WEST is a small charity with a big aim: to inspire girls and women to study and work in non-traditional trades and careers like engineering.Wendy Miller “I was the first full-time female student to study engineering at Sheffield College. After employment as a draughtsperson and engineering project manager, I have worked in education since 2004. I am now Learning and Teaching Lead at the AMRC Training Centre, run by the University of Sheffield, which delivers Engineering Apprenticeships from Advanced to Degree Level. I joined WEST because I believe passionately that we need to actively change women’s perception of STEM careers – and men’s perception of women in engineering! At ilmburst, we are very excited about launching this project. Excited, because we are passionate about nurturing our children from a young age, nurturing in them a love for their religion and nurturing their spiritual development. The idea for ilmburst began when we found that many of us as parents don’t have the confidence to teach our children their religion. This is due to a variety of reasons. Some of us feel we don’t have the knowledge and ability, others among us don’t have the time to research and prepare the material needed to teach our children and yet others are afraid that they may teach something incorrectly or use inauthentic material. We aim to help change that, in sha Allah. We should all be able to help teach our children in an engaging and fun way. What better way to bond with your children than doing something which is pleasing to Allah? Using the individual skills and talents of our team we have brought together people qualified in Islamic studies, education and teaching experience to create a wide variety of resources across a wide breadth of subjects, which are then designed using professional design software to ensure high quality. Our vision is to help nurture a generation of Muslims who are proud and confident of their Islam, and who then use this confidence to excel academically, into their chosen career paths and be role models within their communities. We ask Allah, the Most High, to grant us all success as parents and teachers, and that He blesses our children and makes them a source of happiness and joy for us in this world and the next.

Oscott Academy is a registered independent school that supports the learning of students in Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11). Oscott Academy prides itself on its pastoral approach, fostering an environment where students can develop and be part of the Oscott Academy family. We support students with diagnoses of ASD, ADHD, ADD and anxiety, in addition to those who display symptoms of SEMH. We also support vulnerable students who have struggled to learn in a mainstream setting. The school has a high level of student support with a ration of 5:1 (student to staff ratio). Oscott Academy was opened in 2014 by Stewart Dance, an experienced practitioner with over a decades experience in educational settings. The business first operated from premises in the small village of Knowle in Solihull but moved into larger premises in July 2012 to accommodate the larger tile projects that they were being requested to supply. The new premises within Century Park, Birmingham, offered better access for hauliers due to its locality to Birmingham Airport and the major motorway network as well as offering a much larger warehousing capacity. A real success story, more recently the business has expanded its operation even further by opening a state of the art eco-friendly architectural showroom based in Meriden between Birmingham and Coventry. The showroom offers and extensive range of unique and innovative collections on display, with access to thousands of samples. The showroom offers modern meeting spaces and a state of the art office space all under one roof. We can provide onsite CPD training and various types of technical testing. The directors are supported in their day to day business operations by an experienced and talented back office team who cover administration, warehousing, finance and sales. They are currently looking to further expand this team in order to manage the additional demand and retain their reputation for excellent customer service, something with which they have become known for. The company is particularly proud of the clients that they have accumulated over the years who include many household names both in the UK and abroad. Over the past four years the company has also exhibited at shows such as 100% Design and Surface while featuring in FX Magazine and IDFX Magazine as well as being members of the TTA. The Directors have visited Cersaie in Italy each year since the company’s inception to meet with suppliers and further cement their relationships guaranteeing their clients access to the latest and most technologically advanced tile ranges. With turnover increasing year on year the company has ambitious plans for progressive growth as well as continuing to innovate within the tile sector by further streamlining the tile specification process. Upon her retirement in 2010, Carol Erdman, who had worked with inSITE for 15 years became President and CEO. Since the turn of the century, inSITE has continued to grow and serve the business community as well as contribute to the community as a whole. Improving the quality and availability of education remains our primary focus for corporations, government agencies, and the non profit community. With a strong administrative team, instructional design staff and seasoned facilitators, inSITE has the unique ability to provide a wide variety of services. We hire graduate level interns to demonstrate our commitment to development of the next generation of instructional designers and instructors. Our forte has been to place teams on-site to assess, develop, deliver, and evaluate classroom-based training and web-based solutions. inSITE has expertise in conducting comprehensive needs and task analysis that truly determine skill-based needs. We focus on performance, not training, so our recommendations, once implemented, create an environment where employees not only have task-related skills to conduct their jobs, but are able to perform at levels needed for employees to reach their benchmarks, departments to achieve their goals, and the organization to attain its strategic plan while being flexible and ready to take on new challenges. In order to ensure significant learning occurs in two to six hour courses, we limit lectures to 15 minutes or less and call them lecturettes. The use of the World Café is a highly successful learning format that draws in high level professionals and managers.
