Local Partnerships We have four educational sport partners; Halifax RLFC, Huddersfield Town FC, FC Halifax Town and Bradford Dragons Basketball Club. These partners provide us with coaching and facilities for our Sport Academy students. NEVER WAS SO MUCH 'STILL' OWED BY SO MANY, TO THE 'FORGOTTEN FEW' OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. On June 4th 1940, following the evacuation of British and Allied forces from the beaches of Dunkirk and the decimation of the British Army, all that stood between German invasion of Britain was a 20 mile stretch of the English Channel and the pilots of the RAF’s Hurricane, Spitfire and bomber squadrons, later to be called ‘The Few’. And so began the Battle of Britain. Among the brave airmen who fought in the skies above Britain during the Battle and after, were a few Polish fighter pilots, volunteers, our first Allies who had been ordered to evacuate across German-occupied Europe to continue the fight for the defence of France and then Britain. Sadly at the end of the war they never formally received the recognition they, we feel deserved, and were not wholly allowed to participate in the VE Day celebrations. We call them ‘The Forgotten Few’ and want to change this to ensure there is a lasting remembrance, unity, legacy and education (RULE) for all generations. You can help us with this by simply sharing this website and telling your friends, family, teachers and frankly, anyone else. We are also developing education packs that we hope to supply to schools wishing to participate, ensuring children can continue to learn about the sacrifice made for their future. My name is Sarah Colombini and I am very privileged to be the Headteacher at Ribston Hall High School. At Ribston, we know that every child is different. Our ethos is to enable and empower young women to discover their own unique potential. We believe that each child's individuality should be encouraged and developed. This is achieved by offering an all-round holistic education where we value all of the subjects we teach, and have worked hard to ensure students receive a broad learning experience in many different subjects that are not always on offer at other schools. As a Biologist, I recognise the value of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths), particularly in the education of women as these areas are under-represented in undergraduate study and pursuance of careers in these fields. This is something I would like to change by encouraging those that are interested to consider STEM at this school and view its study as an opportunity and a gateway to a multitude of careers. Having recently heard the news that we have been successful in securing £1.5 million to build our new science block, we are excited that this will support our aim as well as providing our primary partnership schools an opportunity to experience and engage in science learning with us too. Our key strength is the underpinning care and support we provide our students – this is because we know that you cannot succeed if you are not happy. Equipping young people with the tools to cope and succeed is what we do well; we nurture our students to be physically and mentally fit to thrive in the 21st century. Student wellbeing really is at the heart of what we do at Ribston.

Humans are by nature complex insular and self-protective. Conversely, they are also extremely curious and impulsive. In our fast-paced technology led world the art of the conversation is rapidly being side-lined in favour of the safety and anonymity of email and text. But what when we find ourselves in the situation of having a difficult conversation with a real human face to face? A recent study by Globis, the Japanese Graduate School of Management, revealed that 53% of respondents to their “Difficult conversations” survey consciously avoided any conversation where there was a chance of conflict. The reasons provided were lack of appropriate training and lack of experience. The need to reverse this trend through education is both timely and relevant. We aim to provide quality and affordable E-learning products which focus on all aspects of human behaviour for both business and personal relationships. This site has been called ‘the wilderness’ for a thousand years. It dates back to Saxon times when the Forest of Dean, the ancient woodland between the River Severn and the River Wye, was designated royal hunting forest. Looking from the vantage point of The Wilderness Centre down to the River Severn, you can clearly see the broad curves of the river heading out to the Bristol Channel. Over the course of a day you’ll see the tide ebb and flow - the second highest tidal range in the world - and be able to pick out the villages along the River’s bank that were once thriving Roman ports trading throughout the Mediterranean. The current house is Georgian, built in the early nineteenth century as a family home. In the early twentieth century the site became a children’s hospital, specialising in infectious diseases. In the 1960’s Gloucestershire County Council acquired The Wilderness Centre, turning it into an outdoors education and nature studies centre serving the county’s schools. Dan and Sophie Sturdy bought The Wilderness in 2015 as a key location in their vision for human potential and growth.

Mother of 4, midwife and self confessed birth nerd. I had my first baby at 19 years, I started my midwifery training in 2010, started working as a qualified midwife for the NHS in 2014 and then continued to grow my family. That's over 12 years of either helping women in pregnancy and supporting them giving birth or experiencing it myself. Why? Not enough support and too much judgement I'm a big believer that birth isn't just a means to an end. It's the mark of the end of a pregnancy and the start of being a mother. You will always remember the day you give birth and how it makes you feel. It is your stepping stone into motherhood and can shape your experience of early motherhood and your relationship with your baby. Birth isn't just about one day. Birth matters. Yet, the support out there is lacking. The private antenatal education and hypnobirthing scene is filled to the brim with duff advice and opinions over evidence based advice. You can train to teach pregnant women about birth in just a 3 day course, without even having supported a single woman in labour.

The Diocese of Gloucester Academies Trust (DGAT) is a multi-academy trust established by the Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) in 2012. The inspiring courage of the Dominican Sisters of St Rose Convent in Stroud, led them to found St Rose’s in 1912. Set in beautiful grounds within walking distance to the centre of Stroud we offer a nurturing and social environment for students to develop their independence. We provide education, therapy and day and residential care for children and students aged 2 to 25, with a wide range of disabilities, including Autism. In our nursery we have mainstream children, as well as children with disabilities. Many of our students have physical disabilities, as well as sensory, learning and communication difficulties; some also have complex health needs. Parents and carers trust us implicitly. Our very individual and flexible approach means we can easily adapt the programme for each student. As their needs and aspirations change and they develop, we offer new opportunities to support their personal growth and independence. Our integrated team of dedicated and specialist staff makes this possible. As well as specialist teaching staff, we have our own therapeutic staff on site, offering a range of therapies, including physio, speech and language, occupational, aquatic, massage and music. We have our own hydrotherapy pool. We also offer specialist medical support, 24 hours a day. Our staff are truly exceptional, and the trust we build with families is very strong. We also provide individual programmes through strong links with mainstream schools and FE colleges, so students can specialise and flourish where their aspirations lie. Fun and achievement exist side-by-side and we celebrate success in many ways. Students enjoy many social occasions and events held at St Rose’s and St Martin’s and at outside venues.
