The University of Manchester – Middle East Centre opened at Dubai Knowledge Park in 2006 with the launch of its flagship Global Part-time MBA programme. Today, the centre has supported over 2,894 part-time MBA students and graduated over 1,849. The centre team also supports a regional community of around 2,800 alumni and actively works to create professional networking opportunities to help enrich the wider business community. The Middle East Centre is the largest and fastest growing centre in The University of Manchester’s international network. Since successfully launching the University’s top ranked MBA programme in the Middle East, the centre has identified a range of key educational and leadership needs in the region through research, collaborations and consultancy work. The University now offers a dynamic portfolio of blended learning part-time Master’s degrees for working professionals, including MSc Financial Management and MA Educational Leadership in Practice. As the University continues to contribute to the growth of the higher education sector in the Middle East, additional programmes will be offered. The University works in a range of collaborations with professional bodies such as IMA, ACCA, and Society of Engineers, as well as UK organisations including UKTI, British Business Group and British Centres for Business. In addition, The University of Manchester - Middle East Centre has forged a range of partnerships with public and private sector organisations through its Strategic Talent Partnership programme. Executive educational facilities The Middle East Centre, based in Block 2B at the knowledge hub, Dubai Knowledge Park, offers study, library and classroom facilities for students and visiting faculty from The University of Manchester in the UK, as well as office space for the regional team, which coordinates and supports all student activities, including highly interactive and intensive workshops conducted by visiting faculty. A recent expansion at the centre has also increased the range of facilities available for students. Welcome to the Kinver High School website my name is Nikki Clifton, proud headteacher of Kinver High School. I joined Kinver High in December 2019 as head and was pleased to find a team and community that had ambitions that match mine, to create a world class environment for our students to learn. During my headship I aim to lean on not only the experience gained from my 25 years in education, first as a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages and secondly as a School Leader for the past decade; but also, being a parent of three teenagers allows me to perfectly understand the challenges that face our students, parents and carers. We are located in the beautiful, rural village setting of Kinver and serve a wide area also comprising the South Staffordshire villages of Stourton, Swindon, Bobbington and Trysull. Over recent years a substantial number of children have travelled in from Dudley and the southern and western parts of Stourbridge including Norton, Wollaston, Wordsley, Cookley in Worcestershire. Our coaches pick up from all of these locations. Kinver is also conveniently located for travel to and from Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. Academic work at all stages at Kinver High is important, but our idea of education goes beyond the classroom. We have an exceptional range of extra-curricular activities, through involvement in sports teams, musical performances and a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs designed to engage and inspire students to pursue their own interests and develop their talents. The School is one of the oldest in the country. The exact date of foundation is not known, but we know that in 1326 a Chantry School was already established at the old castle of Hanley. At the time of the Reformation, Hanley re-emerged as a Grammar School, and we have a charter from 1544 in the reign of Henry VIII. In 1633 a new body of Trustees was appointed and in 1733 the school was re-built; these buildings (much modified) are still in use today. The 1991 building programme considerably improved the facilities at the school and as a consequence of becoming a Specialist School for Languages we secured funding for a £2 million eight-classroom language and computing block which was opened in September 2008. Our magnificent new sixth form centre was opened in September 2016. Various additional building projects have expanded and enhanced facilities for performing arts, science, PE, humanities and maths departments. We have recently improved and enlarged dining facilities and student toilets. College (House) System The origins of our school can be traced back with some certainty to 1486, when it was given its own buildings and income. However, there is a suggestion that from as early as 1326 the chantry priest may have taught the children of the parish on or near our current school site. The parish of Hanley (later to become Hanley Castle) has an ancient and fascinating history. Although there is evidence of a Roman fort by the river, and of a Roman temple on the site of the church, the first direct references to Hanlee have been found in two charters dated 962 and 972 A.D. At the time of the Norman Conquest (1066-1088) the area was over-run with trees and like all forests belonged to the King of England, who enjoyed exclusive hunting rights. However, within 50 years areas of the forest had been cleared and Hanley had grown into a thriving community. The name Hanley comes from the old English han leah, meaning ‘high clearing’. We have named our new colleges after three major settlements within the forest, reflecting the ancient history of our unique community.

The Engineering Biology Interdisciplinary Research Centre provides a hub for anyone interested in Engineering Biology at the University of Cambridge, including researchers, commercial partners and external collaborators. Engineering Biology is an emerging field which applies engineering principles to the design and modification of living systems. The University of Cambridge has been an important and early contributor in this area. The Engineering Biology Interdisciplinary Research Centre was established in 2013 with the support of the Schools of Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences and Technology to bring together related activities across the university and within the community. Academic leadership of the IRC is provided by the Steering Committee, and supported by the IRC Coordinator who works with researchers and external partners to implement IRC activities. The major aims of the IRC are to: Provide a hub of interdisciplinary exchange for all those interested in Synthetic and Engineering Biology at the University of Cambridge, from researchers and students to industrial partners and policy makers. Promote interdisciplinary collaborations across the University through regular events and seed funding competitions. Facilitate funding applications in the field of Synthetic and Engineering Biology Initiate academic-industrial partnerships across the IRC Research Themes. Explore open technologies for innovation, widening participation in novel IP practices and business models for tools related to Synthetic and Engineering Biology. Explore the wider social context of GM technologies at the local and global level, particularly responsible innovation for sustainability and conservation.

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website and our school. William Edwards is a large, successful, harmonious and thriving mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. Pupil outcomes across the school are historically strong. However, attending William Edwards is about so much more than just GCSE outcomes. We firmly believe that your school days should be the best days of your life and that schools have a moral purpose to extend the life experiences of their pupils. That is why we boast the largest Duke of Edinburgh cohort of any school in the East of England and are one of only a very small number of secondary schools nationally to hold both the Artsmark Platinum Award and the Youth Sports Trust Gold Award for our work in these diverse fields. We were delighted that our last inspection report noted that “pupils who spoke to inspectors were effusive about their experience in school” and that “the breadth of curriculum opportunities available at the school is a real ‘gem’ in the school’s offer to its pupils”.
