Association of Drainage Authorities

association of drainage authorities

Warwickshire

Established in 1937, ADA watches over, supports and promotes our members’ interests at a national and parliamentary level, providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussions. ADA’s members include national agencies like the Environment Agency in England, internal drainage boards, local authorities, and regional flood & coastal committees. ADA’s Associate Members include contractors, consultants and suppliers to the industry. ADA’s water level and flood risk management community is built upon the interaction and connections made between our members. We champion and campaign for the sustainable delivery of water level and flood risk management, offering guidance, advice and support to the sector, whilst also informing society about our members’ essential work. At ADA, our ethos is to promote good practice within the water level management community. We try and offer as many different forms of communications as we can to update and inform our members, as well as the wider public and key stakeholders. ADA also helps our members to promote their work, products and innovation, as well as highlighting projects, services, job positions and events. And most of all, we enjoy bringing professionals together, using their knowledge to help find solutions to our nation’s water and flood risk management issues. ADA is proud to be a member of EUWMA, which represents public, local and regional water management organisations from across Europe. Follow the links in this section to find out more about how ADA is governed by, and for, its members. You can also find out how to become a member of ADA.

Welcome to The Spires College, an 11-18 secondary school with both a comprehensive intake and a selective intake. I am incredibly proud to be the Principal of The Spires College and am privileged to work with such a dedicated team of staff and with so many wonderful young people. Our aim is simple: to make certain that every young person achieves their true potential. We prioritise a love of learning. Our curriculum is focused on the teaching of rich, valuable knowledge and on the skills required to make effective use of this knowledge. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and enjoy sharing their expertise with the children they teach, as well as using their pedagogical knowledge in the classroom to ensure that children learn effectively. At The Spires College we believe that the ability to read with understanding, judiciousness and confidence is one of the most valuable skills anyone can have and so we devote significant time and resources to developing these capabilities. We also value all aspects of education in its broadest sense. Our students are encouraged to engage with as many opportunities beyond the classroom as possible. This includes a very wide range of extra-curricular clubs, teams, competitions and visits but our students also take an active role in shaping the future of the College through a wide range of student leadership activities. With over 25 years of experience in the fields of training and leadership development in both the retail and education sectors I know my stuff. My leadership career began when I worked for a bookshop chain in central London, working my way up to the role of store manager at branches in Baker Street, Earls Court and Holborn at the age of 20. This was followed by a period working as a training manager for Tesco at their first central London store on Oxford Street. My success in this role led to me being seconded to support the opening of Tesco’s flagship store in Kensington, where I helped to lead the recruitment and training of all new staff in preparation for the store’s launch. In 1999 I entered the education sector. I started as a volunteer in a pre-school, then secured a job as a Learning Support Assistant and eventually retrained as a class teacher. In my second year of teaching I took on a curriculum leadership role, which at the time was an unusual move for a new teacher. I’ve spent the last 19 years developing my career and I’m currently the headteacher of a primary school in south London. In 2014 I set up my own publishing company 9:10 Publishing. This was born out of an observation that there were very few books for young black people which were written from a black British perspective. Rather than rely on traditional publishing houses to take up my ideas, I looked into what was required to do it myself. As a result Letters to a Young Generation was born. The first book was aimed at boys and in 2016 I published another edition for girls. Visit the 9:10 Publishing website to find out more. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring Practice from Oxford Brookes University, where I am also a member of their Coaching and Mentoring Society. I’m a professional member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). I write regularly for TES and have delivered training as part of Teach First’s NPQ programme.

Inspectors said, 'excellent leadership combined with extremely skilled and dedicated teaching have ensured that the school's high performance has been sustained'. We are extremely proud of the success of our students and proud of the staff who are dedicated to achieving the highest level of support, teaching and resources in an outstanding environment. To maintain our high standards and expectations we regularly review our curriculum, staffing and resources in response to local and national developments. What does not change, however, and will not change, is our well-established ethos here at Toll Bar - hard work, good behaviour, examination success, responsibility, uniform, homework and consideration for others, delivered through an entrepreneurial and business-like approach to all we do. We also continue to be determined that each of our students will be given every opportunity to acquire and extend the basic skills so necessary for the world of work and higher education. Moor Park High School And Sixth Form

moor park high school and sixth form

Lancashire,

Here at Moor Park we have one firm belief: that education transforms lives. Our school mission is to ensure that all our young people are able to access higher education and participate fully in our democratic society. Our sixth form is where this mission is actualised. This year, we are proud to be able to report that our year 12 cohort is the biggest the sixth form has ever had, and we are almost at capacity for student numbers. This means sixth form is a vibrant community and our year 12 cohort have made an excellent start to the year, stepping up to the rigour of A Level study with ease. As you may know, our sixth form is unique in the central Preston area as we offer the option for both A Level and BTEC courses in a small, safe environment with a maximum class size of 10 students. This means that our expert staff are able to get to know students well, provide them with 1-1 support and ensure they are both challenged and supported academically, so all students make excellent progress. Our smaller size also allows us to ensure that students maintain social distancing, whilst providing a full face-to-face teaching timetable. This means that students have access to specialist teachers full time and online learning is only used for homework or independent learning. This is an exciting time for our sixth form, and I am proud to be a part of the journey we are on. If you would like to find out more, or would like to come and visit us, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
