We believe that the UTC can provide a set of opportunities and qualifications that will provide an excellent foundation for students to enter the health and care professions. WHAT IS A UTC? University Technical Colleges (UTCs) are government-funded schools with a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) focus. They provide a unique and relevant approach to education, which addresses the changing needs of students and employers in the 21st century. UTCs were established by companies and universities in areas of high demand for talent. Alongside national curriculum teaching, UTCs also offer sought-after vocational and technical qualifications, and benefit from industry-standard equipment and specialist staff to provide students with skills that are valued by employers. The UTC curriculum has a strong emphasis on ‘real life’ project-based learning, which engages students and develops their personal character. Because of this unique offer, UTCs allow for a broad choice of pathways when a student reaches 18 years old: university, higher or degree apprenticeships, or directly into a career.

We are a bespoke Training Centre for students aged 16-19 with Special Educational Needs. The students will have an emotional, behavioural or complex cognitive need which will be reflected in their Educational Health and Care Plans. Our school will aim to admit up to 25 students each academic year. Each student will stay with us for a minimum of two full academic years. Our centre is a specialist provider with a focus on preparing the students for the world of work. The curriculum reflects this ethos and the students can select from a range of practical courses designed to reflect current job market trends. All of the students are expected to continue with studying English and Maths as well as developing their interpersonal, social and communication skills through Personal Development and Employability qualifications. Our aim is that by the time each student leaves that they are able to function in a work environment or that they are able to further their skills through further education or training courses.

Based in the Midlands, we form a highly regarded team with wide ranging experience and up to date skills providing support to schools across the UK. The team has taught across the early years and primary age range and all have experience in local authority school improvement working with teachers, leaders and other stakeholders. Having worked as regional co-ordinators for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), Bright Pi maintains a close working relationship with the NCETM delivering their ever-evolving national ‘Professional Development Lead’ programme. We are proud to work alongside other partner organisations including the National Maths Hub Network. We play a key role on the strategic board for our local hub and lead on the Mastery Readiness programme for the Origin Maths Hub. This supports those schools starting their journey in Teaching for Mastery, as well as those developing their practice. In addition, Bright Pi has also provided operational external key stage 1 moderation for the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), monitoring practice in various local authorities across the country. Having worked in offices before becoming a Personal Trainer, I believe I can relate to and apply nutritional and exercise interventions when working around busy lifestyles and work life. I work with a range of clients: Men, women, office workers, stay at home moms, business entrepreneurs. Many of whom do not have the time or resources to research every training programme or diet to apply. This is why people contact me. For help to get started with a professional who can apply a wealth of knowledge quickly. With a Bsc in Nutrition, Exercise and Health I look to apply critical thinking and research evidence skills to the advice I provide to my clientele. Researching different forms of training and nutrition is part of my continual development along with attending many conferences, seminars and lecturers from leading specialists. My own exercise and training consists of many forms of Martial Arts as well as strength & conditioning. I work by emphasising form and technique in weight training progressing moving towards a higher intensity. In 2018 I debuted in Amateur Mixed Martial Arts. My own goals are to compete again and gain more experience in the sport.
