Our story started in 2012. It began with co-founder, Emily Brooke, a passionate cyclist and designer who imagined and created our very first product, the life-saving Laserlight. Emily’s research proved that cyclists using a Laserlight were 32% more visible to drivers. The evidence saw this revolutionary light appear in bike hire fleets in London, New York and Montreal. Beryl’s belief – that a business can be a force of good – is the foundation of our business. Using their understanding of bike share schemes, Emily and co-founder Phil Ellis decided to start their own. Our values reflect those of a business started by passionate cyclists. With a desire to create high-performing products that invite people to change the way they think about, and travel around our towns and cities. We’ve never been your average cycling company. Bikes have much to offer as part of a green, sustainable transport system. But safety is a barrier to more people cycling in towns and cities. We started by tackling safety and visibility first, with our Laserlight. Now we are removing another barrier by providing our own bikes and scooters.

Abi’s background is in youth work and she has collaborated with a number of organisations to develop participatory approaches to working with vulnerable adolescents. She has worked with The International Centre: Researching Child Sexual Exploitation, Violence and Trafficking at the University of Bedfordshire, supporting specialist social care teams in Wigan and Rochdale to implement strengths and participatory approaches to Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Abi co-wrote training for these teams with Dr Camille Warrington on behalf of Research in Practice. At the University of Bedfordshire, Abi also worked on the LEAP project (2015-17) with Dr Kate D'Arcy. Abi wrote training tools for young people and professionals across Europe, in order to respond to young people's experiences of sexual violence and to support efforts to prevent sexual violence. The three-day youth facilitator training programme is called “Life-skills, leadership and limitless potential" (LLLP). All these programmes provide knowledge and tools to apply participatory approaches to practice with young people.

Brigstowe’s HIV Awareness Training empowers professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to work confidently with people living with, affected by or at risk of HIV. Our HIV Awareness Training is open to all professionals; from front-line support staff, managers or HR personnel. We have experience in delivering to a range of professionals including: social workers, medics, Avon & Somerset Police, prison staff, mental health care providers, housing associations and other voluntary organisations. We tailor the training to meet the needs of your organisation or business.  We will usually cover: * HIV prevention and transmission. * Clarify the definitions and differences between HIV & AIDS. * Provide up-to-date information on treatment. * Explore stigma and prejudice. * Explain testing services. * Promote best practice when working with a person living or affected by HIV. * Inform participants of support available. We are a community interest company called Choose Nature CIC with our site being located adjacent to the Wheal Martyn Clay Works, Carthew, mid-Cornwall.  We aim to broaden the accessibility and inclusivity of outdoor learning opportunities and therapeutic support in nature.   Mission statement: ‘Choose Nature CIC works to increase the wellbeing of individuals, communities and the environment by inspiring life long learning and care. Our calm enriching outdoor spaces are emotionally grounding and cultivate a strong relationship with nature’.  We are continuing to restore and develop the site. It has so many exciting areas including gardening spaces, wooded areas, wildlife ponds, orchard, classroom, and poly tunnels. We currently have our weekly ‘Mamas in Nature’ group (supporting new mums and babies as transition into parenthood), ‘Making Tracks’ group (supporting young people with additional needs) and different volunteering opportunities as we establish a volunteer programme. We also host a variety of family events and workshops throughout the year. More recently we have been welcoming St Austell College students onto site to gain work experience on their construction course, as well as striving to become a Makaton Friendly Organisation. Our launch was facilitated by the Clinical Lead, Mr Stephen Davies, and Speciality dentist, Ms. Anne Budenburg , both based at the Manchester Dental Hospital Temporomandibular Clinic.
