If you are here, we are guessing that you might be expecting a baby, adopting, becoming parents through surrogacy, or fostering a baby for the first time... After all, there are many ways to becoming parents, and we are here to support you on this very exciting, yet at times daunting journey. All our New-born Care Specialists come from a midwifery background, some continuing to work in busy NHS hospitals alongside providing private, one to one care with families. Therefore, the team is very familiar with the "ins and outs" of the Maternity Ward and can prepare you for a hospital birth, if this is what you have decided, or support you in finding the right birthing options for you. Once your baby is born or has arrived home, we can offer you night support to help you establish breastfeeding (or bottle feeding if breastfeeding is not an option for you), help you understand the sleep behaviour of your baby and ease you into parenthood. Unlike most postnatal care out there, we do not ask you to commit to many weeks or months with us! You can book as little or as many nights (or days, or even hours) as you wish, including last minute support, day or night! We understand that it difficult to predict how you will cope in the initial postnatal period and therefore we want to make sure we offer you tailor- made, holistic support. Keeping in mind that this is all new to you, our approach is gentle, kind and non-judgemental while the advice and care we provide you with is all up to date and evidence based using current guidelines and studies. Breastfeeding is at the heart of our care; however, we are aware of the challenges new mothers often meet. We are here to support you and ensure you give it your best shot! We are always extremely grateful and honoured to be part of your journey, watching you grow in your role as a parent. This is why I became a counsellor, I qualified in 1998 and later achieved my registered/accredited status with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Jackie and Terry Lawer run Capable Canines Cornwall. Terry has a fantastic wealth of knowledge in all things canine, having been involved in dog training for over thirty years. He and Jackie own three Border Collies and a Miniature American Shepherd. Jackie deals with all matters to do with running the business and its administration. She is an Agility Club Approved Instructor, as well as being a qualified teacher, who has taught in Secondary and Adult Education. Jackie currently competes with one of her collies in agility. Tarn is Grade 7: the highest grade achievable in UK. Tarn has competed at two UKA National Finals and Jackie has also competed at a KC ABC (anything but a collie) National Final with her crossbreed, Zeus, many years ago now! She is also bringing on a youngster, due to start competing in Grade 2 shortly. Terry competes with Exe in Grade 4. Both Jackie and Terry have been Agility Judges. Jackie is also a Scentwork UK Judge and Trial Manager, currently working Tarn at Level 5 and Dart at Level 2 in this discipline. Arena We are lucky enough to have the use of an excellent training venue in Shortlanesend. Access is really easy and only takes a few minutes from Truro in the south or the A30 in the north. The venue offers hard-standing for parking and a really large outdoor school. We are told it is 25 x 45 m but it seems even bigger! The surface is a sand and felt mix and stands up very well to all types of weather! The British Society of Gerontology was established in 1971. It provides a multidisciplinary forum for researchers and other individuals interested in the situations of older people, and in how knowledge about ageing and later life can be enhanced and improved. Until 1979, the Society was known as the British Society of Social and Behavioural Gerontology. BSG is a registered charitable company (Charity number: 264385) and is the professional organisation representing gerontologists in Britain. The Society was elected as a member of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) in 1987, and is affiliated to many other organisations in the UK and abroad. As a learned society, our aim is to advance gerontological research, education, theory and practice. We are active in raising the profile of ageing and in drawing attention to its social, economic and policy implications. To this end, we are working to a five year (2015-2020) strategy entitled ‘Raising the Profile of Ageing Research in a Changing World‘. This aims to position the BSG as a world leader in the development of ageing research. To accomplish this aim, BSG brings together researchers, practitioners, educators, policy-makers, students and older people. Our members have varied backgrounds and come from: the social and behavioural sciences; humanities; medicine; health; housing; social care; nursing; policy arenas and voluntary agencies. The society is also in the process of updating a formal agreement with CPU in collaboration with CPA in relation to the publication of Ageing and Society. The Society publishes a regular journal – Generations Review; was instrumental in the establishment of Ageing and Society – one of the premier peer-reviewed journals in the field; and is responsible for a range of other publications including a Directory of Members’ interests and ‘Making the Case for the Social Sciences: No 2, Ageing’. My name is Sinem Er. I am practicing yoga since 2005 and sharing my passion since 2010. I teach Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, with a focus on Vinyasa Flow, Hatha and Restorative yoga. I am the founder of Now Yoga Limited UK and I was featured in Linda Sparrowe’s book ‘Yoga At Home – Inspiration for creating your own home practice’ published by Universe Press and Yoga Journal among many other world-renowned yoga teachers. I received my first teacher training certificate from beloved Zeynep Aksoy in 2009, and then in 2010 I met my root teacher Cyndi Lee, the first western female yoga teacher to integrate yoga and Buddhism, the founder of the legendary OM Yoga School and I am her student ever since. In 2018, I had the honor of translating her book ‘Yoga Body, Buddha Mind’into Turkish. What I learned from her radically changed my perspective and my relationship with myself, the world, and the teachings of yoga. As I began to observe myself in the light of Buddhist teachings, my practice has actually become a reminder that everything is interconnected, that everything that happens, everything we do, every word we say is planting a seed and vinyasa is a physical expression of the fact that nothing and no one can exist separately, but that everything is interconnected and interdependent.
