I started running 'Creative Maker' sessions in 2019 after several years spent working in Italy and raising a family. My passion lies in creating textured, abstract acrylic painting, oil pastel drawing and I enjoy exploring mosaics. My work has featured in several local exhibitions where I have also won awards. With over over 10 years of experience and expertise working with children creatively, the sessions are a free exploration of methods and materials. Children (and adults) are free to make choices, and then change their minds - there is no right or wrong, just safe practise and exciting art discoveries. We look at a new theme each week which leads to brilliant creations! We also have ART PARTY TAKEAWAY boxes and FAMILY CRAFT packs to inspire your making. Living Well Consortium is the West Midlands’ leading mental health consortium, which consists of over 30 Third Sector mental health organisations. These consortium members each use their experience and networks to work in a cross-collaborative way, to ensure that those who are looking for ways to access mental health and wellbeing support can do so in an efficient way. These Third Sector members work to relieve the pressure felt by the medical services, by delivering community-based and community-oriented services that focus on prevention, wellness, recovery, and resilience, in turn building a more sustainable and long-lasting solution. These Consortium Members are the service providers for Living Well Consortium. To deliver this approach using the members’ collective knowledge, resource, and capacity, Living Well UK is the public-facing charity that brings the work of the consortium members to the people of the West Midlands. This charity arm provides free mental health support to people living in Birmingham and Solihull, promoting wellbeing from an individual and community perspective to help find practical solutions to life’s challenges. These include online stress and anxiety courses, counselling and self-help, creative therapies, and CBT, drawing on the knowledge of a consortium of expert members across the city.

I have had an interest in Art for most of my adult life and having never studied it at school I was nervous of taking up any classes so late in life. However, by chance whilst trying to find local art classes I happened to stumble upon Back Room Art and I sent an enquiring email. From the very first communication Heather put me immediately at ease and gave me the confidence to go to my first class. I joined a wonderful group of people. Heather works well to ensure we are all included in the lessons, working at our own pace and with projects and materials we feel comfortable to use. Heather’s inspiration, openness and motivation have given me a confidence in doing something I never felt capable of doing. Our works are encouraged and praised and Heather’s communication with everyone is brilliant to ensure we all get something out of it. She listens carefully to our aspirations and helps us to achieve them with advice, suggestions and with realistic goals. The facilities we work in are relaxed, friendly and well stocked with all the artistic materials you could wish for, giving me a chance to use resources I would not generally have tried out at home on my own. Coming to this class has given me so much more than just the opportunity to create art; it has opened my eyes to art I would not normally have looked for, expanding my horizons and opportunities. It is the one thing on a Monday that I do look forward to." Her work is vibrant and it is clear she demonstrates her passion for all types of art in her teaching. The club was established in 1938 by pupils of Paget Road School in Erdington, Birmingham and was accepted into the Intermediate Division of the Birmingham Juvenile Organisation Committee. In their first two seasons Paget enjoyed instant success, winning the league title on both occasions; however the outbreak of the 2nd World War brought a halt to progress. Following the outbreak of peace, Paget joined the Birmingham Youth and Old Boys AFA, before moving to the Central Amateur League in 1949 and then the Worcestershire Combination (now Midland Combination) in 1950. In 1951 Paget Rangers purchased a site on Springfield Road in Walmley for a cost of £550. Springfield Road was to be Paget’s home for the next 42 years. The 1950s was a decade of consolidation for The Bears, before experiencing their first major success in 1960 when a unique quadruple was achieved. Paget won the Midland Combination League Title, The Midland Combination League Cup, The Birmingham Junior Cup and the Sutton Coldfield Charity Cup. Paget went on to retain the league title again in 1961. Further success followed in 1967 when Paget Rangers defeated Alvechurch to win the Midland Combination League cup (Alvechurch had beaten Paget in the previous year’s final). In 1970 Paget won the Midland Combination Premier Division for the third time, following that success with a second-place finish in 1971. In 1971 the club erected floodlights at Springfield Road, becoming the first Midland Combination club to have floodlights in the process. The switching on of the lights was marked by a visit of Aston Villa to Springfield Road, drawing a crowd in excess of 2000.
