The NTIPDU have progressed in the years since it was formed and is now a leader in the development of canine related courses. National Training Inspectorate for Professional Dog Users The National Training Inspectorate for Professional Dog Users was incorporated as a company on the 23rd October 2002. It was formed as a result of the work carried out by the founding directors, who discovered at the time there were no National standards in place for dog handlers within the Security Industry. The NTIPDU has been fortunate to have had input from Government departments in developing the course and standards contained within. We have implemented a set of standards attainable by all, by keeping costs to a minimum enabling the handler to continue with training and retain employment concurrently. Once trained, the NTIPDU handler always has the support necessary from the Inspectorate itself, the Trainers and Instructors. The NTIPDU has within its resources the ability to provide a ‘pool’ of trained dogs, to its members should their own dog be unable to continue for any reason, thus enabling the handler to continue with his/her employment.

We are located just a couple of miles east of Elgin in beautiful rural surroundings. Sarah's Pet Services is owned and run by myself, Sarah Young with the indispensible help of my wonderful team, Lisa, Ilona, Lianne, Sam & Elaine. Since opening in 2017 we have proved to be a very popular pet services business. Covering Fochabers to Elgin to Lossiemouth we offer dog walking in groups or solo walks, pet pop in visits for puppies/older dogs, cat/small animal visits to care for your pets while you are away and horse care visits. Fully insured, we offer a free meet and greet visit prior to carrying out any care for your furbabies. In 2019 I decided to pursue my dream of having dog kennels, where I could offer exisiting and new customers a safe and comfortable place for their dogs to stay while they are away. I wanted to create a peaceful surrounding with emphasis on regular attention and proper exercise for my doggie guests. We have a block of 5 spacious kennels each with their own runs. Each dog is let out of their kennel 4 times a day and we are lucky to have a lovely onsite walk where we take the dogs twice a day for their walks. In addition, we now have an onsite 2 acre secure field for dogs who aren't allowed off lead to run and play in. I recognise every dogs needs are different, therefore I offer two packages depending on amount of exercise you wish your dog to get. We are an extended family-run business consisting of Myself, Andy, my fiance Lucy, our 2 wonderful children, Harry 8, Libby 5, and our 3 dogs, who are a great help with the socialising of the puppies, here at the Sheffield branch. Our Chorley branch is run by Lucy's sister, Laura, her husband, Tom and their 2 children who are 10 and 7 along with their own dog. How did Puppy Steps come about? I've been involved with animals all my life and have worked with dogs of all types in breeding, owning, and training many different breeds. From high drive German Shepherds for security and family protection through to laid back, large, golden retrievers and tiny terriers for family pets. Over the past 20 years, I have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience across a wide range of breeds which has allowed us to achieve the levels of training we do in such a short space of time. Back in 2017, we bred a litter of Sproddles from our Springer spaniel and local health-tested poodle stud. We had a fantastic litter with some going to friends and family. We decided to keep a couple of the puppies back to give them a foundation of basic training before making them available to the public. From this litter, the feedback and recommendations we received we were asked to find and train other puppies. Through word of mouth over the last 5 years we now have 2 branches which each train 2 or 3 puppies per month. With puppies going not only all over the UK and Europe but as far as the Caribbean. What do we do? We offer a range of services from one-to-one puppy training sessions, right through to finding and training a puppy ready for its new family. All of our puppies live in the family home with our dogs and children as part of the family, learning valuable socialisation skills at this key stage of their development. With our exclusive in-house training, we only have a few puppies at each branch to ensure we can give maximum time and attention to each puppy and achieve the standards we strive for. We currently have branches located in Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, and Chorley, in Lancashire. We crate train and house train the puppies during their stay with us. We also teach manners and basic obedience of sit, wait, recall, and lead walking. We ensure puppies are fully up to date with worming and vaccinations before leaving for their new home. The end result is a well-balanced and happy dog that you can enjoy from the very beginning.

When I was six my Mum sadly lost her eyesight and over the years, I grew up along side her three guide dogs, all of which I adored implicitly but I had fallen in love with dogs even earlier, when our family pet dog ‘Brock’ had three puppies. I still remember clearly how warm and exited I felt as my Dad carefully handed me each one in turn to hold – so precious, so adorable and so much fun.
