I love to see how kids, starting with blank paper and a paint brush, make their own unique way into the magical world of art. Art gives children the freedom to express themselves, to communicate with others in ways beyond words; it encourages their critical thinking and ability to find solutions “outside the box”. And it is simply wonderful to watch them become independent creative thinkers and inventors. Anna Drezova graduated from Staffordshire University with first class BA (Hons) in Surface Pattern Design in 2009 and since then had a successful career as freelance artist and designer.

Welcome to Emma Leonard Handcrafted Jewellery. I am a designer / maker based near the seaside in Poole, Dorset. I make jewellery inspired by mid-century fabric prints and patterns and the shapes you find in cityscape architecture. I like to imagine my work as tiny sculptures, adding pops of colour with hand-painted lacquers. I love seeing the angles where a stack of bangles cross and layer, or the contrast between polished silver and a flash of colour. Mainly I like making jewellery that makes people happy when they wear it. I am a freelance designer-maker, applied artist, crafts-woman, whatever you want to call me – I stitch stuff by hand; fabric, metal, porcelain, leather, vitreous enamel.. . My work is various, it depends whether I am working for myself, to commission or collaborating with other artists. But whatever I do is slow to make; detailed hand stitching in any material whether in silk, linen, wool or wire takes time, consequently my work is also slow to evolve. I decided to show on this site what I do, who I am work with, how I work and also how I think. I want to show the work behind HER WORK not just the finished things. The journey from the first idea, searching, researching, drawing, sampling and eventually making the finished piece. You will be able to watch my work progress, or not; maybe by seeing this record people will come to value making that is manufactured by hand, heart and eye. In May 2010 I developed – Heart Space Studios ( from my yoga practice “Put your Hands in your Heart Space”) and for 5 years it was a space in Bristol England for all things textile. The activities at the studios can still be viewed – I closed the studio workshops in 2015 – the classes remain on this site as part of the blog, they contain many of my most popular posts….. Heart Space Studios continues as a group of makers who develop projects primarily for publishing companies. Most notably we work with designer Kaffe Fassett in the production of his patchwork quilt books and other fabrics.

Lorna Brown is a contemporary textile designer and fine art screen printer living and working in Edinburgh. B.U. designs often have a beautifully complex, layered patina creating colorful, expressive designs that are transformed through screen printing and digital processes into home wear, accessories and artworks. Lorna’s considered, process driven craftsmanship expresses her mindful, immersive placement printing style. Blessed Unrest prints are an antidote to mass production and aimed at people looking for something unique and exclusive. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Lorna was awarded a 1st class Hons Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Printed Textile Design. She also hold a City and Guilds Adult and Further Education teaching qualification. Lorna values the sharing of knowledge and skills with others and has delivered and facilitated art and design projects for many years in community, FE and HE. Working with others to expand her practice, find design solutions and research new processes are important factors in Blessed Unrest's creation process. Lorna has been involved in many exciting projects and continues to pursue new connections, support collaborations and undertake commissions. Opening in 2023 INK on MESH- Community Access Print Studio is to become a new exciting teaching space and home to the Blessed Unrest brand.

I'm Ashley Altes, a digital artist and designer based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Art has always been at the centre of my universe - a musician in my youth, then a professional photographer in my younger years, and later becoming a specialist Arts teacher. In 2019 I began Ashley Altes Arts, after re-igniting my passion for illustrating in the classroom; I fell into textile design by chance when becoming a cloth nappy mum, designing my first seamless pattern for a Perth-based MCN brand. Since then, I have created a range of fabrics and started my own line of prints early in 2021, and have collaborated with a range of Australian businesses to create unique products, using my vibrant art style to capture the playfulness and beauty of the every-day world.
