odils learning foundation
I am Cassie Roberts, the Chief Executive and one of the co-founders of Odils
Learning Foundation. My husband, Russell, and I started the charity in 2001
because we believe that language plays an important part in helping new
communities to integrate and contribute to the wider community. Russell had
traveled a lot during his life and understood the need for a place that could be
considered ‘family’ until he got connected into the community. When we settled
back in Plymouth, we started Odils Learning Foundation because there were many
people entering the city of Plymouth to work and settle here. Many were living
on very low wages and were far from family, socially isolated and could not
speak English, but were not able to afford the more expensive language schools.
We wanted to create a solution for this.
