Dr Anita Shaw Dr Anita Shaw has over 23 years experience of supporting teachers
in interactive science teaching, starting at the Science Museum in London, and
more recently at Techniquest Science Discovery Centre in Cardiff where she was
responsible for the centre’s education strategy. She started her career as a
research scientist, initially in neurosciences and latterly in medical genetics.
Anita is passionate about engaging young people, particularly girls, in STEM.
She currently sits on the Welsh Government’s Women in STEM Board and chairs it
Education subgroup. She runs the Welsh Valleys Engineering Project for the Royal
Academy of Engineering, is a coach for the Institute of Physics Improving Gender
Balance project and a trustee at Chwarae Teg. She is excited about the career
opportunities in STEM for young people and believes that, alongside parents,
primary school teachers have a central role in nurturing children’s natural
curiosity.
