We’re committed to our reputation as a swim school of the highest quality. We offer a modern alternative to traditional large group, summer swim lessons to make your child learn faster and have more fun. We have indoor classes year-round, and you can start any week of the year. To provide easy scheduling,* call us the week before you would like to start lessons to find the best level, class, and weekly time for your child; classes are once-weekly for 30 minutes. Once you start, we require that you commit to at least two full months of lessons because we want you to see a substantial improvement in your child’s skills and, more importantly, we want your child to retain the skills they learn. Payments are made easy from the start with monthly automatic payments taken from a credit card kept safely on file. After that initial enrollment, you never have to re-register; we will hold your child’s spot until you ask for a schedule change, your child graduates into the next level, or you need to take a break. Atlantic Bow (Communications) Limited was originally set up in 1994 by David Walls and the late Alexander Grant as a consultancy and project development firm. Dr. Stewart Massie was appointed Technical Director in 2009. We specialise in market research, risk management, open and distance learning, as well as research into combining information and communications technologies with legal, financial, commercial, educational and other professional services. We have worked largely in the fishing, seafood and aquaculture sectors. In particular, our EC funded report "The Seafood Industry of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and the West Coast: The Problems of Remoteness in a European Context" (EC Ref. UK-11-Focus, August 1997) had a major impact on the UK seafood industry and has been the basis of much of our subsequent work to date. More recently we were awarded an FIFG grant to carry out an "innovation" development project that looked at the vital question of the standardisation of data to facilitate data exchange across the seafood industry as a "proof of concept" project. To demonstrate the practical application of the draft standard specification that was developed, there was specific focus on quality management, compliance certification and audit in the field of organic aquaculture. This project was successfully completed in June 2008. The outcomes can be viewed at the AQuaManage section of our Scotsea site (see below). Lighthouse Literacy Academy was created to meet the growing needs of San Diego’s East County families who are searching for a wonderful alternative to public school. We are a group of parents and educators with children between grades Transitional Kindergarten and 9th grade. We ourselves grew up in East County attending different elementary, Jr high and High schools around the community. We come with various backgrounds from college degrees to countless ECE classes. Some of us have a background in preschool education, some in homeschooling and some in primary education. Lighthouse Literacy Academy is a Christian school where children will experience God’s love in our morning Bible time and weekly chapel as well as throughout the week as we learn to love God and each other just as God commands us. There is a high demand for classes and we need to operate a little differently due to pressure for spaces in most age groups. To help us manage this, we will be asking you to complete a simple registration process to register your interest and to confirm when next block of lessons will start. Please REGISTER HERE. Classes are held on Saturday 10 am, 11am and Sunday 5 pm. Please select your preferred time, however please note that we cannot guarantee availability (especially on Sunday) so you may be offered an alternative time instead. Our classes run in terms or blocks of 10 weeks starting from start of September every year and continue until July. ABOUT THE SWIMMING PROGRAM Our lessons follow Swim Ireland Learn to Swim Programme and run in terms of 10 weeks for most of the year. All our teachers hold Swim Ireland Qualifications and are fully Garda vetted. Swimmers can start from the age of 4 with armbands and progress through the five stages of the Learn to Swim Programme. Progression from each stage is based on assessment by the teachers as the swimmers come to terms with new concepts. Once capable in all four strokes, each child is given the opportunity to move to the Development Squad and begin their journey as a competitive swimmer with in the club. Covid Secure Guidance Taking into account Government advice, I have offered and continue to offer my students an online alternative to one to one studio lessons. These live lessons are carried out via FaceTime, Zoom or Skype. These are and remain difficult times with no certainty as to what will happen next. Online teaching is of course, no substitute for face to face tuition. Many of my students have asked me to begin teaching again in my studio. I have therefore decided to re-open the studio, and offer one to one teaching, but strictly following Covid Secure guidelines. My existing students will be aware of how keen I am to ensure that students with a cold or any other illness which may be passed on, do not attend lessons. (After all, I and several of my students rely upon our voices for work). The current situation makes it much more important that we all follow the Covid Guidelines so that we stay safe. Covid Guidelines if you think that you have a cold/flu, fever or any other illness which may infect others you must not come to your scheduled lesson, but must immediately let me know; social distancing – at least 2 metres separation (3 whilst singing) must be observed at all times; there will be no physical contact (for example to demonstrate breathing techniques); students must enter the studio via the entrance driveway and through the side doorway leading into the courtyard where my detached studio is. (Please note that I am regretfully unable to offer toilet or refreshment facilities for the time being); hand sanitiser will be available and must please be used on entering and leaving the studio; Students are not required to wear face masks (and unless otherwise requested by my student I will not wear one); Whilst I will take steps to follow Covid – Secure guidance, and will keep the studio clean and well ventilated before and after lessons, students must appreciate that I cannot guarantee their safety or be responsible for any infection.

First Aid News and UpdatesFirst aid training is something many people see as necessary workplace training. It is so much more than that for our Managing Director, Keith Sleightholm. Many years ago, Keith was driving home when a very drunk driver travelling down the wrong side of the road smashed into Keith's car. For twenty minutes, Keith was trapped in the vehicle and nobody stopped to offer comfort or help until an off duty nurse and fireman came upon the accident, provided first aid and alerted the EMS.
