WRAP – Warwickshire Reminiscence Action Project – was set up 25 years ago to support and train people caring for older people in our community and began its life under the control of Warwickshire’s Community Education Service. Since then, WRAP’s support services have grown and adapted to their needs. We understand just how demanding looking after a loved one living with dementia can be. We’re here for you, whether it’s to lend an ear or help you access the training, funding and support you need. It’s estimated that around 850,000 people are living with dementia in the UK and 650,000 people are caring for a loved one living with dementia of some form, which can be lonely and overwhelming. Together we hope to make the valuable job you are already doing that little bit easier.

I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to take up the mantle of Headteacher at Tewkesbury School. When I first visited the school and the town back in 2021, I was struck by the community feel, the passion for the town and the dedication of the staff team for all the young people. I distinctly remember the pride with which the student guides spoke of the school and of their community and the ambition the team at Tewkesbury School had for every student. This will be my second Headship in the South West and my 20th year in education and I am excited to guide Tewkesbury School through its next phase. Headteachers are custodians of schools on behalf of young people and it will be my privilege to work with the whole community from governors, parents, students, colleagues and primary colleagues to other partners in the town, county and region to make sure Tewkesbury School is strong, effective and serving our children to the best of its ability. The greatest successes come from working together towards a common cause and there is no better cause than the education of the next generations. I am keenly ambitious about our future as a school so will continue the drive towards the highest standards academically and behaviourally whilst still ensuring we remain an inclusive school serving the Tewkesbury community. The educational landscape is shifting and changing at a national, regional and local level yet, despite that, there is nothing more important than making sure our young people are well prepared to step out into the world with confidence and understanding as a result of great teaching and a broad range of experiences. Everything I do will link back to preparing our young people to be successful in their next steps in life. Worcestershire Youth Musical Theatre is an innovative musical theatre education through experiential learning with excellent performance opportunities in Worcestershire Theatres. Wymsical Theatre began its life in 2016 with the aim of providing more solo and duet opportunities than the average youth theatre by presenting regular revue shows focussing on two contrasting composers/genres. Originally based at the Worcester Arts Workshop, when the workshop sadly closed in 2020, Wymsical found a new home for rehearsals at Powick Parish Hall. An exciting development from 2020 is that our Wymsicals now have new homes for performance and will be performed in various small local theatres including The Rose Theatre, Kidderminster and The Norbury Theatre, Droitwich. With three age specific groups ranging from 6-20, our talented team of directors and tutors raise gifted performers, adroit in combining the triple skills of acting, singing and dancing. Whilst not formal "grade" style training, these sessions aim to provide a mixture of core skill workshops and experiential learning through regular musical revues- "Wymsicals" and regular book musicals.

Concern surrounding underachievement of young males was brought into sharp focus in 2007 by the independent REACH report. Sponsored by The Home Office, The Department for Communities and Local Government and The Department for Education and Families, the report explored the costs associated with the problems that can arise from a disadvantaged socio-economic background, in this case specifically for young black males. These costs are associated with over-representation in the Criminal Justice System and reduced gross earnings and taxes associated with educational underachievement. They are estimated at £808 million a year and could amount to £24 billion over the next 50 years if the underlying issues are not addressed. From a working-class background himself, Clive attributes his corporate career success to hard work and maintaining a positive attitude. A key finding of the REACH report was a lack of positive male role models, particularly black male role models, in the media and the lives of young men. Clive knows from experience that the socio-economic gap to success can be bridged – he has held a number of senior level HR positions, is a company director and was awarded an OBE in 2010 for his contributions to the REACH report and the workplace mediation industry. Thus his involvement in the REACH report, together with his own personal experience, has inspired the development of the Bridge Builders Mentoring Scheme.

This will be achieved through activities, which include the strategic design and delivery of interactive and engaging programmes of study through to small online skills based learning courses (eg MOOCs), or through active support of and advice about an institutions’ innovation and change agenda. Background The journey of today’s learners in the 21st century needs to reflect a world where shifting job roles and new technologies will impact significantly on career development. This is underpinned by current estimates about new millenials: They are estimated to work in some 15 to 20 job roles over their lifetime, The majority expect to work beyond 65 years of age (and 12% until they die), It is estimated that 65% of today’s school children will work in a job that doesn’t yet exist. Having the necessary skills and up to date knowledge and understanding to underpin multiple job roles over a lifetime will require a commitment to lifelong learning. With increasing state pension ages and average life expectancy worldwide this drives the need for educational solutions to support individuals gaining access to the right job roles and career development. Traditional models of higher education are increasingly costly for learners in developed markets and short of supply (and out of reach in terms of price) for learners in emerging economies. Innovative solutions are needed.

Cheltenham Tutors Ltd was founded at the start of the pandemic with the purpose of providing affordable and accessible tuition to students. With schools closing and all learning being remote, we thought that there was a need to offer additional educational support to schools, families, and children. We also thought that this tuition should be accessible to all. We therefore provided affordable online tuition throughout the pandemic and we worked with local schools and families to deliver hundreds of hours of online tutoring. 9am to 3pm each day, we logged on to support students in their learning and to offer 1-2-1 teaching. We greatly enjoyed working with all the wonderful schools, families, and students and making a difference to the education of many children. Now that life is returning to normal and schools are fully open again, we continue to offer affordable tuition to schools and we are happy to take on private clients as well. We offer our tutoring predominantly face to face. What we do We specialise in meeting students where they are at and moving them forward in their learning. Because we are run by teachers, we know what students need to cover in their curriculum, where they should be academically, and how best to accelerate progress in learning. We also believe that all students are capable of making good progress, and that it is normal to struggle and need extra help. The tutoring we provide is professional, effective, and supportive. It starts with getting to know the student and moves onto boosting academic performance, all in an atmosphere which is personal and supportive.
