The Lemonade Project is an initiative of Shared Health Foundation with the aim of building resilience in young people who are experiencing low levels of emotional wellbeing. It is part of Shared Health Foundation’s wider strategy to improve mental health support for adolescents across Greater Manchester. Our resources and training are perfect to help schools meet new PSHE requirements. Project Overview The Lemonade Project consists of three strands: The Lemonade Resource Book: A range of interactive, engaging activities designed to be used by small groups of young people. It covers six main chapters addressing many of the issues in the ‘Resilience Framework’, for example emotional literacy, self esteem and identity, and dealing with challenge The Tough Times Toolkit: A conversation aid which consists of suggested questions and prompts which can help get to the root of any problems a young person might be experiencing, as well as an informal risk assessment. It also includes ideas for strategies that an adult may want to suggest to a young person to try and help them manage strong emotions. The Life and Lemons Journal: An interactive resilience journal for young people. We believe that the best way this journal can be used is to allow the young person to take it way, use in their own time, and then meet back to discuss any issues that it might have raised in a safe space with a parent/teacher or trusted adult.

I have been part of the school community since 2013 as Deputy Head and 2021 as Headteacher as well as a parent of children at the school. We usually see the world as a narrow-angle view of the horizontal plane; our eyes, our entire design are optimized for living in a flat plane five to six feet off the ground. Looking Up provides an all-encompassing, vertical view that questions that anthropocentric basis. I was photographing in Paris, exploring my interest in architecture when I became fascinated by the outlines of the tops of the buildings against the sky. They formed shapes and contours that I had missed all the other times I had passed by the same places. Not only do we seldom look up, but it is also difficult to see in many directions at the same time. In time came a more profound realization–that in general a photograph can break many of the limits of human visualization of the world. By looking upward and taking in a wider view, the scene changes radically from what we normally experience. As I started capturing these images, momentum built. I kept being surprised that I could create an equally true image of a scene that was radically different from the one you see with your eyes at the same spot. As this work evolved, I’m taking that underlying theme in multiple directions. I’ve photographed at many locations capturing some of the variations that create a distinct place. Even when one looks straight up, unable to see whether there are patisseries or souks, églises or mosques, the differences are striking.

The Infant Feeding Team The UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative works with health care professionals to provide parents with the best support to build close and loving relationships with their baby, and to feed their baby in ways that support optimum health and development. We were re-accredited as a Gold service in January 2020! Return with your baby for extra help. The infant feeding team run antenatal breastfeeding workshops every week and more information can be found under related links. Part of the role of the team is to provide ongoing training and support to the midwives and maternity support staff around infant feeding as well as write and update the guidelines and policies. This means any of the staff are able to answer your questions and you can expect to receive consistent and evidence based support from your community and hospital team throughout your pregnancy and in the early days after having your baby. If your midwife or other health care professional feels you would benefit from more specialist support they will put in a referral to our team. We aim to get in touch as soon as possible during the working week after the referral has been received. There are baby friendly champions in every ward area and community team within maternity. They are staff who attend regular updates and disseminate key information to the people they work with to ensure you receive the most up to date information on infant feeding. During pregnancy

Extracting a simple solution to a complex problem rarely comes from a light-bulb moment, or a pre ordained menu of rules or questions. The start for a great solution may be a five minute conversation but great result require thought, expertise and hard work. There is no short cut to a well resolved outcome. There are a number of place markers that govern our way of doing things. Over 40 years of experiences has developed a process which is as part structure, part instinct and experience. For example our work might starts with a research based initial response, followed by development to agreed criteria and then production of an output and its story.

It’s time to look again at Let the Right One In, the Swedish film from 2008 that perhaps has something to say about 2022. It offers a distinctive take on Bram Stoker’s Dracula story which itself appeared in 1897 at a time of migrations from Eastern Europe. Dracula has proved to be a popular story in both theatre and cinema with many adaptations. 2022 is the centenary of Nosferatu, perhaps the most celebrated film adaptation. The novel Låt den rätte komma in by John Ajvide Lindqvist was published in 2004. The story is set in the early 1980s with heightened tension caused by Russian submarines tracked in Swedish waters. It is a fantasy story but Lindqvist made use of some of his own experiences as a young teenager in developing the narrative. The film adaptation in 2008, directed by Tomas Alfredson, presents an almost social realist Stockholm suburb with a new resident, a girl of 12 named Eli, moving in next door to Oskar, an introverted boy of the same age. The 2008 film became an international hit, celebrated by popular audiences and critics alike and generating a Hollywood remake (not so successful) and several stage adaptations. Tagged a ‘romantic horror’, the film raises questions about ethnicity, gender and migration. There will be plenty to discuss. Let the Right One In is available on BBC iPlayer for the next two months.
