Being Swedish in origin I feel very strongly that our wellbeing and happiness should be more prominent in our way of life and the concept of Lagom, which means ‘just about right, not too much or too little’ is a key concept to Swedish people. This balance between work and pleasure is perhaps more clearly articulated in Scandinavia and sits well together with the key foundation of the Positive Psychology movement. After my initial Psychology degree I worked in the Further Education Sector and I still have a particular interest in adolescents and in Post 16 work. I did my Educational Psychology training at the Tavistock Clinic in London in the mid 90s, and I had a good grounding in Attachment and Resilience based frameworks as well as Family Therapy. Over the years, I have also specialised in specific learning difficulties as well as more recently in Positive Psychology with a particular interest in Coaching Psychology. Over the last year I have received Positive Psychology Coaching from one of Britain’s most well established Positive Psychologists, Miriam Akhtar. Being on the receiving end of good coaching has given me a personal insight into its transformational powers. Having been an educational psychologist for over 20 years in a number of different settings, including both Local Authorities and the Independent Sector, as well as assessments for students in Higher Education, I came across Positive Psychology when experiencing personal and health changes in my own life. I applied a number of Positive Psychology strategies such as The Keys To Happier Living, (See Action for Happiness below) and I learnt to keep my attention and focus in the right place in order to promote wellbeing. I learnt what my Character Strengths were which enabled me to see myself in a different light. I feel strongly that everybody would benefit from knowledge of these principles. I am therefore keen to provide Positive Psychology training and insights to individuals, families and schools. Adam Fidler Academy, principal Adam Fidler, was founded in 2016 to provide high-quality education and learning for Personal Assistants, Executive Assistants and Business Support professionals. Is a health professional who through health promotion and wellness create a better quality of life for people they work with. Movement is an essential part of everyday life, for people of all ages. Movement affects development, learning, communicating, work capacity, health, and quality of life. Movement permits people to navigate and stay oriented within their environment. It allows people to interact more fully in their work and recreation. It is a defining element of quality of life. Movement may be diminished or lost due to heredity, ageing, injury, or disease. Such loss may occur gradually, over the course of a lifetime, or traumatically in an instant. Conditions of movement loss that are linked with chronic and disabling diseases pose additional challenges for patients and their families. From the public health perspective, the prevention of either the initial impairment, or additional impairment from this environmentally orienting and socially connecting functioning, requires significant resources. Prevention of movement loss or the resulting disabling conditions, through the development of improved disease prevention, detection, or treatment methods or more effective rehabilitative strategies, must be a global priority. The profession of Biokinetics has evolved as a primary care health profession responding to the universal need for quality, accessible, cost-effective health care. I started going to yoga classes when I was just 16, tagging along with my Mum who had been going for years to her favourite teacher Sam. Yoga stayed with me throughout my adolescence, and I always found a class wherever I was, whether at University, on holiday or when I moved away from home. When I settled in Kent, I found an amazing teacher, Rebecca Papa-Adams, who was teaching at my local gym, and I was hooked, I went to yoga several times a week, practiced at home and started becoming interested in the non physical side of yoga. Rebecca convinced me to start my teacher training, even though my immediate plans included marriage and babies. I began my 500 hour teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2015, shortly after I got married, and unbeknown to me I was already pregnant on the first day of teacher training. I studied for 2.5 years with the British Wheel of Yoga and formed an amazing circle of mentors, teachers and friends throughout that time. I ended up studying and teaching throughout both my pregnancies, which added a whole other dimension to my journey. Seeing the amazing physical and mental effects of yoga whilst being pregnant encouraged me to begin pregnancy teacher training in 2019 soon after my second baby was born; he even joined me on my teacher training days. Yoga provides a lot of different things for different people, but for me it has been present for most of my adult life keeping me grounded, physically mobile and calm. It's opened my mind to other areas of health that I would have never explored otherwise. It's not about being the most flexible or being able to meditate for hours on end, but having strategies and coping mechanisms to live a happy and vibrant life. The classes I teach all include an element of strength, so that when you do stretch, its safe and controlled. I'd love for you to join me at one of my classes, whatever stage you are at.

We are often called in where a business has significant challenges and have previously worked with other organisations who have failed to deliver the results required. One organisation we worked with had brought in three consultancies over the last 5 years and each time the consultants failed to listen to the needs of the organisation and tried to implement strategies they wanted to without addressing or agreeing on the objectives required. We bring in fresh perspective as our direct approach enables us to get to the route of the challenges and as we collect evidence, we have lots of conversations and observations to support our findings. Everything we do is in collaboration with the Leadership Team and their staff and this works as we have been where they are in our previous careers so we have empathy and understanding of how challenging and hard all of this can be for the Leadership Team and the people within the business. Our Story I set up Positive Qualities because I was bullied out of my last corporate job and I had a strong desire to make workplaces better. Workplaces where people could come to work and share ideas and feel safe and valued for their contribution and they never need to dim their light because they feel they haven’t got a voice. I started Positive Qualities because I felt there was a real need for it in business. The W.O.W Programme can help a business reach new targets, increase sales or achieve better customer and staff satisfaction. The W.O.W programme depends on communication, trust and belief. It’s very interactive, high energy and generates a feeling of belonging. It’s about building employee engagement, so employees feel physically, intellectually and emotionally attached to their work. We’re good at handling challenging situations and frequently we find the best results come from the most negative people,” W.O.W.programme is a business improvement programme and a process which is measurable and always has significant results. It empowers people and creates positive futures. I started by pitching to hotels I stayed in and the manufacturers of the cars I drove. I just felt compelled to start a company which I believed would be needed by these customers.

St Leonards Studio CIC is a collective of teachers of Yoga, Pilates, Qigong, Meditation, Shiatsu and other such practices for holistic health and wellbeing. We are a not for profit, Community Interest Company whose aim is to provide affordable space for local teachers who form a collective of practitioners providing classes, workshops and courses for all. The studio was founded and is run by two local teachers Annie Cryar and Zowie Martin with an intention to create a suitable and affordable space for a community of teachers with a shared ethos of safety, inclusiveness and community support. All teachers joining the studio are fully qualified and insured and encouraged to be part of a governing body to ensure a standard of professionalism students can trust. In-house trainings are available for both existing teachers to continue professional development and new teachers and practitioners to train through the Shiatsu College Hastings and Meridian Yoga Teacher Training, a British Wheel of Yoga approved school. Members of the studio are independent sole traders and remain fully autonomous in the running of their classes but are encouraged to think of themselves as being part of a whole that runs for the good of all. Teachers are encouraged to connect socially with one another, to experience one another teachings and to participate in raising social awareness through collaborative free community events such as Mental Health Awareness Week, World Meditation Day and charity events. Over the last 5 years the studio has had to move venues 3 times and teachers come and go but the heart and vision of St Leonards studio remains the same. St Leonards Studio CIC supports the Sarah Lee Trust, a local charity providing free complimentary therapy for those with terminal illness and their families.
