We are a college, a country estate, a dairy farm, a wedding venue, a conference centre, an arable farm, a tourist destination, the birthplace of Thomas Hardy and, most crucially, the only provider of land-based studies for 60 miles in any direction. We have a major strategic role in the development of Dorset’s rural economy, which although firmly rooted in our heritage as an agricultural provider, now spans the full range of land-based studies and beyond, from entry-level to a degree. Following a dynamic period, the College now has a financial health rating of ‘Good’, rewritten the Strategic Plan, and developed an Estate Masterplan for the next ten years, alongside confirming our Ofsted ‘Good’ grade. We have a strong platform to make the improvements required to continually strive towards outstanding status and we are looking forward to the future with ambition and optimism. The nature of the College, however, is much more than just an Ofsted grade. We are at the heart of Dorset, both emotionally and literally. Engagement and strategic positioning are vital to ensure we continue to grow both our reputation and student numbers. Helping the children of travelling salespeopleI feel that it is a great honour to have been elected Chairman of our Foundation, and I trust that we shall continue to be effective in providing educational support for children of travelling sales people during times of adversity. Many years ago, when I was experiencing a tricky time with my career, I was fortunate to receive a series of grants primarily to assist my youngest daughter, Claire, with her education and specialist swimming training. Royal Pinner’s assistance, at a crucial stage of Claire’s education, was invaluable. Claire went on to graduate from Leeds University as well as to participate in the Paralympic Games held in Athens, Beijing, London and Rio – where she won a Gold Medal. Obviously, our Royal Pinner grants were withdrawn when Lottery funding became available, but we shall be forever grateful for the support we received at a critical stage of Claire’s development. Being in receipt of support is one side of the Trust and, since becoming a Trustee several years ago, I have also seen the other side – helping to alleviate the hardships encountered by our beneficiaries and new applicants – and I have felt very humbled. Most of our families face and endure far more difficult circumstances than I did, but, on the other hand, I have also seen how effective our grants and pastoral support can be. Our focus remains on the sons and daughters of commercial travellers where there is also a specific need or hardship, and we aim to continue to provide effective educational support during the years to come.

Excited, because we are passionate about nurturing our children from a young age, nurturing in them a love for their religion and nurturing their spiritual development. The idea for ilmburst began when we found that many of us as parents don’t have the confidence to teach our children their religion. This is due to a variety of reasons. Some of us feel we don’t have the knowledge and ability, others among us don’t have the time to research and prepare the material needed to teach our children and yet others are afraid that they may teach something incorrectly or use inauthentic material. We aim to help change that, in sha Allah. We should all be able to help teach our children in an engaging and fun way. What better way to bond with your children than doing something which is pleasing to Allah? Using the individual skills and talents of our team we have brought together people qualified in Islamic studies, education and teaching experience to create a wide variety of resources across a wide breadth of subjects, which are then designed using professional design software to ensure high quality. Our Mission Building sustainable communities around sport facilities, connecting visionary actors in sport, development, politics and business to community needs and opportunities.Dream Fields was created by former colleagues from international football who wanted to use their experience in sport for the good of communities around the world. In their daily work, Colin, David, Emilia and Stuart had witnessed the power of sport first hand, be it in the incredible stories of women who fought against all odds just to get the chance to play the beautiful game, or in the children kicking a makeshift ball in a slum where the game seemed to wipe off their worries and create the brightest of smiles on their faces. Dream Fields was born out of the hope to spread this joy and grow it into sustainability livelihoods for communities where everyone has the right to play. The Dream Fields concept was born from this search for not merely ‘sport for good’ but ‘sport for sustainable and prosperous communities’. In 2021, co-founder Stuart decided to embark on a journey to better understand the real issues around sport and sustainability. As part of a course with the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, he presented a general concept of how a sports facility could become the focal point of driving a local economy with a heavy focus on environmental sustainability, ultimately hoping to reach the level of interdependence seen in various symbiosis projects globally. After completing the programme, Stuart shared the concept with former colleagues Colin, David and Emilia. As the concept grew wings, Samy joined the team to bring in his operations and engineering expertise. - Dream Fields was born.
