Delta One Canines was established in 1999 when I retired from the Police Force. Twenty one of those thirty years was spent as a dog handler and dog training instructor. The aims of the business are the same now as they were then, to provide dog training and behaviourial advice to pet owners that is effective, acceptable and affordable. The business has grown over the last twenty five years and now includes two associate instructors. Potential clients of the business can be assured by our membership of bona fide professional organisations. I have been a full member of British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers since the mid 1980s and an Honorary Life Member of Canine Behaviour & Training Society (Formerly U.K. Registry of Canine Behaviourists) since 2010. My associate trainers are also members of B.I.P.D.T.. On-going staff training has included courses in Canine First Aid and dog law. We deliver Responsible Dog Ownership Courses which were developed by ourselves at the request of and in association with West Midlands Police. We pride ourselves on delivering a personal service to all clients. All our training lessons are delivered on a “One to one” basis so that owner and dog can progress at their own pace without distractions. Behaviourial consultations are delivered at the owners home. The consultations deal with matters such as aggression, separation anxiety, dominance and other subjects that are beyond the scope of a regular training lesson. Owners are given a behaviour modification program to address the cause of the dogs unwanted behaviour.

Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu (jiujitsu) currently has in excess of 2,000 students, both Infants (4 – 7 years) Juniors (8 – 12 years) Teenagers (13 – 15 years) and Adults (16 – 80 years) training regularly in separate classes throughout its clubs in England. Kevin is also an established author and was invited to write two books, now in several languages, on the subject of Ju Jitsu (jiujitsu) by the publishing giants, Barnes & Nobel, Alan Clark Books, Connections and Edison Sadd, along with a 32 page section for the internationally-acclaimed “The Ultimate Book of Martial Arts”, which has gone on to being one of the best-selling martial books of all time, and printed in several languages. Since the early 90’s, Kevin has received invitations to teach his no-nonsense style of Jiu Jitsu from around the globe, attracting international attention from many of the world’s leading close protection agencies and military Special Forces. Kevin has served with the Royal Marine Reserve (City of London), the Royal Military Police (253 Pro Coy) and as a dog handler in The Parks Police completing his service at the rank of Sergeant. Kevin also worked for six years as a professional close protection officer, having been personally invited to join an elite team drawn from Britain’s Special Forces, being primarily responsible for the personal security of the Dubai Royal family. In November 1997, Kevin moved to Norfolk and established the Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu (jiujitsu) headquarters in the picturesque village of Caston, where he personally teaches twice a week in the evening aside of his professional duties as the founder and chief instructor. In 2001 Kevin was inducted in to Combat Magazine’s Black Belt Hall of Fame held at the Aston Villa Conference Centre in Birmingham , and in 2003 was invited back to receive a “Guardian of the Martial Arts” award. In 2011 Kevin was once again invited back to the Combat Hall of Fame awards held at the Aston Villa Conference Centre in Birmingham where he was officially honoured and recognised for his service to the world of Martial Arts with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”… In November 2013 Kevin was invited to the “Martial Arts Illustrated” Hall of Fame awards where he was presented with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”…

Mark Handford manages the day to day running of the business, and the company employs a core team of highly experienced and qualified instructors to help deliver courses and adventure activities. Mark holds the following qualifications: Winter Mountain Leader Summer Mountain Leader Rock climbing Instructor RYA Powerboat 2 Coastal endorsement Rescue 3 Europe Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) Rescue 3 Europe Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Boat Operator (SFRBO) Qualified competent person for inspection of PPE by Helix Tactical BCU Performance Award Sea Kayak (3 Star) & White Water Kayak (3 Star) LCML training Rescue Emergency Care Level 2 1st Aid (REC) Mark is also a National Navigation Award Scheme Gold Level Course Provider and Tutor Course Provider and is the NNAS course moderator for North Wales and Anglesey. He also has membership of the following organisations British Mountaineering Council Mountain Training Association Snowsport Scotland Canoe Wales, The National Governing Body for paddlesports in Wales Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski National Coasteering Charter Mountain Rescue UK Mark has a long history with mountain rescue. In the UK he was a team member of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation as a trainee in October 2005 and then as a full team member from 2006-2011. Mountain Rescue in Nepal Whilst in Nepal in 2003/4, Mark was a volunteer member of the Nepalese Himalayan Rescue Association and volunteer outreach worker for Medicins Sans Frontiers in Manang, Nepal. Lowland Rescue Association Mark was a founding member and training officer for the first Lowland Rescue Team in Wales, Mon-SAR from 2015 – 2017 and has the following qualifications Lowland Rescue Search Technician Search Party Leader Instructor Search Manager and Planner Lowland Rescue Search Technician Assessor TAQA – Training, Assessment & Quality Assurance, Level 3 IQA – Internal Quality Assurance, Level 4 SARMAN software qualified for search management Specialist Search Dogs Mark is a qualified, assessed by David Jones and Gavin Roberts, cadaver search dog handler with his spaniel ‘Missy’. He has delivered presentations at seminars for land and water search with search dogs, as well as conducted ongoing searches in the UK for missing persons. Mark has also attended IKAR conferences for continued professional development. Whilst working as a consultant for International Rescue Training Centre Wales, he also help develop the Dangerous Dogs Handling course and delivered it to numerous candidates in the UK and also to environment agency and council officers in Northern Ireland. Also whilst at IRTCW he also helped organise, deliver and present at two specialist water search seminars, the first at Hawley Lake by Gibraltar Barracks and then at Trent Lock, Nottingham. Rafting in Nepal In 2003 he was part of a team providing the first commercial white water rafting expeditions with Equator Expeditions, undertaking an expedition on the mighty Sunkoshi River as well as the upper and lower sections of Bohte Koshi.
