Children love learning outside and at South Downs Forest School we offer a wide range of bespoke Forest School Programmes and Outdoor Learning events to support children and young people from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds with their learning, development and wellbeing. Overwhelming evidence shows that children are often happier learning outside; rich, exciting and stimulating, woodlands provide opportunities to learn a wide range of skills as well as develop emotional intelligence, resilience and well being. We are passionate about getting children and young people back into contact with nature and support them in discovering this rich and stimulating learning environment. If you have a group of children that would like to come and experience a Forest School programme or Outdoor Learning session, we can offer bespoke programmes or events to suit your needs. Sessions are led by an enthusiastic teacher with experience in many fields of education, Forest School, Outdoor Learning, Special Educational Needs and Well Being. We believe that the Forest School experience, with its strong element of self-directed learning over an extended period, encourages self confidence, self esteem, problem solving and team building. Enriched Outdoor Learning translates to healthier, happier children with improved performance, in terms of both learning, behaviour and mental health.

Basis Yorkshire was set up (as Genesis Leeds) in 1989 by a few volunteers, supporting sexworkers in Leeds. In 1997, a young person’s service was established to accommodate the specific needs of girls and young women who were being sexually exploited. In 2018, Basis Boys was established to accommodate boys and young men that are being exploited, sexually or otherwise. The charity also provides high quality training and awareness raising sessions locally and nationally on social justice issues and practice development. POSITION STATEMENT – WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO Basis supports indoor and street sex workers who identify as women, and young people who are sexually exploited. Our purpose is to empower people to make safer and healthier choices by offering information, support and options. Our work is driven by a sound evidence base, as well as working closely with women and young people to ensure our services are designed and delivered with them, putting their voices and experience at the centre of our work. We challenge stigma and inequality of access to services for everyone we work with. We are proud to be one of a small number of specialist organisations that explicitly recognise and advocate for women’s right to work more safely when selling sex, while also supporting young people who are sexually exploited to be safer and free from harm. We understand that for some women and young people, their ‘choices’ are severely constrained by a range of factors including physical and mental health, substance use, family circumstances and abusive relationships, as we support them in managing the risks and vulnerabilities they face. We recognise people’s dignity and agency in their decision-making.

I am honored to serve as Interim Superintendent for the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS); the finest Career and Technical Education program in Connecticut. For over 100 years, this school system has prepared high school students and adult learners with the skills to be successful in high-demand technical careers, while equipping Connecticut business and industry with a talented workforce to support economic growth. I am proud to be a part of that story. For 30 years I have worked in a variety of education roles. Most recently, I served as Superintendent of Bristol Public Schools where I was directly involved in the development and implementation of the district’s career partnership with business and industry in the city of Bristol, as well as a successful school-to-work career pathways program. Through this experience I observed how opportunities in the skilled-trades can transform the lives of students by setting them up for a living-wage career. I am excited to learn more about the opportunities CTECS offers. I believe that educational leaders are in the business of serving people first. Student growth, achievement and outcomes do not happen without a solid school foundation built on trust, seamless and open dialogue, and the willingness to engage in critical conversations. As such, over the coming months I’ll be spending my days in classrooms with students, meeting with CTECS staff, and getting to know our business and industry partners so that I can continue to support the growth of this school system. IndoGenius has been based in New Delhi since 2009. We assist universities, businesses, NGOs and government agencies from around the world interact with India. Guided by the Rig Veda’s wish that good ideas should come from all over the world, its mission is to help increase the greater sum of knowledge for the benefit of all mankind. IndoGenius’ work is directed by the firm belief that the next chapter of the human story will in part be defined by the economic and intellectual re-emergence of India and that its global partners can learn from, as well as contribute to, this re-emergence. This belief is reflected in the company’s composition, which combines the talent and passion of Indian nationals who have always called India home with expats from the UK, US, Europe and Africa who have chosen to make it so. In pursuit of these goals, IndoGenius has worked with dozens of US, UK, Australian and EU institutions and their Indian counterparts. This has included providing student immersion programs; conducting research and policy reports; developing free mobile education applications; and other strategic initiatives such as academic and research collaborations, preparing campus development plans, supporting graduate career opportunities, and developing alumni relations. Our Immersion Programs • 1500+ participants from the US, UK, Europe, NZ and Australia have completed an IndoGenius program in India, ranging from one to four weeks in duration. • IndoGenius were appointed by the US Department of State, together with the Ohio State University, to run the Passport to India initiative. • 95% of our participants have rated their experience with IndoGenius as 9 or 10 out of 10. The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) was established as the National Association of Theatre Nurses, NATN, in 1964. As a membership organisation and registered charity AfPP works to enhance skills and knowledge within operating departments, associated areas and sterile services departments. AfPP aims to enhance the quality of care and patient safety in the NHS and the independent sector throughout the UK. In April 2005 NATN changed its name, structures and systems in recognition of the significant changes that were happening in the healthcare sector and the wider perioperative environment and to accommodate the growing numbers of Operating Department Practitioners and Healthcare Support Workers who were previously not eligible for full membership. AfPP also works to encourage the exchange of professional information between members and co-operation with other professional bodies. These include the Departments of Health in the UK, the Perioperative Care Collaborative, the Medical Royal Colleges, Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) of all four member countries, Skills for Health and many of the British Safety Institution Committees and other groups set up to discuss specific issues related to perioperative care.
