classes, health screening, educational activities including a computer class for beginners, private parties and even wedding receptions. Essentially, the Centre is provided for the benefit of all members of the community, with a focus on young people. The Community Centre is a multi-functional building which is highly adaptable and can cater for the needs of a wide spectrum of local residents. The building is also fully wheelchair accessible.

Steve has managed one of the busiest SEND IASS (formerly known as Parent Partnership) services in the country for a London Local Authority. In this time Steve has undertaken significant training and continual professional development accredited by the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority. Steve has provided a service to over 1000 parents and has delivered over 100 workshops on specific areas of SEN. In addition to his wealth of knowledge on SEN legal frameworks Steve has an in-depth knowledge of how Local Authorities function, including their decision making processes. Steve has held key strategic positions on the SEN reforms management board for Local Authorities, helping to design the new polices, procedures and key documents for the revised statutory assessments and Education Health and Care Plans. In that time, she has worked alongside her husband Richard for 14 years and now works with her full-time assistant Birgit to care for her childminding children. Lorna has gained a huge amount of experience in that time which she draws upon in her teaching of childcare courses. Lorna’s teaching qualifications include a BA (Hons) in Education (PCET) and the NVQ assessor’s award. She also has ‘Early Years Professional’ (EYP) status for her work as a childminder. Lorna has been teaching for over 15 years and as a childcare tutor has worked for PACEY and Hampshire Learning. She trains childminders, preschool and nursery staff in her local area in small face to face group sessions; and by webinar for all childcare providers both close by and further afield. After gaining her Arts Degree from Sheffield City Polytechnic, Janet set up her silversmithing business in London where she was based for ten years. She moved to Berkshire where she has stayed, initially becoming Jeweller in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre and now teaching her own classes in Woodley. She has been making and teaching jewellery for over 40 years and has had the pleasure of seeing her students enjoy learning about jewellery making and some of her students have chosen to go on to run their own jewellery business. Her designs concentrate on form and technique. Flow, texture and carving informs most of her work. She likes her work to be timeless, enhance the body and come to life when worn by the owner. Her work continues to be exhibited here in Britain and abroad, has featured in a variety of publications including Vogue and is part of the contemporary jewellery collection at the Dallas Museum of Art, USA.
