The London Aquatics Centre is operated by charitable social enterprise, Better. Established in 1993, we are now the largest operator of leisure and Library facilities in the UK with more than 140 separate venues in our portfolio. Using evidence and insight, our goal is to inform policy, and motivate individuals and businesses to embrace the environmental, economic, and social benefits of a circular economy. We are a not-for-profit environmental organisation, funded by the Scottish Government and European Regional Development Fund. Our structure As a company limited by guarantee, Zero Waste Scotland’s board is comprised of six non-executive directors, one of whom is the chair, and one executive director, who is the chief executive officer. Company membership includes Scottish ministers alongside our non-executive directors. How we are funded We are funded by the Scottish Government and receive funding from the European Structural Funds Programme to help accelerate our circular economy and resource efficiency work with SMEs in Scotland. As a publicly-funded organisation, we are accountable for what we do and we want to lead by example. This is why we publish copies of our financial and environmental performance.

On behalf of everyone at Tynemouth Golf Club we extend a very warm welcome to both our members and visitors alike. It is our privilege and honour to be Captains for the year 2022/23 and to play our full part in ensuring all enjoy the excellent facilities both playing and socially available at our wonderful club. The face of golf is changing throughout the world and in the UK. New rules and innovations came into effect in 2019 and a new World Handicap System in late 2020, with the aim of making the game more enjoyable for all. Innovations such as speed golf, mixed competitions, easier playing/fun options are to be encouraged and with the help and support of all members from the most senior to most junior we feel sure that the club will move forward with success. TGC is one of the most attractive "parkland courses" in the North East. This par 70, 18-hole course is situated minutes from the beautiful village of Tynemouth, recently voted one of the best villages to visit in the country. The course offers a very fair challenge to all levels of golfer and the course record of 64 shows that to any golfer it is not as simple as it first appears. Planned level of improvements at the club are continuing and its environs will continue to remain in good condition at all times of the year. The club is proud to have completed an improvement program to the greenside bunkers in late 2020. Following that, we now have the addition of our brilliant new outside terrace which has proved extremely popular this summer with both members and visitors. We regularly have the popular “tunes on the terrace” in the summer months where different artists perform alfresco. We also have plans to further improve our clubhouse over the next few years. Membership is thriving at every level from new starters, juniors, low handicap to senior golfers. We are very well represented at County and Regional level, in multiple leagues from Junior to Senior. The gents team performed excellently in the Newcastle and District Golf League Division 1 finishing a creditable 4th place in 2022. Our professional John McKenna, oversees our adult "academy" for beginners, which was the brainchild of our club manager Paul Whittaker, and this has proved a great success. We extend our thanks to the members who acted as mentors and enthusiastically supported the initiative. The academy will continue to develop and encourage new golfers to enjoy the game and our Club. John also has a thriving junior academy which is very popular with both girls and boys of all ages.

Delta One Canines was established in 1999 when I retired from the Police Force. Twenty one of those thirty years was spent as a dog handler and dog training instructor. The aims of the business are the same now as they were then, to provide dog training and behaviourial advice to pet owners that is effective, acceptable and affordable. The business has grown over the last twenty five years and now includes two associate instructors. Potential clients of the business can be assured by our membership of bona fide professional organisations. I have been a full member of British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers since the mid 1980s and an Honorary Life Member of Canine Behaviour & Training Society (Formerly U.K. Registry of Canine Behaviourists) since 2010. My associate trainers are also members of B.I.P.D.T.. On-going staff training has included courses in Canine First Aid and dog law. We deliver Responsible Dog Ownership Courses which were developed by ourselves at the request of and in association with West Midlands Police. We pride ourselves on delivering a personal service to all clients. All our training lessons are delivered on a “One to one” basis so that owner and dog can progress at their own pace without distractions. Behaviourial consultations are delivered at the owners home. The consultations deal with matters such as aggression, separation anxiety, dominance and other subjects that are beyond the scope of a regular training lesson. Owners are given a behaviour modification program to address the cause of the dogs unwanted behaviour.

The Survey Association, known generally as TSA, is the trade body for commercial survey companies in the UK. The association was formed in 1979 to give a focus for private sector businesses in land and hydrographic survey. It is important to realise, however, that it is not a regulatory body. The role of TSA is to promote best practice amongst its members, provide a forum for members for discussion, debate and continuing professional development and, to the wider audience such as engineers and architects, provide guidance on new methods and techniques and a list of suitably qualified and experienced companies. Today, the association has over 200 companies in membership as full, associate, supplier, affiliate or academic members directly involved in the geospatial profession. TSA is also involved in lobbying Government departments when appropriate and other agencies such as the Environment Agency regarding policies likely to affect or involve the survey profession. TSA meets regularly with RICS and CICES on a range of issues and has established a group called the SLG, or Survey Liaison Group. This body convenes at regular intervals to examine matters of mutual interest and to ensure that there is little or no duplication of effort by the three bodies. Representatives from the Geospatial Commission also regularly join SLG meetings. Birmingham Country Club, nestled in the southwest corner of Birmingham, was founded in 1916 by a group of six local businessmen. They purchased what was then the Case farm, which consisted of 161 acres of beautiful rolling land filled with trees, hills, valleys and a winding stream. Their original intent was to create a real-estate development, but the natural beauty of the site persuaded them to build a golf course instead. The original clubhouse was a white farmhouse built on Northlawn Road, right across from the 18th fairway. It was eventually replaced by a wood-frame clubhouse built on the course grounds near what is now the putting green. Membership grew, and on March 30, 1930, just after the stock market crash, their current English-style clubhouse was opened. While Donald Ross made suggestions for Birmingham’s golf course in 1920, it was Tom Bendlelow who designed it in 1911. Bendlelow laid out the first nine holes in 1916, and finished the final nine in 1920. The course was remodeled in 1928, and was again revamped in the 1930s, when golf course architect and five-time Indiana Amateur champion, William Diddell, redesigned it. Prior to BCC hosting the PGA in 1953, Robert Trent Jones worked on it, and noted course architects Bruce and Jerry Matthews worked on it again in 1963

We plan to bring together all groups and individuals in Sandwich who are interested in the late medieval period who wish to contribute to the living history of Sandwich.We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, a CIO, formed in 2018 with the objective registered with the Charity Commission: To advance education for the public benefit on matters to do with the late medieval period, ie approx. 1330 to 1480 with a special focus on the heritage of Sandwich Town, Kent, in particular but not exclusively by providing a maritime and land based crafts “living museum”. Aims We plan to bring together all groups and individuals in Sandwich who are interested in the late medieval period who wish to contribute to the living history of Sandwich. The base for our activities is the wooden boatyard building on the slipway by the Quay, the Sandwich Medieval Centre. A special focus is engaging with young people. In addition to the centre being an historically interesting visitor centre, it will also be the base for educating and mentoring juniors in medieval crafts and skills to ensure that the rich history of Sandwich in this period is not lost to future generations.
