Free support, advice and education for the local communityI used to be a learner
with no motivation, ambition and little work ethic. Since I enrolled with the
Abbey Access Centre I’ve gained more confidence and motivation in my career. My
first job is with the Arboretum Cafe as a full time Chef. I was recently made
redundant from a large retail company when my store closed, and I found myself
in the situation of assessing alternative careers. Because Abbey Access has a
real life working café, replete with a fully equipped kitchen, I was able to try
out what it would be like to work within catering and hospitality. I was also
able to accrue a set of hospitality related qualifications. On the train home, I
feel a sense of achievement having completed another busy day at the Arboretum
Café. Because of this, I now have the confidence to apply for jobs within the
hospitality sector.
