I was a primary classroom teacher for over 30 years working with all year groups
from Nursery to Y8. I worked as a primary school Special Educational Needs and
Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) from 2011 to 2019. As part of my SENDCo role
I was keen to establish a system within our school to support those children who
were finding it difficult to get started with reading and writing. My aim was to
support progress, thus preventing the loss of self-esteem that so many dyslexics
feel. My journey involved completing my MA and continuing through university to
complete my assessor's qualification for dyslexia.
