Glastonbury

I grew up in a little market town in the East Midlands, happily in awe of the magic buzzing beneath the tapestry of existence in the countryside surrounding me, making childhood potions from crushed herbs and flowers and sneaking home Esoteric books to read from the library. At 18, I grew restless with a curiosity about the world and quit college to save up, travel, and spend time learning from the hidden tribes and global communities I had read so much about. My travels expanded my understanding around magic and how ritual had manifested in different indigenous cultures beyond our Celtic origins. Here, I began my journey training to become a Reiki healer (and eventually teacher), with a personal earth mission to also contribute as much healing, light and joy to our planet as possible. By my twenties I had returned home, moved to the city and anchored myself back into a decade of education. I gained a PGCE qualification as a secondary school art teacher and finished a University Degree; a BA Honours in Creative Therapies where I focused my dissertation on the healing power of Creative Ritual and Art in Psychotherapy. Following this, I worked for 5 years as a Creative Therapist as part of an Intensive intervention Team for Children in Social Care, whilst also founding and managing London's Activist Art group 'The People's Tribe' to try and promote positive change in society with creativity (and of course, rebellion!) As I approached my thirties, I began to delve deep into my own shadow work and healing, which lead me to explore the healing potential of plant medicines, shamanic rituals and tincture making. One summer, I softened, decided it was time to return back to the countryside and challenged myself to set off at sunset for an overnight pilgrimage. I mapped out the leylines and followed them on foot, walking 12 hours by myself through the night, singing songs to the stars and arrived at sunrise on the mystical lands of Glastonbury for the first time, where I began my training in Celtic Shamanism.... and never left! I'm humbled to live a harmonious and gentle life here upon the mystical lands of Avalon. From this sacred motherland, I forage and make flower tincture medicines from the earth and sculpt personalised wands from the fallen branches of the ancient orchards. More than anything, I love to compassionately hold space for others walking the sacred path of initiation or undertaking healing/ shadow work. (We're at a very interesting moment in history where nothing is more important than this!) I do this using therapy, ritual, ceremony, playfulness and creativity to help alchemise and empower individuals to step into the highest version of themselves and it brings me so much joy to see the light returning, one by one, to the beautiful tribe we know as the human race. Let's rise together and remember who we really are as we make the journey back home to ourselves!

Poole

Shine is the only UK charity that support adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have experienced a cancer diagnosis. There is never a good time to have cancer, but we know that younger adults face different issues than their older or younger counterparts. Many of these are not dealt with by traditional cancer support charities and services. Our vision, mission and strategy In January 2022, we finalised a new five-year strategy. We have updated our vision and mission statements and articulated our values. We will use these to underpin five strategic objectives that will guide Shine’s focus and attention between 2022 and 2027. Vision We want every adult in their 20s, 30s and 40s who is diagnosed with cancer to know they’re not alone, and to have the support, knowledge, and confidence to navigate whatever cancer throws their way. Mission There’s never a good time for a cancer diagnosis, but in your 20s, 30s or 40s there are particular challenges to navigate, like work, dating, finances and more. At Shine, we’ve been there and we get it. We’re here to help you deal with everything that your diagnosis brings, before, during and after treatment, and to welcome you into our community. Our values Inclusive – Our services are open to anyone in their 20s, 30s and 40s with a cancer diagnosis, no matter what type or stage, when your diagnosis was, or what your background is. Approachable – We want everyone in Shine’s community to feel welcomed and to feel able to get involved, and we design all our services to be friendly, fun and down-to-earth. Authentic – We’re patient-led and passionate, and we want everyone involved to have a genuine and honest voice, with patients at the heart of our work. Innovative – As a small charity, we’re adaptable and agile, and we are responsive to needs as they change. We listen to what Shine’s community is saying and strive to find practical solutions. Empowering – Our services aren’t about us “doing” to or “for” you. We want to empower you to ask the right questions, get the right information, take control, and make the best decisions for yourself. Our strategic objectives Connect – build a nationwide community of younger adults with cancer and the people around them, reducing isolation and supporting their physical and mental well-being. Inform – ensure that younger adults with cancer have access to the knowledge and support they need to make the best decisions for them. Influence – grow our influencing position and partnerships to shape a healthcare system and wider support that is suitable for the needs of young adults with cancer. Reach – increase the profile and reach of Shine, aiming for every young adult diagnosed with cancer to have access to our services and support. Build – invest in Shine’s internal capacity, governance and sustainability to build firm foundations for growth. Our goal is for these strands to come together to enable better wellbeing for younger adults with cancer, improved relationships and less isolation, more informed decision-making, and systems that are better able to meet our community’s needs. Our history Shine started in Dorset in 2008 as a non-traditional support group for young adults. Emma and Justine were both diagnosed with cancer at a young age and had a hard time finding others that the could relate to. They realised there was a huge lack of support for younger adults with cancer and the idea for Shine was born. Within the first year, they had connected with over 100 young adults in Dorset. In 2010, Emma met Ceinwen. They launched Shine in London and the UK’s first research into the unmet needs of young adults diagnosed with cancer. Ceinwen and Emma then developed events and activities that would support the gaps identified in the research. Shine was registered as a charity in 2012, and has since supported thousands across the UK Shine has local Shine Networks across the UK and runs a number of annual events including Shine Camp, the Great Escape retreat, and Shine Connect, the UK’s only conference for young adults with cancer. Shine also runs a number of highly-rated workshops on topics such as working after cancer and managing anxiety and depression. As a patient-led organisation, Shine works hard to ensure that young adults with cancer play a key role in the design and delivery of all activities. Shine is supported by a Board of Trustees as well as a patron, Oliver Spencer, and a number of corporate supporters including TTA and Travel Insurance Facilities.

