Ignite was established in 2018 by James Shimmin, a Primary PE specialist, who has over 11 years of experience as a Freelance Sports Coach. James found his love for coaching at the age of 16 whilst working as junior football coach for York City Football Club. After graduating from York St John University with an honours degree in Physical Education and Sports Coaching in 2013, his love for coaching took him to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and Ghana.

Hi, I'm Emma the founder of Wild Things. After working in education, Children's Centres and becoming a mum of two active boys I was keen to develop an environment where families can come together to play in nature. Wild Things initially ran in parks throughout York, until I discovered the unused wooded area in the grounds of a York High School, Millthorpe. After running sessions for a few years it became apparent that the adults were keen to attend events as well. During the pandemic I started creating activity packs for children and then for adults.
