I am a lettering artist and graphic designer who creates brand identities, e-commerce websites, hand lettered logos, as well as large scale lettering work such as chalkboard menus, signs and shop windows. I worked for 8 years as an in-house graphic designer for international fashion and beauty brand Mary Quant, where I played an active part in the company’s transition from physical stores to digital, and had the chance to work on a wide variety of projects from conception to finish, as the only designer in the team. I now help small businesses in the UK stand out and connect with their audience through recognisable brand visuals and hand drawn typography. Most of my clients are coffee and food businesses, artists and makers who are passionate about their craft and want their unique brand personality to shine. I love sharing my creative skills: I teach hand lettering workshops in various locations in London, and work with CIC’s to deliver lettering, typography and graphic design workshops for young people. I am a maker myself and run a product business called The Alternative Type, where I create and sell hand lettered goods inspired by my love of alternative music and goth aesthetic.

the super sparrow

I’m Lilly, the designer maker behind The Super Sparrow ceramics. I played around with clay a bit on and off as a child and again during a couple evening sculpture courses while working as a cardiac nurse. Eventually, I got the courage to follow my heart and apply to art school, a bit later than most, and eventually finished up with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins. I’m not being dramatic when I say it changed my life. It reminded me of how important it is to do something you love and to have fun doing it. I run my small business while still working part time as a nurse but am hoping to be able to do this more full time in the years to come.

Samantha Warren is a London based designer specialising in soft accessories and homewares. With her experimental approach to textile design, confident use of colour and eye for functionality, Samantha creates eco-friendly, stylish and high quality products. After completing a degree in Printed Textiles and Applied Print, Samantha continued to develop her own style, exploring the use of colour and pattern on different materials to create practical products. Samantha's pattern designs are inspired by her Filipino heritage and her love of nature and each piece is carefully constructed using natural materials and making use of fashion industry offcuts. Samantha’s work has been stocked in prestigious museums including The British Museum, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Fashion and Textile Museum, Towner Gallery and Dulwich Picture Gallery.

Nadia Piechestein is a London based sustainable Fashion Designer reimagining traditional mending to create contemporary fine fashion that challenges longevity and creativity. Her brand, TLZmovement, was one of the first ethical brands in Argentina, were she is from. Her sustainable approach combines textiles, slow fashion techniques and even a zero stock and waste production. The last collection brings together the most exquisite embroidery combined with natural fibers weaving in collaboration with local makers next to the studio in Isle of Dogs. You can bring them a garment and they will rework it with any of the techniques they use. If you want to learn how to do it they also give workshops where you can weave a piece and then sew it in the garment. Isn’t it fantastic?! You can participate every year during London Craft Week, Festivals or in their amazing studio space in Craft Central.

We are a group of artists for people and value our independent status. Our international team of writers, translators, editors and artists, are led by Snowflake’s creative Director, founder and book designer, Su Yen Hu. At Snowflake Books we make beautiful picture-story books for children, based on well-loved Eastern legends. The characters in these delightful stories have a mixture of good and bad in their lives, but their good qualities always shine through in the end. Children will find both sympathy and inspiration from well-loved characters like little Mouse, Silly Billy the Wise Goat, Golden Pig, Big Red Rooster, and many more here. Snowflake Books cooperates in inter-cultural events for children in leading museums, local schools and libraries through our charitable branch, Dragon Discoveries CIC. We are currently working on new titles about the English countryside, and a new series for children of Lolo the Wise Dog.

Craft Central is home to a thriving community of professional makers. From Studio spaces to business development support, we help makers succeed. Fundamental to our work is our belief that given the right circumstances anyone can thrive. That's why we seek opportunities for our members, and for the makers of the future - supporting them, showcasing them and connecting them. We provide many resources for creative enterprises and individuals including: studio spaces; co-working spaces and desks; educational workshops and classes, plus a busy programme of events held in our Gallery Space. Our creative community can exhibit and sell fine craft products at our events, whilst our ever-growing network of designer-makers enables craftspeople to link with colleagues in the wider craft and creative community.

Second Floor Studios & Arts (SFSA) was established in 1997. It is a leading arts organisation providing affordable studio space for visual and fine artists' and craft and designer makers. Our core aim is providing best quality studios at monthly rental prices our studio members can afford and whom would otherwise struggle to find comparable studio workspace on the open commercial market. About Vicky Forrester Vicky Forrester is a designer – maker of contemporary bespoke jewellery. Inspired by organic structures, Vicky combines the inherent qualities of her materials with innovative techniques, to produce wearable, precious forms that delight the senses. She makes her jewellery here at Flux Studios, London. Vicky set up Flux Jewellery School to share the skills and knowledge she has gained though her own 30-year career as a jeweller and teacher. In 2010 Vicky was commissioned to write ‘Elemental Jewellery’, an inspirational look at jewellery making. The book includes twenty projects that aim to introduce new approaches to making jewellery, while also exploring ways to develop a free spirited design methodology.
