I am a glass artist based on the edge of the Pennine town of Hebden Bridge where I work from my home studio creating kiln formed glass work. My work is all fused glass which involves several processes – design, hand cutting from sheets of glass, use of glass powders and enamels, flame work, kiln carving and finally multiple kiln firings and cold working by hand. A keen cyclist, I spend much of my spare time cycling the beautiful hills of Yorkshire and holidays cycling the French Alps and Pyrenees. I take inspiration from my love of the local landscape of hills and mill towns and my passion for cycling. My current work celebrates both Yorkshire and my excitement about the Tour de France coming to the area.

Bookham Rifle Club was founded as the Bookham Home Guard Rifle Club in 1943, shooting in a range on the Grove Estate in Great Bookham. The Club soon outgrew this facility and moved to its current site at Thorncroft Drive in the early 1950s. The Club is built in the old walled garden of Thorncroft Manor at the southern edge of Leatherhead and is in a beautifully rural setting. All the ranges are laid to lawn with all weather covered firing points. There are five ranges offering a choice of Match Rifle, Lightweight Sporting Rifle, Air Rifle and Air Pistol. The Club also has an established Hunter Field Target section. In 2006 we built our new Lottery funded air rifle/pistol range with ten firing points at 10 metres and two points at 20 metres. A second prestigious ‘Awards for All Joint Lottery Grant’ in 2007 enabled the Club to replace the old sporting rifle facility with a brand new range of eight points at 20 yds. In 2015, the Club received further funding from Sport England, Veolia and the Thomas Flack Fund to replace the dilapidated clubhouse and enclose the air range. Following this major rebuilding project, Bookham Rifle Club now has a large airy clubhouse, a fully enclosed heated air range and an enclosed firing point on the prone rifle 25yd range. Numbered amongst its members the Club has several national and international standard marksmen including two Queens Prize winners and National Smallbore Champions as well as two competitors at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. We regularly enter teams in County and National competitions.

We follow the structured examination syllabus of the Royal Academy of Dance and pupils are entered for examinations from Pre Primary to Advanced 2 level. However exams are not compulsory, importance is placed on enjoyment and appreciation of dance as a physical and expressive activity and art form. Body conditioning is incorporated into all classes from Grade 1 to Advanced 2 level. Contemporary Dance is also offered and considered an important part of the training of a classical dancer. The new Rambert Grades training program was introduced in 2020. Pupils are accepted into the school from 3 years of age and all are invited to take part in the school’s own production which is held approximately every two years at the Nottingham Playhouse. Alongside a passion for dance and teaching at Gedling Ballet School, Dawn trained at Nottingham University as a Physiotherapist and worked within the NHS for a number of years. Dawn attends training events held by the RAD and Royal Ballet School and has completed the Royal Ballet School Inspire Series 1 and the first seminar of Inspire To Be Series 2. A former member of the RAD committee for the Midlands and East of England region and awarded life membership of the RAD in 2020 after 42 years of membership. Susie King Former pupil of Gedling Ballet School, performed with Birmingham Royal Ballet in a number of productions notably as young Morgan le Fay in the Ballet 'Arthur' at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and on UK tour with BRB. A Royal Ballet Associate student Susie at age 14 accepted a scholarship place at Elmhurst Assoc. School of Birmingham Royal Ballet, and then completed her training at Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance, BA (Hons) followed by Rambert MA. Professional work includes Ballet Theatre UK, Ampersandance, Royal Shakespeare Company and Medea with English National Opera at the London Coliseum. Former ballet coach at the National Ice Arena and dance teacher at NCN, Susie now also teaches for dance schools based in London and Watford.