Blue Ink Trust

Blue Ink Trust “Transform Generations – Sponsor a Boarding Student for £300 for whole year.” Dear colleagues if you are able to read these lines then you are fortunate. There are hundreds of thousands of children as well as adult who are illiterate and, rather helping themselves and others, need assistance in everyday life. Since the existence of world, human beings have not witnessed anything being rained from the sky except water, however, anything you desire is possible to achieve and all things available on this planet have been invented by human beings. There is also no doubt that all inventions are a product of education. From the pen we write with to the papers we write on all are amazing inventions and are products of education. At Blue Ink Trust we believe that every human being must be literate and educated. The world with literate and educated human beings would be far better place. In many third world countries education is a privilege thing which everyone does not deserve to have neither everyone can afford it. Nonetheless the fact is that only education can resolve the situations the humanity is facing. Dear colleagues, everything has to come to an end, so is our lives. This earth has seen billions of people but only few of them are known to the mankind and they are remembered only due to their contributions to the humanity. Therefore, we must strive our best in leaving a legacy behind for the generation to come especially for those who are less fortunate.

I believe that when we take time to slow down and listen to our bodies we can begin to hear what’s truly needed to feel grounded, balanced and whole.  This is why I’ve dedicated the past 20 years to studying and practicing Breathwork, Life Purpose Coaching, EFT (Tapping),  Kinesiology, Integrated nutrition and movement, asking the body to guide me and my clients back to wellness.  My purpose is to support people to heal, transform the pain of the past, to feel deeply by listening and connecting to their bodies and their inner wisdom so that they can create a future full of joy, purpose and love whilst embracing the full spectrum of the human experience. And I understand my clients concerns & frustrations because I’ve been out of balance too. Over the years I’ve navigated PTSD, postnatal depression, candida, digestive issues, total disconnect from my body and felt that life was not flowing smoothly. Armed with the knowledge and wisdom of my professional practise I’ve been able to create protocols and commit to daily rituals, bringing myself back into alignment.  My work is to support people to reconnect to themselves, heal, transform the past and to create a future full of joy, purpose and love whilst embracing the full spectrum of the human experience.  Embodiment encourages you to reconnect with your wholeness guiding you to make better decisions about your health, wellbeing and all aspects of your life. Over the years I have deepened my relationship with nature and the earth which has inspired me to follow the Priestess path and to be initiated as a Fire Tender, this means that I create fire ceremonies, for myself, for events and communities such as Sisters of the Wild [http://www.sistersofthewild.com/]. Although at first it could seem that the two are not connected I’ve come to understand that we are nature and if we take care of our own bodies we are taking care of the earth.  The great loves of my life are my son, dancing, breathwork, trauma healing & nature.

Black Mountain Bronze

black mountain bronze

Bronze is contemporary and yet has strong echoes deep within our evolutionary past. The casting of bronze is a raw and elemental process that can be achieved around a campfire with beeswax and clay or in sophisticated foundries using high tech furnaces and technical materials. At the heart of the process is the transformative slight of hand, like fossilisation where one object becomes another under the influence of extreme heat. Organic materials or wax are replaced by bronze in the casting process, via a combination of intention, earth and fire. Finishing and colouring bronze is equally transformative, raw metal through the crude exposure to the weather, seawater or sophisticated of chemical sequences and heat comes to life with rich, lustrous and intense colours. NEW WORKS I love the physicality of sculpture both of the process and the materials. Before setting up my bronze foundry in 2015 I trained and practiced as a ceramic artist. Working wax, is a visceral process; how I feel in the act of creation and my responses to the emerging piece dictate the outcome. I suspend conscious engagement and hold the sense of where something is going for as long as possible without interpretation. I believe that a work of art can offer a mirror to the soul for both the maker and the observer. How we respond to a work tells us something about ourselves. For this reason I am encouraged to explore new areas of work and challenge the viewer to consider their response to all types of work, paying attention to what they like as much as well as what they find uncomfortable.
