Jackie’s unexpected journey from teaching assistant to becoming Headteacher of a large secondary school has taught her what is possible for all of us. Throughout her career in primary and secondary schools, she has had a passion for empowering children and colleagues to find their innate resilience through managing their thinking. This is because she has experienced for herself what happens when we develop the habits of fearless thinking. For this work both nationally and internationally, she was awarded an OBE in 2002. Following headship, she started her own training and coaching company working with a wide range of school and business leaders and their teams. Jackie believes coaching is the most powerful way to help leaders thrive at work and at home. Her own experience has shown her that challenging our thinking habits can make us successful, healthy and happy – in mind and body. Jackie’s inspiring self-development book ‘GROW – Change your mindset change your life’ has recently been republished in the USA and she has written many other books for teachers and school leaders including ‘The Complete Learner’s Toolkit’ which offers lessons in mind management for young people. Jackie loves to deliver inspiring keynotes and workshops that share her own journey and the strategies that create lasting change. Her one to one coaching, delivered in person or online, is truly transformational and includes online support and follow up resources that embed thinking habits that make us stronger and wiser.

The Diocese of Gloucester Academies Trust (DGAT) is a multi-academy trust established by the Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) in 2012. Our purpose is to provide children of all faiths and none, with excellent educational provision which transforms lives within a caring and supportive Christian ethos. Our family of schools is fully inclusive and welcoming to all. There are currently 18 primary schools and one infant school within the Trust. Eighteen of the 19 academies have a religious designation as Church of England schools. All of the academies are located in Gloucestershire Local Authority. Supporting the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and physical development of each child, as well as maximising their progress, achievement and attainment to ensure their intellectual growth, is key. In tandem with this is the drive to support and develop the staff within the family of schools. In order to build strong learning communities, the Trust ensures that schools are confident and outward-facing in all that they do, building strong, effective links with parents, parishes, local schools, community groups and the wider educational community. The courses span the full range of liberal arts disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, and physical and biological sciences. The online courses are designed for a wide range of people around the world, among them self-directed and life-long learners, educators, and high school and college students. It also gives the user a wide variety of other options for structuring the learning process, for example downloading, redistributing, and remixing course materials. Each course includes a full set of class lectures produced in high-quality video accompanied by such other course materials as syllabi, suggested readings, and problem sets. The lectures are available as downloadable videos, and an audio-only version is also offered. In addition, searchable transcripts of each lecture are provided. Who Leads Open Yale Courses? Diana E. E. Kleiner, Dunham Professor of History of Art and Classics and former Deputy Provost, is Founding Project Director and Principal Investigator of Open Yale Courses. Professor Kleiner brings to the project a wealth of experience in the development of Internet educational offerings as well as her long-time experience as Yale professor, scholar, and administrator.

My name is Mary Dawes. I am a BACP registered and accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist. I trained at the Wealden Institute, where I gained a Diploma in Counselling and studied Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I am an approved adoption counsellor registered through Barnardo's LINK Adoption Support Service, and I am a trained Cruse bereavement counsellor. I worked for five years with male survivors of sexual abuse at Mankind, a charity in Hove, and as a volunteer counsellor at Open Door, a project for 13-25 year olds in Eastbourne, for six years. As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I work within their Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions. I do not believe that there is a typical person or client, only that there are people who are in distress and are searching for help. I believe that “the relationship” between client and counsellor is at the heart of the work that I do, and it is this relationship that ultimately heals and promotes most growth and well being in a client. My approach is Person Centred and Integrative, as I believe that no one approach fits all. Therefore I draw on a variety of theoretical and creative methods. In accordance with BACP guidlines, I have supervision on my work, and I regularly undertake training as a commitment to my continuing professional development.
