Coates Notes was first formed as an idea in 1989 but didn’t form as a business until 2001 when we started to sell sheet music & instruments and teach private music lessons on guitar in and around March, Cambridgeshire. In 2003 our private instrument lessons extended to piano and singing for key stage 1 and 2 aged children. Following a move to Thorney, Peterborough in 2011 we became involved with the Thorney Abbey Singing Club and helped to link the group to the local primary school, which increased numbers tremendously, allowing us the ability to extend repertoire and improve the standard of the group. In 2012 Thorney Children’s Community Choir was born and we have been extensively involved in the group ever since. You can find out more about our work with the choir here. On the back of the newly formed choir, we began instrument tuition in the primary school on keyboard and guitar, and soon after we were pleased to begin peripatetic class music lessons to year 6 pupils as well as a weekly singing assembly session where we teach basic vocal techniques to the whole school through fun songs and warm ups, leading on to a song for the week that gets sung in every assembly throughout the forthcoming week.

olihull Stagecoach opened in 1997 and many of our students have gone on to achieve great opportunities in TV, film and professional touring productions such as Les Mis, Matilda, Scrooge and many more. We pride ourselves on offering a safe environment where children can receive quality training in the performing arts. We welcome children with no previous experience and all we ask is that they are enthusiastic and keen to learn. Students participate in all three performing arts disciplines: drama classes, dance classes and singing classes - helping to develop confidence, physical awareness, communication and articulation - as well as being educational and fun. We offer examinations with Trinity College London, London College of Music and LAMDA. We operate from Tudor Grange school and our classes run for 3 hours 6-16 yrs or 90 mins 4-6 yrs and 45 mins 2-4 yrs during the school term. Hi I'm Lisa and I live in the middle of the Test Valley in Hampshire, with my husband, two children, my dog Inca and cat Ebury. After having my son George in 2015 and moving from a city to a village, I decided to put my career in the corporate world on hold and spend time at home being a mummy. This life style change enabled me to explore my creative side. I loved living in a village and joined one of the local village WI groups and their craft club. I also took a number of workshops including blind making and cake decorating. However my love of jewellery, magpie tendencies and previous experience with bead work, soon lead me to the magic of Silver Clay. Once I found Silver Clay I was hooked! My ability and design ideas soon had my teacher suggesting I start a small business. This is how Country Designs by Lisa was born in 2017. All my work is inspired by the country side and nature around me. I love nothing more than going foraging on a dog walk or when out and about with my children and often come back with pockets filled with more items collected on walks than my children! . I love to learn and am continuing to update my skills and over the last few years I have added traditional silversmith techniques to my work. I have also passed my Level 1 and Level 2 Art Clay certificates and i'm currently working towards my Level 3. Gaining Level 1 & 2 enables me to teach under the Art Clay banner, this was very important for me to pass before I started to teach as it gives me the knowledge and skills to teach my students correctly. Most of my range, except some smaller items, are fully hallmarked by the London Assay Office. This is a 700 year old tradition that gives buyers the assurance they are buying a quality item which has been fully tested by the Assay Office. I currently live in Edinburgh working full-time as a music tutor and performing musician. I graduated with a BA in Popular Music from Edinburgh Napier University where I was able to hone my craft by composing, performing, improvising, and training on the piano and guitar. I have surrounded myself with many great musicians and other piano teachers who keep me inspired and on top of my game. Jazz and popular music is my specialty however, I have studied classical piano and love Bartok, Schumann, Debussy, and Chopin to name a few. Each person has their own desires and reasons for playing music so I do not simply teach from a single textbook. I value good technique and an understanding of music theory but also seek to inspire and foster creativity. I have spent countless hours and hundreds of pounds researching music books and teaching methods. Fully equipped, this allows me to tailor each lesson to the student's aims, allowing them to love playing music while developing their technical skillset. At present, I have around 25 students a week as a private music teacher here at my home, or at their homes. As a live performer, I work with three live performance agencies, WooHoo, Banana Row, and Music For Scotland. They send me bookings for performances at weddings, parties, and corporate and private events across Scotland and the UK. Also, I work with various bands in Edinburgh and Glasgow performing regularly in venues such as The Jazz Bar, Stramash, The Dog House, Uno Mas, The Barony Bar, and Whistle Binkies. I have just finished writing my debut album with my band Sekoya and we recorded this in Memphis, TN in November 2022 at the studio and record label Court Square Recordings. The album is due for release summer of 2023, stay tuned for the album launch event. We are also in the process of making a documentary about the making of the album this should be released around the same time, courtesy of David Hagen Media. Another creative outlet that I spend time working on is my variety performance show, a combination of magic and music mixed in with comedy, to be performed each year as a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival under the name Luke Closely. If I am not doing this then I am busy at work with Night Owl Shows performing various tribute shows to various famous artists.
