Power and control, physical, emotional and psychological abuse, fear of the unknown and “Why doesn’t she leave?” are just some of the issues raised in this contemporary look at domestic violence. * LIFE SENTENCE [https://cctheatre.co.uk/domestic-violence-drama/life-sentence/] - explores the aftermath of an attempted domestic homicide - This short sharp solo drama, based on real events, looks at the development of an abusive relationship and how ‘the system’ can let victims down. It explores the aftermath of an attempted domestic violence murder, raising awareness of serious cases, the need for a workplace DV strategy, stalking, legal and medical issues and how workplace practice can better support victims.    Each CPD accredited session includes a screening of the play with additional interactive training elements – quiz on the scale and prevalence of domestic abuse, tailored discussion, pdf information pack and 3 CPD points per student.

The Climate Centre’s mission is to help the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and its partners reduce the impacts of climate change and extreme-weather events on vulnerable people. In recent decades, there has been a sharp increase in weather-related disasters with climate change and there is an urgent need to manage the rising risk of extreme-weather events through better early-warning, disaster relief and risk reduction, and with climate-smart programmes for health and care, water and sanitation, and food security. Our approach, working at the intersection of science, policy, and practice, is detailed in our Strategy 2021−2025. A core objective is to make the best global scientific insights operable at local level. Key elements include support for awareness-raising and capacity-building, especially in developing countries whose people are the most vulnerable to climate change. Policy needs to be geared toward climate-smart planning, including better dialogues involving a wide range of stakeholders. The Climate Centre focuses primarily on providing guidance and tools to National Societies and their partners, and fostering the exchange of experience, training and technical back-up for Red Cross Red Crescent volunteers, delegates and managers specializing in disaster risk management and health. In the international arena we facilitate access to climate-related channels of funding and advocate for support to the most vulnerable people in debates on climate policy, especially the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the annual UN climate talks, but also related international discussions on development and humanitarian policy and finance.

Application and scientific rigour and impartiality to plans and policies ensuring the best outcomes for society now and in the future. Our culture and organisational strategy is founded upon two principles: that we are relevant and accessible to all. As an institution, we are striving to become more inclusive and help the wider water and environmental management sector (WEM) feel that way too. To us, this means making CIWEM a welcoming environment where everyone feels able to participate and that their unique voices and experiences are represented. We have been working as part of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Science Council Diversity and Inclusion progression framework steering group, as well as other water and environmental organisations to improve our levels of equality and inclusion across the sector.
