It changed my entire philosophy on childbirth and led me to understand the importance of women centred, evidence based birth education, support and preparation. On a personal level I experienced two incredible home water births and believe that a healthy baby should be the baseline, not the pinnacle of expectation, when we become mothers. The Bishop Fraser Trust - A Church of England Multi Academy Trust What is a Multi Academy Trust? A multi-academy trust (MAT) is a single organisation established to improve and maintain high educational standards across a number of member schools. Through collaboration and partnership the member schools are able to share expertise and resources. A MAT has responsibility for the overall governance, finance and performance of the member schools. Who were the initial member schools of the MAT? The Bishop Fraser Trust was established in December 2017 with two outstanding schools in Bolton. Canon Slade School and St James’s CE High School came together as convertor academies with the ambition to secure best practice, uphold the positive aspects of tradition and a provide distinctive Christian education for our families. We were delighted to welcome Bolton St Catherine’s Academy in May 2018 as a sponsored academy and Bury Church of England High School joined us as a convertor academy in January 2022. What is the vision at The Bishop Fraser Trust? Our vision is: To allow all children to experience ‘life in all its fullness’, no matter what their starting point. Adult Dyslexia Consulting Ltd was founded by Sally-Ann Morrison with the aim of making assessments for adults more accessible. She has worked in this field for more than 20 years and holds a Masters degree in Adult Dyslexia Diagnosis and Support (ADDS). After completing a degree in Linguistics (York), she worked in adult education and was the Dyslexia Co-ordinator at a large FE college for ten years, simultaneously delivering the Postgraduate Diploma in ADDS for London South Bank University in the North West of England. Following her role as Senior Lecturer on an AMBDA accredited Pg Cert programme, she founded ADC Ltd, and works as an independent SpLD assessor and trainer. The majority of her SpLD assessment work is with FE and HE students, and she also provides specialist tuition and workplace assessment and training. Sally-Ann is a member of the Patoss APC Review team and holds a current Assessment Practising Certificate. All assessments are undertaken under the guidelines issued by the Spld Assessment Standards Committee (SASC). Sally-Ann is fully insured and quality assured. Her mission is to ensure that the assessment process is accessible, meaningful and of direct relevance to the individual so as to provide reassurance, identification of strengths, and suggesting ways forward to ensure equality and the challenging of barriers in both education and the workplace

Our children’s centre is part of the wider Wigan Council Start Well network offering the activities that you can enjoy. We provide support and services for the communities of Hindley and Hindley Green; Abram and Platt Bridge; Ashton and Bryn. Start Well Family Centres are working with residents and supporting them to get involved in the Start Well offer, building on the attributes and strengths of communities in the borough. Our Start Well Family Centre offers families with young children the opportunity to access good quality early years provision and other health, family support and employment related services. Founded in 2016, Breakdown Bolton is a community interest company which is peer led by qualified and experienced artists who have had experience of mental health issues. We work in many different art forms and aim to offer our participants high quality arts classes, exhibition, and cultural opportunities. We do this by promoting high level creativity, individual expression, and empowerment through art, in a safe and positive environment for those across the Greater Manchester region. At Breakdown Bolton we focus on increasing accessibility to art for those with lived experience of mental health and substance misuse issues. We are passionate about breaking down the barriers, stigma and prejudice and raising awareness of these issues. Breakdown Bolton can provide a stepping stone towards further artistic development for a person whose education, employment, and creative practices have been interrupted by poor mental health or substance misuse issues. At Breakdown Bolton we have a diverse range of skills within the team which we use to develop and deliver projects of the highest quality. We are professional artists educated at University level, having had visual artwork and writing published and commissioned. Our members have been awarded both individual and collective grants from bodies such as the Arts Council and are Unltd Alumni. In 2017, Breakdown Bolton was nominated for a National Diversity Award. Since then, we have been recipients of a New Art Space through Castlefield Gallery, worked closely with NeoArtists in Bolton, and have forged strong working partnerships with regional arts education organisations such as theatres, galleries, and local community services.

Odette has worked as a primary school teacher and Local Authority Primary Languages Consultant. She has been a speaker at national and local primary MFL events and has worked with The British Council, universities and local authorities in France and Spain to provide intensive language training and job shadowing opportunities for UK, Spanish and French teachers. She has also been a trainer for the Department for Education Language Improvement Programme (with CfBT). Now working as an independent language consultant, Odette continues to support schools with their MFL development, providing courses, training, workshops, INSETs and in-class support. She is currently an external tutor for the Primary PGCE General & Specialist Languages Programme at Manchester University, a member of NALA (the National Association of Language Advisers).

All students on roll, currently 171, have an EHCP, Education, Health and Care Plan. The school is organised into 19 classes within three departments, Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. In each Key Stage there is provision for students with more complex needs, who follow a sensory curriculum. Some classes have a more specialised and highly structured environment to meet the needs of our students with ASD. We have a policy for teaching students with ASD and apply specialist approaches and interventions consistently throughout school. We have an increasing number of high functioning ASD students.

This year, we are proud to be able to report that our year 12 cohort is the biggest the sixth form has ever had, and we are almost at capacity for student numbers. This means sixth form is a vibrant community and our year 12 cohort have made an excellent start to the year, stepping up to the rigour of A Level study with ease. As you may know, our sixth form is unique in the central Preston area as we offer the option for both A Level and BTEC courses in a small, safe environment with a maximum class size of 10 students. This means that our expert staff are able to get to know students well, provide them with 1-1 support and ensure they are both challenged and supported academically, so all students make excellent progress. Our smaller size also allows us to ensure that students maintain social distancing, whilst providing a full face-to-face teaching timetable. This means that students have access to specialist teachers full time and online learning is only used for homework or independent learning. This is an exciting time for our sixth form, and I am proud to be a part of the journey we are on.
