The central arch leads into what was formerly the Market Hall. In 1926 it was converted into a Council Chamber for Hartlepool and a dance hall with a capacity for 2,000 people. Over the next almost 100 years it has little in terms of its design but greatly in terms of its function currently being an entertainment venue with meeting rooms, offices, a library and a wedding venue. The main auditorium has a capacity of 1,200 and has lift access from the entrance. The building has a separate bar, Constables Bar, accessible from the main street that can be accessible to the main auditorium at events; there is also a temporary bar on the ground floor and a well maintained kitchen. The cellar lies in the basement of Constables Bar and is not accessible directly from the main auditorium. There are male, female and accessible toilets on the ground floor, in the auditorium and in the main bar. The balcony is accessible from the East and West areas of the main auditorium. On the first floor of the South-East wing of the Borough Hall boasts a Mayor’s Parlour and Mayors Chamber that has a 100 capacity. Moving towards the South-West of the first floor the building accumulates a core of smaller rooms that are not in use or for small meetings/storage areas. There is also a large room, Sandwellgate Room, which is a meeting room and Middlegate Room, which provides registrars wedding services.

Achieving Success Every student will need guidance and encouragement and at Seven Kings we aim to meet individual needs by providing the right level of challenge and support to ensure students reach their full potential. We support students with this by focusing on providing quality teaching, responding to their needs to ensure the right level of stretch and challenge. There are a range of intervention and support programmes for those students who need extra help, such as those with learning difficulties. We are very proud of the inclusive nature of our school and aim to personalise learning and teaching so that every student is able to succeed. There is a structured home learning timetable and all students are given a planner to help them organise their time and workload. Parents/carers are asked to check this on a weekly basis. There are home learning support clubs at lunchtimes and after school to help students if they need it. The school also has Learning Mentors to support students and mentoring schemes with both staff and student mentors available to support students. Beyond the Classroom There are many opportunities for students to take part in extra curricular activities at Seven Kings. A large number of clubs and activities take place outside lesson times. Staff are committed to providing different opportunities to enrich the lives of Seven Kings' students. Subject based clubs, such as those in Art, Drama, Music, Science, Sport and Technology enhance the curriculum and many trips and visits support classroom learning. We offer a number of residential trips, to places like Paris, Spain, China, outdoor pursuits and a skiing trip to Austria. Students are encouraged to enter competitions and to contribute to the community in different ways. Our peer committees and student leadership programmes help develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for students' views to be heard. There are termly Music concerts and many Drama productions each year which help students develop their performance skills and their self-confidence. The P.E. department run many school teams and have enjoyed considerable success in local competitions.

Lighthouse School came about through five families with children on the autistic spectrum who had identified a great demand for a school that specifically met the needs of students on the autistic spectrum. Our vision was to create a school where students can thrive, where their needs are fully understood and met, where learning is individualised and aligned to their destination, and where the environment supports their specific learning styles. Havering Changing is a project which supports local people, living and working, in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham and Romford to choose, create and take part in their own their programme of inspiring arts and culture. In August 2019, Havering Changing was thrilled to join Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme. Havering Changing will trial radical new ideas that engage local people in arts and culture in a variety of new ways.

Ingrid Lacey founded Face to Face in 1987 and brings over twenty years of experience in coaching communication skills. She was one of the first actresses to bring actor based training to the corporate world. Over the years she has worked with individuals and groups throughout the private and public sector at all levels. Together with Sally Edwards she is co-creator of the method Face to Face use in their workshops. Ingrid graduated from The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has worked as an actress in TV, film and theatre. She is best known from the award winning TV comedy Drop The Dead Donkey. She has worked for The Royal Court Theatre and the West End. Ingrid is a regular voice over artist. Sally Edwards Sally Edwards has been coaching in communication skills with Face to Face for over five years where she has put her considerable experience as a performer to excellent use in designing and delivering dynamic and creative workshops. Previously, she worked as a training consultant with other actor based companies and as an independent voice coach. Sally graduated from The Central School of Speech & Drama as a qualified Teacher and Voice Specialist. She has worked for many years as an actress in theatre, television and film. She has worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Royal National Theatre amongst many others. She was a regular in London Bridge on ITV.
