Hello and welcome!  Following many years in the NHS as a senior nurse and educator I founded my company in 2012.  I support individuals, teams and organisations to communicate at their best with a particular interest in conflict, complaints and bringing compassion to life. Working with Scotland’s Ombudsman gave me a unique perspective about the emotional elements often associated with concerns and conflict. And from there I have developed a whole suite of resources to support us communicating at our best, managing conflict and caring for ourselves in the rich rollercoaster of life. I am an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh where I was awarded a Doctor of Science in 2020 for services to nursing.  I am still involved in some part time teaching.  I am also the Chair of North Edinburgh Dementia Care I remain a registered nurse and teacher. And continue to learn using a number of approaches including Appreciative Inquiry, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Mindful Self Compassion. I look forward to welcoming you on one of my courses. Welcome to the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN). Our aim is to carry out high quality research into the function of the nervous system in health and disease. We have a multidisciplinary workforce of close to 500 people, mostly based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, but also spread across the University. We are an integrated part of the broader neuroscience community across Oxford, with many links to other departments. Many of our scientists are also practising clinicians and provide general and specialist care through the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation NHS Trust. Through our DPhil programme, and our very strong group of early career researchers we play an important role in developing the careers of young scientists. NDCN builds on a long history of research in neurology, brain imaging, eye disorders, and anaesthetics in Oxford which has made major contributions to our understanding of how the brain works and to the development of treatments which have changed lives. Major discoveries made by NDCN scientists include the discovery of a type of cell in the eye which helps regulate our body clock, new techniques to image the human brain, devices to make anaesthesia safer, methods to prevent vascular diseases of the brain including stroke and forms of dementia, understanding and treating chronic pain, pioneering treatments such as gene therapy for inherited eye disorders, and the diagnosis and treatment of immunological disorders of the nervous system. The institution's original buildings were the first in the country to be purpose-built for the professional training of teachers. The first cohort of 10 male student teachers had been taught in temporary premises in Nicholas Street from February 1840, until increasing student numbers led to a move to further temporary accommodation in Bridge Street later that year. The need for a permanent site led the Dean and Chapter of Chester Cathedral to donate land adjacent to Parkgate Road and the new facilities were opened in 1842 for the 50 student teachers and their school pupils. The Parkgate Road Campus has subsequently been developed to accommodate the needs of students and the University still provides higher education in this location and at other sites in the city and beyond. Education qualifications remain significant and are now a fraction of the 420 course combinations on offer. In the 20th Century, the institution steadily expanded its student numbers and the variety and nature of its courses, which range from Animation to Zoo Management. The University of Chester now has over 1,700 staff and some 20,000 students, drawn from the United Kingdom, Europe and further afield, particularly from the United States, India, China, Nigeria, Turkey, Uganda, Pakistan, Ghana, Bangladesh, Qatar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. As well as undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, a new range of foundation degrees and apprenticeship degrees combines conventional university study with learning at work. MPhil and PhD qualifications are an established and growing area of activity, with the University gaining the powers to award its own research degrees in 2007. The emphasis is very much on research that has practical benefits both economically and culturally, and the University provides consultancy support across a variety of areas of expertise. Recent projects have included helping to develop England’s first ‘carbon neutral’ village, discovering a vitamin compound which reduces the risk of heart disease and dementia, translating the Bible into British Sign Language, and research into understanding the psychological impact of cancer to improve wellbeing and quality of life for patients and their families. Development of well-respected courses in Health and Social Care, Humanities, Business and Management, Arts and Media, Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry and Clinical Sciences, and Education and Children’s Services has further extended the University’s work and connections with industry, commerce and the professions.

As soon as I could walk I loved to dance. As a professional actress for many years I sang and danced in numerous productions. In 2007, during a period of illness plus injury from two car accidents, I wanted to do more aerobic activity to keep my spirits up. I pretty much loathed the intimidating atmosphere of the gym and was delighted to find the perfect combination of exercise and dance with ZUMBA. Back then, hardly anyone had heard of it and my ranting of how good it was was largely ignored. Now, of course, people all over the world join in the fun! Spurred on by friends and a couple of my ZUMBA instructors - I took the plunge to officially qualify and start my own classes. All ZUMBA instructors have their own 'flavour’. I am no spring chicken and hope to inspire some who may feel they are too old to boogie, or have worries about their physical capabilities for exercising. My aim is simple - to help you feel good about yourself! I teach Zumba Fitness, Zumba Gold, Zumba Gold Toning and Zumba Gold Seated/Supported in community venues and retirement villages in the Bristol area UK.
